Master Sonny Le has infused very refined and skilled techniques into the art of Kung Fu. Disciples of the Academy are actively engaging their physical bodies while grasping mental concepts such as deeper concentration, critical thinking and coordination between the mind and body. Throughout my time under the teachings of Master Sonny Le, I have developed a better sense of my strengths, abilities and self-confidence. The Academy provides a welcoming environment with other students which recognizes our weaknesses in order to overcome them, encouragement to keep us moving forward and the knowledge necessary in order to achieve our own personal goals. My time at North York Kung Fu Academy has enabled me to fulfill my own ambitions and I have successfully completed the Single Kung Fu nunchuku (Shao Zi Gun) and am currently pursuing the intermediate level for the Kung Fu nunchaku and Wing Chun self-defense system.

This place is a family run business (The Ooi family are all instructors at each of the GTA locations). Mr. Ooi, has a straight forward philosophy, work hard, get results and don't be afraid to sweat. The trophies and loyalty of students, that have moved on, are a tribute to that.

Eldest was a shy apprehensive girl who flat out refused to participate in any activity, until she was warmly greeted by Sensei Mercier at the dojo. The team acknowledges every child upon arrival, and each is supported as they develop leadership and teamwork skills. My youngest started at age three...clingy and always on my leg, but again, Senpai Oswald and Sensai Mercier immediately identified his needs and intervened to make him feel an important part of the karate community. He now prompts us to help him prepare for class, and asks to participate in all events run by the dojo. The staff encourage parental involvement while fostering independence from the children. My son was even invited to participate while his leg as in a cast! He never felt he was less able then the other children... Again because of the individualized attention he received. We are so grateful to the PCAMA for becoming an integral part of our children's lives. Don't hesitate!

I was told each belt takes 3 to 6 months to get . i got as high as orange they told me red would take 9 months they just wanted me sign up for another year. they said there a big step up from orange to red the adult class said there like no difference big jump from blue to purple wonder if they still SCAMMING PEOPLE TODAY!

This provides self-improvement of mind, body and spirit to all students - young and old. Opened in 1999, it is family owned and operated with an expansive set of connections within the martial arts community locally and internationally. It is a friendly and informative learning atmosphere with a Sensei who always attends directly to students growth. The instruction is tailored to each student, not to a dojo 'formula' or teaching method. We all are individuals and treated as such. Sensei Jonathan teaches all classes, and students routinely get one on one guidance. He maintains traditional GoJu Ryu karate values of courtesy and respect. There are regular on the mat in depth discussions as to the 'why's' behind what is taught. This greatly helps student's understanding of the meaning and connection between techniques. Sensei constantly educates himself, and this shows in the way he teaches students. He has a wealth of practical knowledge and teaches it well. Parents bring their children to attend classes; then join themselves.....what better reference can you get. The dojo is very conveniently located close to the QEW at Bronte, Lakeshore and Bronte Go Station in Oakville, with ample free parking. I highly recommend this dojo.
