I still miss the Orbit Music Store of the 90's; it sold lots of cool items in addition to music and incense. However, the selection of music is good and I'm happy to see this store surviving on some level. I love the 5 for a dollar section that allows me to get some retail therapy while spending next to nothing. I listen to a variety of music including lots of oldies. I also like rain tracks or classical to help me sleep, so I always find something. I think they probably dislike me since I only shop the "Super Clearance Section" but 'oh well, I'm having fun'. The selection here is pretty weak, especially for used vinyl. They pretty much offer the cheaper, "lesser" albums of artists no one is looking for. And when you do stumble upon a gem, it's got a 30-40% markup from what you should pay for it. As far as service: yikes. The guy at the counter was incredibly rude and dismissive to my wife, who would ask him about different artists we looked for. "I don't know who that is."... I don't know dude, why don't you look it up or offer a less dismissive way to say "we don't have that, I'm sorry." And then when we bought something, we were mocked. "Wow, I didn't think anyone actually listened to them." And laughed. I was appalled by the treatment and dismissive attitude of the employee. Just beware. read more

Music is one of my favorite things in the world, so stopping by Orbit Music was a great choice for my husband and I. We got a record player in the last year so we are always on the look put for more records. They also had cds, vhs, and dvds. I have a dvd collection along with our record collection so this truly was a one stop shop for us when it came to entertainment. We come to South Bend a lot, so I am sure Orbit Music will become a regular place we stop at. With all their inventory options, I feel like I could look around for hours. I was really hoping to find a cool vinyl slot that carried a wide variety of new and used. Sorely disappointed they had a selection of used. Not sure if any new. And I guess they had an assortment of cds and other stuff. Nothing that I was looking for and well the search continues for a good vinyl shop. read more

I've been coming here for years. They always have a great selection of cassettes and vinyl. The owner is awesome I went in to buy a used cassette and he said you can have it. sure it was only priced at a quarter but it's the gesture. One of my favorite places from childhood that still exists. They have a LOT of tapes and vinyl (old/new) and CDs. They've got shirts, glass, incense, and probably a lot of stuff I'm forgetting. My only suggestion is to test any video game equipment/games immediately after buying. I bought an SNES controller there a few years ago and for some reason I didn't get to test it till much later and it doesn't work. That's my bad, I guess. read more

One of the better used music stores I've been to. Great vast selection on every medium you can think of..from cds and vinyl..to even cassettes. I found a good amount of cds I had been looking for for a long time here. They also have a great selection of DVDs, video games (both retro and current), tapestries, artwork..there's a whole lot of really great things they offer in this store. Everything is very reasonably priced and the staff here from what I experienced was friendly and helpful. If I was from this area, or if I went to Notre Dame, I would definitely be a regular customer here. read more

If only this were a Championship Vinyl...that being said here is a previous experience....a bit too much like Championship Vinyl. Me - (excitedly walking to counter with a Nirvana "Lithium" single in hand and a big smile on my face) I'd just like this please. Female cashier - Um ok. Me - I can believe I found this! Female cashier - You know that's only a single right? Me - Yep! I collect the singles and I've never seen this in person. Why? Deceitful....I called to find out the process for selling my vintage vinyl and was told to pop in during business hours. I told them that I would head over shortly. I arrived at 2 in the afternoon and they were closed (after being told the hours). The next day I loaded all my vinyl again and headed over. I get there and at that point I was informed that they would only offer store credit. Why would you not tell me that when I called and asked? In the process three of my pristine vintage album covers were water damaged because it started pouring rain on the second day. Completely unprofessional operation! read more

