    Entry way to Video Games

This is our 2nd time going to Orbit! Always have the best service and if you have any questions they'll help! It is a great place that has Blu-ray, DVD, VHS, and Video Games on the other side! It isn't just a regular movie store, there's movies from other countries, movies you've never heard of or seen! The prices are understandable for what they are worth. 100/10!:)

Wow. This place has an AMAZING selection of video games and consoles. Walking into their video game room is like walking into a museum. Every time I go they have some new things I've never laid eyes on! Sometimes they even have modded Gameboy systems which is cool. They have had some pretty rare stuff come in in the past.

Dude. If you like movies and geeky stuff this is the place to be! I went to this place several times while in town. They have the best selection of movies to rent of any place I've been to since, well, Blockbuster (RIP) was open. Orbit has a ton of obscure movies and has some old Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo (and others) games to purchase. They even have some vinyl and I found a couple Dario Argento movie scores-that I made myself not purchase to save money! I even bought their damn t shirt! Anyway listen...GO HERE.

I grew up in the 80s and 90s. My family spent most Friday nights browsing our local video store and trying to convince each other what movies we needed to watch over the weekend. This place gives me that nostalgic feeling of family and simpler times. Even though it's more of a 'nerd chic' kinda spot these days, it's still relieving that enough folks prefer the tangible experience to the digital one that this place stays open. There's still hope!! Haha! Seriously though- the care and effort that's gone into this place is most appreciated by the true cinephile. I love it. Go here.

Sunday 2/15 I went to purcase a used Wii under the suggestion of my grandson . Not being able to…read morepurchase myself being on a fixed income from disabilty he gave me 200 dollars to buy a console and a few games . With help I purchased a Wii, 5 games ,a chip to play camecube games and a controller . The next afternoon I went Bestbuy to purchase an rca to hdmi adapter after getting i home i set everything up . Console wont read disc ( try a couple time , even checked google) it keeps not working . I call the Cavern and they say to bring it in . HERES WHERE IT GETS GOOD ... When I brought in the console they tell me THE SERIAL NUMBER DOESNT MATCH THE RECEIPT. Its the same unit THE SAME ONE and they say there is nothing they can or will do . So Im/we're out 150 dollars and there is nothing I can do about it . Heres the scam - the units have the company serial number on the console and the console , controller, cords are all shirink wrapped together . The Caverns label only has a price and bar code with no other info for the customer to verify . So when they print the receipt thats it ALL SALES FINAL they dont verify the serial number against anything themselves . Yes the next day they point out the serial number on the console doesnt match the printed serial number on the receipt . I didnt know I had to check the receipt against the actual console he just scanned infront of me . SCAMMED I thank my grandson for trying to give me a liitle joy , at least his heart is in the right place. I had download YELP just for the post ... Yes it is the first review ive made . This blaten con easy to slip by . I can see if I came in 3 months later to complain ,but 24 hours ? Keep up the good work The Video Game Cavern .

Malaprop's will forever be one of my favorite indie bookstores. I first fell in love with it back…read morein 2021 when I lived in AVL. I liked the name so much because I was the type of person who used malaprops a good amount. It's extra charming because you're able to order something from their cafe while reading your book. This spot is deceptively huge. The different sections are very intentional and beautifully organized. I had an especially great time looking at the "Beautiful Books" section this visit. I ended up falling in love with a short stories book by Chips Hardy that I took home. I also adored their graphic t-shirts here. I am not a big t-shirt person, but always want more graphic tees, so was so excited to love this one so much. I had a really special experience with one of the booksellers here on my recent visit too. I could not find The Enchanted April in the fiction section and when I asked, one of the booksellers got really excited about the author and that book. She passionately told me how wonderful the book was. We were sad to see it was sold out, but suggested I check a bookstore a block over. I love this bookstore and think everyone should make it a stop on an Asheville trip.

It seems as though it's only open until the afternoon though, as it wasn't staffed when we were there. But there's still plenty of seating if you wanted to sit a spell. The bookstore portion is really well curated with a nice "local" section featuring local writers and interest. I love checking out this section when I travel and there was a ton to dig into here. They also have a good sized kid's section most notable thing is how many books they offer with autographed copies. That means they seem to bring in a ton of writers which is so exciting for the Asheville community. Speaking of community, I peeked at their events calendar and it looks like they have a ton of book clubs in a variety of different genres that meet regularly. So no matter your interest (romance, science fiction, mystery, horror, etc) you can find a meetup. Some are hosted in store but others in local breweries, libraries, and other third spaces in the area. Excellent offerings across the board!
