There wasn't much street parking this morning, but you can actually park in the parking garage right before Snooze. The clinic validates parking so it should be free for an hour or so. I met with Dr. Colleen Brown and one of her specialties is skin care. You see, I had a disgusting infection on my new tattoo. She was very professional and direct. Just asked me what's wrong and prescribed me some medication. Easy peasy.

She said they had a backlog of 5,000 uprocessed referrals. I can't even fathom what this would mean my healthcare needs were dire. - My PCP turned off my ability to message her after one message. - Recently I showed up for a dermatology appointment and, after disrobing and waiting, I was told I couldn't be seen that day because I had an endocrinology appointment earlier that day, completely wasting hours of my time. Yet it was someone within Perlman Clinic who had booked both appointments for me. - They have ZERO holistic options. The ONLY PCP I could find with a holistic (ie TRULY "integrative") background was fully booked out with no option for a waitlist. - The first PCP I tried with them, when I asked her "do you trust me to know my own body" looked me straight in the eye and, deadpan, said "No." Then she proceeded to get very agitated. - A recent referral was denied by my insurance and they claimed they had no interest in disputing it. - A doctor I waited a month to get in to see cancelled two hours before with no reason or apology, and bumped me right to the back of the line again, forcing me to wait another month to see her. - The endocrinologist I've been working with clearly has zero real knowledge. My research and conversation with functional doctors has shown me that if I flat out listened to her, it could be dangerous for my health. - My insurance denied thousands upon thousands of dollars worth of claims because they were incorrectly submitted. - The clinics emulate complete lack of health. Everyone who works there looks and feels so unhappy and unhealthy. I have trouble understanding how these are the people we should be counting on for our health? - As if this list weren't long enough, there's so much more beyond this - all WAY too long to list here. Update: After posting this review, I received a phone call from someone who pretended to care. But it was crystal clear in their speech that they cared ZERO. Every time I have expressed concern I've been met with inauthentic, canned speech (poorly) designed to suppress people.

I told the lady at the front desk that I felt like I was having a heart attack. She immediately brought me back and 3-5 people jumped in and worked on me. They immediately called an ambulance for me to be rushed to the hospital. It wasn't a heart attack but it was an arrhythmia. Normal heart rate is 60-100 bpm, my heart was at 240 bpm!!! That was terrifying. When I was at the hospital, the doc and cardiologist said it was good I went to urgent care when I did bc they were able to get my vitals and heart scans to quickly determine it was SVT. I want to say a huge THANK YOU to the ladies at AFC. If it wasn't for your quick action and quick assessment, I don't know what would've happened. The hospital might not have received the info to determine it was SVT. I am in treatment now and recovered fully with a preventative plan. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!!!!!!

The website was easy to navigate with the option to walk-in or schedule an appointment. I opted to schedule an appointment in two hours. The appointment scheduling system was a breeze and very user friendly. I saved a bunch of time uploading my Driver's License, Insurance Card and filling out all my information. I received text and email updates. I arrived 30 minutes before my appointment and the receptionist was friendly and checked me in, even though there was a QR code to scan for self-check. The waiting room was 75% full, so I opted to sit near the door one seat away from other patients on either side. While waiting there was a steady flow of patients coming and going. What I disliked was when a new patient sat right next to me when there was a row of three empty seats. I feel like it's just good manners to sit far apart when possible. Nurse Ashley took me back to check my vitals 8 minutes after my schedule appointment. Instead of measuring my height and weight she asked me. She did take my blood pressure, pulse and temperature. She brought me back to wait in a treatment room. After 15-20 minutes she came back to inform me that I will be seen by a provider shortly and thank you for waiting. I made myself comfy in the armchair. It was probably another 30 minutes before Dr. MacKenzie came in. She asked a few questions, took a look at me, gave me her diagnosis but wanted a second opinion and asked me to wait a little longer. Another doctor came in, asked some questions, looked at me and felt my eyes, gave the same diagnosis and departed. Dr. MacKenzie explained the diagnosis, prescribed a steroid, antihistamine and topic ointment. These were all ready for me before I arrived at my preferred pharmacy. What I appreciated the most was her level of care. I respected that she took time to get a second opinion and thoroughly explained everything to me and answered all my questions. While it's never fun to go to the hospital, she eased my anxiety for sure. I highly recommend this location for urgent care needs and hope that you are lucky to get Dr. MacKenzie.

