I had been dealing with some severe neck pain for several days and didn't think I was going to make it through work on one particularly bad day last week. On a whim I looked up acupuncture offices near my work and came across Dr. Wang's Orange Acupuncture. After inquiring about getting an appointment on my lunch, a mere two hours ahead of time, I was delighted when Dr. Wang promptly responded stating he could get me in at my desired time. That type of tech savy customer service made the appointment booking painless and started the whole experience off on the right foot. After I replied, Dr. Wang confirmed my appointment time and had directions for me via email. He even uses his ipad or tablet at his clinic to run charge cards and also sent the receipt via email. I'd never been to an acupuncturist that did this, and it added a more professional touch, in my opinion.
Dr. Wang is fairly new to the area; at the time that I went he had only been there 3 weeks and that's the reason I think I was able to get an appointment the same day. The office is a little small, but it's clean, and it allows the Dr. to be efficient with his space. Dr. Wang is extremely polite and kind. He listens extremely well and is very thoughtful when deciding on the best plan to aid in relieving or helping the patient. He explains what he is going to do for you in simple terms, making sure everything is clear to you before he starts. He's gentle and precise with his needles - I wasn't sure some of them were even in. But as I laid on the bed under the heat with the needles in, I felt my muscles relaxing and energy flowing from my feet to my head. The vibrations I felt were incredible; the most tangible energy I have ever felt during an acupuncture session. My whole body was invigorated and I actually forgot that I was there to get the pain from my neck worked on. When I sat up, I realized that my pain was 95% gone and I was so relaxed. The pain returned next day, but it was so much more dull, and by the third day it was completely gone.
I really appreciated the way Dr. Wang conducted his business. He was straight up when he told me that because it was pain in a concentrated area, he didn't recommend a treatment plan and that this one session should suffice. I've been to places that will try to sell you on a deal no matter what your ailment and his lack of pressure was refreshing and another reason I would be back to see Dr. Wang.
There was one facet of the experience that I wouldn't label as negative, but it could bother some people, and I have to mention it. The music ranges from Chinese pop music, to atmospheric swells, to American Christmas music. I thought that was funny and it actually brought my spirits up because it felt so light-hearted and innocent. I would actually be disappointed if I went back and the music had changed to the typical Enya sounding soundtrack to massage/acupuncture experiences.
In closing I just want to thank Dr. Wang for the speedy recovery. This was my first yelp review, but I hope it was somewhat helpful. But if it's not clear, I would highly recommend Orange Acupuncture with Dr. Wang to anybody.