One of Mishawaka's most iconic locales (for better or for worse), Orbit Music provides a relaxed environment for browsing and purchasing various medias. Music is the primary focus here (with vinyl present for those high fidelity freaks), though movies and eccentric odds and ends fit their way in as well. It should be noted that most of the stock here is used, but the prices reflect this. Everything is reasonably tagged, and the genuinely kindly fellow who runs it is even willing to wiggle on these. My only real complaint with the establishment is it's refusal to update (No iTunes cards? No new physical releases?), but I do understand the dilemma. Physical media is on the downturn, and the need is only growing smaller. So definitely give this one a chance. Glowing would be an understatement. Very nice place! Friendly managers & staff. I was able to custom order a specialty item through them. They support local and national bands allowing flyers for upcoming concerts. GIANT collection of vinyl records (mostly used). Very impressive! They also have CDs, games and movies available. Plus t-shirts and other miscellaneous stuff. Overall, we'll be back now that we've seen all that they offer. read more

Don't bother going here. It isn't even a shadow of what it was 5 years ago! The place has gone down hill, fast. Why I say this is that the people working there don't have a clue as to current, new or old music. I asked the employee about 2 bands both of which he never heard of before; Black Tide, and Enuf Znuf. I was flabbergasted, I remember places like Hegwish (am I spelling that right?), you could find the latest imports, local talent, serious oldies, or the hottest billboards. Orbit primarily serves those into mook rock, mainstream rap (gotta love those "bootlegs" that let you charge consumers for music you just downloaded and burnt onto a disc), and the head shop crowd -- just make sure you never actually reeeefer to those "accessories" for what they're actually used for (and really, who cares? just legalize it). At one time they did have a "record store" location near the university, and that one carried more in the way of indie rock and the sorts of things you'd find in most independent record stores in cities or college towns. You'll still find the occasional out-of-the-mainstream gem here and there, same as at any major electronics store, but it doesn't really cater to the thinking music fan or anyone looking to develop their tastes. The funniest thing is the service...my wife was recently treated quite rudely by someone who clearly had no business being pretentious. We've lived and shopped in record stores in cities, college towns, etc., and really never experienced the "music snob record store clerk" even at shops that specifically cater to the hipster crowd. Leave it to South Bend to be the place where someone rocking out to Hoobastank feels he's earned enough cred to treat someone like crap just because she mentioned a band he's never heard of (and not exactly an obscure, specialty niche band at that). Between never really having the latest indie releases and that kind of service, the loyalty we've clung to for years just can't hold on anymore -- though we'll still drop in to see what kind of vinyl goodies fall out of the sky. The used vinyl is a draw, and Orbit deserves credit for that. read more

You know, growing up in Elkhart, there were 2 record stores worth anything: SuperSounds and Orbit Music. I came back after having lived in Chicago for many moons and decided that it was time for my long since overdue pilgrimage to Orbit. Much to my dismay I first find that it has moved. Once I finally find the store, I realize it is a mere shadow of its former self. I refer here to both size and contents of the store. Very sad! However, today is National Record Store day so I suppose I'll make one last trip to pull the knife from it's barely beating heart and let it bleed out with dignity. read more

One day I was in the mood to buy a record for my collection. I looked up places online and this one showed. I gave it a try. The shop had a variety of used records. If you are looking for older used albums than this place is for you. I asked about a new artist that I knew was on vinyl. They did not have it because the new record selection was very limited. They were able to order it. By the time they found what I wanted and then they added the shops percent to the percentage to the price it would have been just as easy for me to shop online as I have in the past. In my latest experience, I ordered some hard to get Cd's for a Christmas gift for my fiancee. They assured me they could get them within a week. After calling a couple times a week and listening to them assure me it would be in the next shipment, they tell me two and a half weeks later (December 23rd) that they weren't going to be able to obtain the Cd's I'd ordered and put a down payment on, so I should come back in and get my money back. Needless to say it put me in a panic to try and get a gift for my fiancee with one day to go. read more

Go to down load it get half way threw says enter product key i did sorry but that product key has been used sorry but COD MW2 was unable to download... I called and and talk to them they said well we can give u in store credit but not ur money back i spent $40 on a game that i cant play!!!! and to top it off nobody can play it with out the old owners steam account with Orbit dose not take down information of the games they buy......... read more
