I was on Orca's Island for a week and we exclusively used Orca's Island Taxi Service once we landed in Eastsound as we did not rent a car. Eric and Mathis were great, always on time and had outstanding knowledge of not just Orcas but all the islands. I appreciated Eric's dry humor and we were incredibly sad to leave the island. As an example of his service when we first landed he took us to the grocery store so we could stock and then held our luggage to complete other rides and came back and got us. He helped unload our luggage and our groceries. Thank you Eric for the great service and the laughs. read more

Eric is awesome! We were moored at Deer Harbor, which is pretty far away from any full size grocery stores or restaurants, and he saved the day. He picked us up on the side of the road! After being let down by the shuttle (unplanned maintenance) we decided to hoof it from the ferry terminal to Eastsound. After seeing him drive by, we were excited to see a taxi. He got us to Eastsound and even arranged a pickup to get us back to the ferry. He was very knowledgeable about the island, and answered all the questions we had. Honestly, the best taxi ride I've ever been on. He was on time picking us up, and got us back to the ferry without any issues. 100% recommended! read more

I hired Orcas Island Taxi to shuttle my partner and I to a friend's wedding venue in town. Cindy, our driver, spent the entire trip from the ferry terminal to the wedding venue sharing unsolicited and cruel, homophobic opinions ranging from "lesbians kidnap babies from straight couples because they can't have any of their own" to violent comments about trans people that I don't feel comfortable sharing on a public forum. Not only did my wife and I (we are a same-sex couple) feel verbally attacked and belittled, we also felt physically unsafe in an unfamiliar place at night in the car of a woman who, upon finding out we were queer, decided to launch into a hateful diatribe. My heart was beating out of my chest until the moment we climbed out of the van. If you are looking for transportation on Orcas Island I urge you to avoid this company at all costs. read more

We landed at West sound via float plane and the marina was kind enough to call Orcas Island Taxi for us so we could pick up our rental car. We were told the taxi would be there in 10 to 15 minutes. After 55 minutes waiting I went back into the marina and again they were kind enough to make the call to find out where the taxi was. Apparently he had "forgotten" that he had a fair. A taxi driver has one job " pick up and drop off" i would expect he might be able to handle it. think this taxi company owner needs some brain training to boost his memory. Funny he didn't forget to charge us full fair... Any other cab company would be better. read more

We arrived on the island under the instruction that parking can be sparse in the downtown area. To call a cab when we reach the other side. We found the business card for Orcas Island Taxi LLC at the Cider shop at the top of the hill (above the gift shop). Called and the owner, Eric; he said he could be to us within 10-15 minutes. So we browsed around the gift shop and went back up to the top of the hill. Eric was very friendly and informative about island properties along the route to downtown. We scheduled a return trip through him. Pick up at the same spot we were dropped off by a different gentleman. EVEN BETTER SERVICE: my husband left his phone in the cab and we only just noticed when we were boarding the ferry. We called and Eric orchestrated for the phone to be handed off to a Washington State Ferry employee for us to pick up at our port of Anacortes. Seriously ABOVE and BEYOND with customer service. Quality people. Will definitely call Eric for our next visit. read more

My partner and I spent a couple of days on the island and since neither of us drive, we relied on this taxi service to get around the island when it was too far or confusing for us to walk. Eric was always timely and awesome. He was very kind and pleasant to talk with. He gave us a lot of info about the island that Wikipedia and TripAdvisor didn't inform me of, and that was greatly appreciated! Each trip was a little history lesson. Like everyone else on the island, Eric was very respectful and treated us hospitably. I would really recommend this service to anyone traveling to the island without a car. The prices are very fair, and pickup is pretty quick. Though, I hear in the summer it is best to call ahead as the island is packed with tourists and it is a small company. read more

Visitors and tourists beware! Don't get ripped off! If you are comparing to shuttle prices or other transit options, take the rates stated on their website and then double it. We reserved a trip from the ferry drop off to Eastsound, and the stated rate on their website was $27 for the first two passengers plus $5 for each additional passenger. We had four in our group. After arriving in Eastsound, the driver told us it was $60, without tip. We respectfully asked about the rate on the website and the driver got instantly defensive and angry saying "The website says rates subject to change. Don't blame me! I just work here." Was the driver really Eric the owner pretending to someone else? The whole thing was strange and gross. The driver was hostile and strange and seemed like the kind of guy you don't want to push too far. So we paid the jacked up fee and moved on. Keep in mind the van was dirty, with empty beer cans sloshing around in back and no air conditioning. So it was hot, dirty, we were overcharged, and the driver was hostile about it when we asked. It's predatory "bait and switch" behavior. Not that it will do any good, but I've reported them to the BBB and the Chamber of Commerce. It was such a frustrating experience that I felt that other visitors to Orcas deserved some sort of warning. By the way, the shuttle was comfortable, cool, clean, and a fraction of the cost. read more

How come we can't give zero stars? Disclaimer: we didn't actually use this service. On that note it is important to say that we will never use them now! Our experience with this company occurred when we came to a stop sign where everyone was stopped and there was confusion on who was next in the pecking order. We went (as it seemed that no one else was) at the same time as the driver of the green van that this taxi company uses. We immediately stopped as soon as we saw that he was going and let him go first. We waved apologetically and then he proceeded to stare us down and flip us off. We thought this would be then end of it but he then decided to drive 10 mph under the speed limit all the way to the ferry terminal to punish us for our confusion at the stop sign. When we got to a section where we could pass we did so but apparently did not make it in before the passing lane ended and were pulled over by a officer. The officer was very polite and left us with a warning, after which we proceeded to the ferry landing. When we got to the landing we saw this jerk again and he continued to flip us off. Talk about holding a grudge! We were just going to ignore it but then we looked him up on yelp and saw that he has a tendency to curse out his customers and threaten people. I just don't understand how someone like this can continue to run a business in a service industry. Anyway, I will never and would not use this taxi company if at all possible. 0 out of 5 stars. I've been using this service since I moved to the island last August and have always gotten to where I need to go without issues except the occasional tourist reservation. Eric is a real nice guy and these other reviews are downright unfounded and uncalled for. Ignore the one stars because there has never been an occurrence of any bad customer service with this company. Living on the same island as this business, I would have definitely heard about any negative experiences because word travels fast in these parts. By the way, Eric has some sharp-looking comfy cars in his fleet. You should give him a call next time you need a ride! read more
