Dr.Powell is the best there is. I had to get nine teeth extracted in preparation for upper and lower plates... The worst part of any procedure is the injections, but Dr. Powell was quick and on a scale of 1 to 10 my shots were probably a 4 at the most.. Excellent work!!! Three of the nine teeth came out in one piece, but six broke and had to be dug out. Even with that I didn't feel a thing. Dr. and I were kidding around with each other during the visit and it made the visit more enjoyable. I was told how to do the after care and that would have a lot of pain due to how hard the teeth came out. But everything wore off and I am taking the Norco I was prescribed, but I really believe that by tomorrow I will just be on Tylenol... Pain is not bad at all. I have not given to many reviews and never one that would receive an excellence from me. Usually I feel if a business receives a 5 score it was the business writing their own reviews, lol. However today is my first, and who would think it would be for a tooth extraction? Dr. Powell you did a great job, helped me feel comfortable with the focus on a painless, and positive experience. I saw Dr. Powell for 4 extractions. Definitely not the most fun or exciting thing to review, but Dr. Powell and his assistant were amazing. I made an appointment for a consult and got in within about 2 weeks. During the appointment, he looked at my X-rays and explained what I could expect during the procedure. He kept assuring me that everything was going to be really easy and routine. I originally wanted to be knocked out (who wants to be awake for that?!) but he said it would cost a lot more for that and recommended the laughing gas. He told me I'd have to get 10 shots of Novicane and the laughing gas helps to ease the pain of the shots and make you feel better about the experience. I was able to get an appointment for the extractions a week later on Valentine's Day. So, with a nauseous stomach, my hubby brought me to my appointment on V-day. Dr. Powell's assistant was extremely friendly before the procedure and went over what was going to happen during the extractions and even tried to calm me down when she noticed I was scared. I wish I caught her name because she was so sweet! Dr. Powell came in and started me in with the gas. I really didn't think it changed or affected anything until I started trying to sing during the procedure. I guess the gas must have made me a bit loopy. The shots really are the worst part, but anyone that's had any dental work knows the shots in the gums are painful. Once I got past that part, it was smooth sailing. My entire face was numb and I felt like I had a fat lip, which meant it was time for the procedure. It's a little bizarre to be awake while they're taking your teeth out, but I tried to focus on other things. I guess that was why I started to sing? The whole procedure went really fast and took about a half an hour. The dental assistant went very thoroughly through the after-care instructions including what to eat, drink, etc. She also gave me a printed list of instructions in case I forgot. Then, she gauzed me up and I was on my merry way to sleep it off. I would highly recommend Dr. Powell and his office. Everyone I encountered was very nice and professional. read more

It located at Briar-cliff professional center. Look for sign pull in on the left. Dr Powell was AWESOME. He blows away the women at the other oral surgery group in Bourbonnias. I felt no pain. It was a smooth pull. I found his personality to be outgoing/energetic/funny. He is in network for Delta PPO the other group isn't. I can highly recommend him without hesitation. Can't say the same about the other oral surgery group in Bourbonnais that women pull a tooth and took big chunk out of tooth next to it. Hello Dr . Powell to pull it. read more

I had all four of my wisdom teeth taken out by Dr. Desai and it was a great experience (aside from the pain of course). From the start every one was so nice and polite and you could tell they really care about the patient. Even on the phone they did not seem in a hurry or like they were busy doing something else like some receptionists do. I had to go back in before my one week check up because I was having pain and I saw Dr. Powell because Desai was up north, but he was just as professional and polite as Desai. I can't say enough good things about this place. I will definitely come back in the future if I need more dental work done read more

Dr. Desai makes an rather unpleasant experience pleasant. He's great at what he does and the office staff is professional and friendly.

I was seeing Dr. Desai to have all of my impacted wisdom teeth extracted. Now I don't have a great past with any dentists or oral surgeons. Having a root canal at age 3 and seeing more than 14 dentists by the age of 10. I was very nervous going into this. He explained the procedure to me and answered any questions I had. He is a great doctor. My surgery was done in 30 mins start to finish and this was probably the most PAINLESS procedure I've ever had done. I will totally come back here for any oral surgery needs. Saw Dr. Desai, and he did damage to another tooth and wouldn't fix it. Saw Dr. Powell to have 2 things done. He charged me for both, got the work done, and then realized he only did one of the procedures. When questioned why he charged me, but didn't do the second procedure, things got ugly. POWELL PULLS THE WRONG TEETH, !!! This inept excuse for a surgeon went against my dentists order and extracted the good tooth we were going to bridge to. He then promised in written form that he would provide implant at no cost , he then changed his mind when I was told by my dentist I needed 2 implants in the place he extracted 2 teeth not just 1. His feelings were hurt when I wrote him a stern letter explaining why I need 2 implants. now the cheap greedy coward refuses to provide any after admitting in writtinhis mistake. The surgery performed by the Dr was perfect. My complaint is with their billing personal. I received the first bill with the III on it, as i'm not a Jr. I made a first payment. I never received another bill and honestly never throught about it again. I never received another bill. I was going through my parents mail organizing it and found a bill but not made to Jr or III. Opened it and it was a final notice threatening to send me to collections. If their staff would of sent this to the correct person, I would of paid it. Avoid at all cost, as a few years ago they did the exact same thing! read more