Tucked away, this location is a bit hidden in the streets behind Ralph's in Mission Valley. The building has dedicated parking, a small lot with tight parking spaces. They have other clinics here as well if you're a Scripps patient. The lab is located on the second floor, down a hallway, a doorway that is hidden in the middle. Not easy to find except for the flag up high saying LAB. One time I tried to get my labs done late into evening. Their hours are till 7pm, which I thought, great, I don't have to take time out of my day and get it done after work. Get there at 6:30, doors are locked and no one is to be found anywhere. Not inside the lab, not outside the lab, only except the cleaning lady in the hallway. So after just standing around figuring out why the lab is closed... with signs stating open until 7 pm. To me that means the door should be open until 7 pm with someone there to draw labs. Almost 10 minutes later, I finally I see an employee person run out into the hallway and I yell out. Hi, can you help me? Is there someone supposed to be in the lab?!? The doors are locked!?! She looked surprised and came my way. I asked, do they close early? Sign says till 7 pm. She responded, there should be someone there, let me find them. Hooray, she was able to get into the lab and find someone in the back! Unfortunately it was still not good news for me. He came out grumpily and said I couldn't get labs drawn. I asked why, he said that he needed to be done and gone by 7. I said ok, it's not 7. Your sign says open until 7 pm. Doors were locked... We argued for another 5-10 minutes for the reasoning of why even have a sign if you lock the doors well before 7 pm. He stated he needed to get all these things done before 7 pm so HE can leave at 7. Again, I told him that's not my problem. Your sign says open until 7pm. I should be able to come in up until 7 pm and be helped. He finally gave me a slip to fill out. Pulled up my labs and said nope! I can't get them drawn. I said WHY?!?! He said he would have to draw, then wait X amount of time, put it in the machine and wait X amount more time. He wouldn't be done by 7 pm. It was already almost 6:50 now! OMG, that is my problem HOW?!?!? We told him, we've been here since 6:30 outside knocking... another sign on the door that has incorrect info says to do so if the doors are closed. He just looked at me blankly and said I dunno and we grabbed the sign and handed it to him. He said it was for lunchtime and was not correct anyways. More bad info!?! He pretty much said next I couldn't get my labs done that evening and I had to come back the next day and 12 hours after taking my medication. Really?!? Another tidbit of info I was not aware of!?! And that he can schedule an appt for me the next day. That's it. Horrible service! Wrong info! A useless sign of operating hours! Why even post that if the staff lock the doors way before that time?!? WHY?!? Waste of time. Arguing back and forth. A big giant headache with an extra side of frustration. I dragged my poor hubs along for this ridiculousness because we were going to grab dinner after. A couple days later got a call from a lady calling to apologize for the situation and confusion. The staff that was there that night was new and confused and didn't know he COULD draw my labs and was supposed to have the doors open and unlocked until 7 pm. I did get his manager's info that evening but never bother calling cause I didn't want to waste even more time I'm never going to be able to recover going round and round in circles trying to make nonsense of a sign that was clear to me yet services were still not rendered. Never again. I will have to waste my time during the day apparently! 2025: 16

Taylor through the online portal about three weeks ago. I am a new patient, and I entered all of my information during the booking process. At no point was I told that Dr. Taylor was not accepting new patients. Despite that, the system still allowed me to book the appointment, sent me through the process, and confirmed it. I chose Dr. Taylor at the Adams Avenue location very intentionally, because she is one of the few medical doctors there and many of the other available appointments appear to be with physician assistants. I arrived on time for my 10:00 AM appointment only to be told, after the fact, that I could not be seen because she does not accept new patients. That is not the patient's mistake. That is the clinic's mistake. A competent medical office does not allow patients to schedule appointments that were never going to be honored. A competent office does not wait until the patient is physically standing at the front desk to finally mention a restriction they should have disclosed from the start. And a competent office does not treat a patient's time as disposable because their own system is broken. This clinic needs to take responsibility for its own failures instead of pushing the consequences onto patients. If the online portal is inaccurate, fix it. If the staff knows certain doctors are not accepting new patients, stop those appointments from being booked. If management is aware of this issue and has done nothing, that is even worse. Patients should not have to pay for this clinic's disorganization with their time and energy. This was careless, misleading, and deeply unprofessional.

I've never had any trouble getting an appointment relatively quickly. Wait times are not long in my experience. Minuses: Some things he does not seem to be super knowledgeable on, that in my mind a PCP should be solidly up on. For example, vaccinations. I let him know I'd like to get up to date with vaccinations and he insisted that adults don't need them. Suspecting that this was not altogether correct, I went to CVS Minute Clinic and they were able to provide me with a CDC list and give the boosters and vaccinations that have become standard since I was born (Hep B, A).I realize that travel vaccinations are a totally different ballgame, but with basic childhood vaccinations I would think he'd be in the know. I get the impression that retirement is near and that he may not be as sharp as he once was, although I have been seeing him for only a couple of years. I don't know that I would return to him if I were having a serious ailment as some of the things he's said have sounded off (as in, contrary to everything other doctors & the internet have told me) but for regular checkups he has always seemed very thorough and pleasant!

In the very few instances I have questioned her (really just to make sure I understood what she meant), she *immediately* provided recommendations/referrals for me to get a second opinion if I would like- her first goal is ALWAYS to make sure I get the care I need and am able to address my medical concerns how I see fit. Referrals can take awhile to come through, but calls on my end to the insurance always reveal the problem is with the insurance provider lagging. My recommendation is to communicate via MyChart, which she and Dr. Barbara do a wonderful job of corresponding on regarding appointments, online virtual visits, and addressing general questions.
