After having a scheduled Lyft not show up and both Uber and Lyft with no drivers to get me to an early morning flight at PVD I almost gave up hope. I called and within 8 minutes Kevin showed up. Got me to the airport with no issues and was a great conversation on the way there. Ask for Kevin. But next time I tried to call the dispatcher was very rude, claimed they made no reservations, and hung up on me. They have lost my business for good. Wow. Terrible experience with Orange Cab. Yelp and their own website say they cover the North Kingston and Narragansett areas, and I've ridden with them in these areas a dozen times before. I need a ride in two weeks from the Block Island Ferry to Providence, so I call them to book it. Woman answers the phone. I start to talk and she cuts me off "YEAH WE DON'T BOOK IN ADVANCE YOU HAVE TO CALL SAME DAY." Stunned at her tone I say "Okay, so to book a ride from Narragansett to Providence at 9am for a date two weeks from now I have to call at 8am on the same day?" "YEAH WE DON'T DO RIDES ON THAT SIDE OF THE BRIDGE SORRY HONEY." I'll just chalk it up to her having a bad day but wow. So much for that $120 cab fare. I'll rent a limo I guess. read more

Was hesitant to use this cab company after reading the reviews but after spending an entire weekend in Newport where this was the only taxi service available (no Uber's, all other cab companies closed due to covid), Orange was entirely reliable the whole weekend. Horrible experience with Orange cab. I scheduled a ride from Naval Station Newport, Rhode Island all the way to Boston Logan airport. The ride was for 3am and confirmed. The driver picked me up (smelling of cigarettes and slight B.O also in the van). As we began the drive I reminded the driver that I needed to go to Boston Airport when he said we're heading to Providence airport. He threw a fit and became very annoyed. In fact, his driving became slightly sporadic. He refused to take me all the way to Boston airport, and complained all the way to Fall River, MA. He pulled off the highway into a closed gas station. I had to call an Uber to complete my trip to Boston. He also notified me that the trip from NS Newport, RI to Fall River was already $62.00. He said the whole trip would be around $375.00 which was absurd. When the Uber arrived he was surprised that I was charged that amount already, let alone the ridiculous price I would've incurred if I kept going with orange cab. Never again will I utilize this company or taxis in general if I can avoid it. read more

Guy arrives, turns meter on, castle hill inn to downtown costs $23 and he tells me the tax isn't included in the meter. Ended up costing like 28 bucks after tip (my wife, ever generous, paid) My Uber the way home was $8. Nicer car, no annoying job radio, no tip, easier and driver wasn't a skeeze. read more

Service varies depending on the driver but they pick you up quickly and know every bar and restaurant in the area. If you need a ride during the night shift ask for Bruce. He's nice, friendly and will tell you the best places to go. read more

Awful customer service... Outside of the van smelling like an ashtray and the driver giving us her life story and guilting us into participaing in a conversation we weren't interested in, at least they were on time. However, they failed to provide a reciept and told me to "call orange to have one emailed to you"... When I did so, I was told if I didn't get one at the time, they can't send it to me. I was there on military orders and now will have to FIGHT to be reimbursed the more than $100 cab fare from Newport Naval base to Providence. They certainly profit off of the military that HAVE to use a cab to get around, but won't even provide basic customer service. Use Uber. read more

This shuttle service from airport to Newport is a total disaster. It arrived 15 minutes late. The driver did not help women with suitcases. They had no place to put suitcases in the van and so the bags took all the legroom. The AC didn't work for the passengers in extreme heat- but apparently the driver was comfortable. The 25-minute ride took over an hour as we kept going to hotels where he had no passengers that wanted to go there. When we go to the Marriott, where 6 of us were headed, he drove through and headed to the next place, until we all yelled. Then he asked why we hadn't specified Marriott. Clearly, we all said Marriott to him when we boarded at airport. There were 7 passengers and 6 had declared Marriott...! My advice- take a taxi, hitch-hike, share a cab, but do not get suckered onto this disaster. A few years ago the shuttle worked well- now it is a disaster. read more

Plain and simple, our cab was 15 minutes late, which is unacceptable for an airport run to catch a first flight out. We called ahead for a reservation and reconfirmed the night before. Their dispatch DID NOT answer the phone, the driver could not find the house, and we learned enroute that the driver also had a passenger drop off that clearly contributed to her being late. Similar to some other reviews , our driver was courteous and professional. Clearly it is the management that's the problem. Save yourself a headache and avoid this taxi service. read more

I just got done waiting for a cab at Stop & Shop Bellevue Ave in Newport, that was supposed to take 20 minutes, but after 45 minutes, no cab showed up. Here is the timeline of my calls 1:44pm Call placed for cab service, told 20 minutes by dispatcher. 2:09pm call placed to find out what was going on with it, was told he was on his way 2:25 Called, No Answer 2:27 Called No Answer 2:29 Called No Answer. That was just today, yesterday, almost the same thing happened with a cab call from CVS on Bellevue, the cab never showed up yesterday, so I walked home. Unfortunately, they are the only show in town, in Newport, so they have a monopoly. I am reporting them to the PUC, because this was not right. read more

Earlier today, I called nd ordered a cab for my autistic son, for pickup at Kingstom Amtrak station, due to mixups between his mother (who lives near there) and me (I'm near Boston). Orange Cab was recommended by whomever had answered at Kingston Station, and when I called them, they promised me they would be there when his train arrived, and wrote down his name, train number, my number, etc. Train then arrives and... NOPE. Nobody there. My autistic son is left waiting alone, afraid, in an unlit, dark station for 1/2 hour. Don't count on Orange Cab! If you elect to use them, have a backup plan. Planned to take the first shuttle and called the night before to set up a cab to the pickup. Cab didn't show, and when I called they had no record of my call the night before. Parking at TF Green in the Express E lot is not expensive and less than your fare for up to two weeks when all combined. Drive and park at the airport, and use Uber, Newport! Wish we'd read the reviews before we booked with Orange Cabs. The metered rate is extortionate. I live in NYC where cabs are expensive and the rate was at least twice NY rates. Also, they charge you tax on top of the metered fare. Surely that is illegal. I've travelled the world and never been charged anything (except discretionary tip) on top of the metered rate. Do not use this company!! They quoted us 10-15 minutes and 1 hour later we were still waiting. Once the cab finally showed up we thought "The worst is over, we are on our way." We were wrong. The meter read $10.50, the driver paused and said $14.00. You had extra passengers. He said "If you have a problem, call my boss" we did, but more on that later. They clearly display an American Express sticker in the window but when we handed one over to the driver, it was rejected. Definitely regret using this company. We were quoted $70 for our trip when we called, but we were charged $104. In addition to the exorbitant pricing, the driver was texting and driving, almost crashing into a cement median. He charged us more than what the meter stated, adding in his own math and calculations. When we told him we were quoted $70, he said that the person who told me that was wrong and they don't know what trips cost. Called for a pick up at Kingston train station at 3, nothing showed up at 3, nothing showed up at 3:15. Called at 3:25, was told that it would take another 20-25 minutes... The operator was completely unapologetic about my cab being almost an hour late. Still waiting as I am writing this review. Who knows if they will ever show up. They literally won't pick you up half the time. As unorganized as you can get. Just now I had a few guests wait 30 minutes (I work in a hotel) when they said they would be here in 15. When I called back, they said someone already came and left. No phone call. No driver asking for people at the front desk. Nothing. This is merely one time out of many, many other bad experiences I've had with them. The worst part is that it is practically the only taxi service around here (Aquidneck Island). Taxi companies may be complaining of the popularity that Uber is amassing, but until they get their sh!t together, they need to hold their tongues because if they aren't going to do it, then someone else will. Seriously, if you want reliable taxiing services in RI, or at least Aquidneck Island, it is honestly better to set up an account with Uber than to use these guys. Ordered two cabs hours before needed. Followed up two hours before needed cabs. Only one cab showed up...20 minutes late! Driver was very unprofessional. Jumped out of his car and lite a cigarette to "shoot the breeze". I'm from NY and don't shoot the breeze when I have places to be. The actually cab smelled like garbage and I'm sure the driver was drunk. The rest of the girls that could not fit in the cab had to drive themselves to Newport in order to make our reservations. This company has 1&1/2 stars? Where did that extra half come from? I've worked in dispatching, and this is one of the worst shitshows I've seen. I called with more than an hour to make my ferry at Pt. Judith from Kingston Station. I was told it might take 20-30 minutes for the driver to get to me, but I would make my ferry, no problem. I called 3 times to check on the status as it got close to the arrival time. Each time I was assured I would make my ferry, the driver was just in a bit of traffic. When my ferry was going to be leaving in 15 minutes I called again to explain my predicament and was told, for the 4th time, that the driver would be there in 5 minutes. Transferred to management, and no pun intended, I told him that ship was literally sailing and I was not making my ferry, but I COULD HAVE IF THE DISPATCHER HAD BEEN HONEST WITH ME. I would have even signed up for Uber if it would have gotten me to that ferry. THEN I was told that it was against the law for the company to comp me the ride (not true), and that his manager can't be reached until Monday. I was on the phone with him when one of their cabs arrived, but not MY cab. The manager made him take me anyway, and then I got into a cab that REEKED of cigarette smoke. Now I'm sitting on a ferry that will be leaving, and arriving at Block Island, more than a hour and a half after I had carefully planned for, causing me to miss the welcome/rehearsal dinner of my best friend's wedding. I will be creating an Uber account JUST for the return trip. Terrible beginning to end. read more
