Dr Beck's Second Opinion... Just last week, I took a friend to another doctor (not Dr Beck). He said her eyes have been changing every year since she has been seeing him back in the late 90's. But, there appeared to be a problem. She has said she can not see well even with the glasses prescribed just last year. Then after further questioning, she indicated she has not seen well for a long time. And she said that her prescription changes each year and requires new glasses. So I asked to see her past prescriptions. Each prescription was different. But not progressively worse as one would expect with progressive eye problems. For those of you with astigmatism, the Axis reading changed along with other readings which would show back and forth between her eyes getting better, then reversing to getting worse. Not what you would expect. Time for a second opinion! Came here to Dr Beck. Went today for the second opinion. She explained her vision as everyone does and then continued with the exam. He photographed the inside of her eyes, continued with all the normal tests, read her glasses to see the prescription as made by the manufacturer and then proceeded with her prescription exam. Here are the results. 1. Concern about the varied prior to present prescriptions. 2. Current prescription from 4 days ago is wrong. 3. Current glasses from a year ago do not match the prescription from when they were prescribed. 4. Bifocals were prescribed at the wrong strength. 5. The axis for the astigmatism was wrong resulting in blurred vision even with the glasses. While a lot of this sounds to be a responsibility of the patient, let me ask a simple question. If you put your trust in a doctor for twenty years, you would expect that doctor to provide you with the best possible care? Well. I believe that doctor has provided his best. Unfortunately, his "best" isn't good enough. Now the reason for this review. As we told the first doctors nurses the problem she was experiencing, they said that a lot of his patient complain about the same thing. After the exam, the changes did not relate to what she expressed. There appears to be a systemic problem here. Be willing to get a second opinion. My friend will now see better than she has in 20 years because she went to see Dr Beck for a Second Opinion. Thank you Dr Beck. read more

I've been going to optix for about a year. First, they worked out my prescription which has been giving me headaches every time I walk for about ten years. Now, no more headaches. The glasses are fashionable with lots of options and everyone there is always friendly. This place saved me today! I was in town moving my oldest into school and my contact literally ripped in half. I was stuck 2 hours away from home and completely blind. I started calling around and Optix was the only place willing to help me out. I wasn't sure how I would get back home not being able to see. Has 2 drs names listed yet only Mr Beck works. He was out of the office 3 weeks at least .So it was many weeks between exam. He was late for appointment, so I had to return for glasses choice. I had ordered preview frames. They didn't call when they were ready. These where wrapped in cardboard and not what I asked for. So hell with it- on this third visit I forked out 900$ for glasses . Again I had to be the one to call. "Oh Dr. is on vacation this time. He is the on to check them." O.K. following me here? Next visit get glasses. Lady hands me them. I say they don't fit right. "Try to wear them for 2-3 weeks. You"ll get used to them.I would be wearing my perfectly good old glasses if they hadn't been adjusted by her. read more

Thorough, professional. It's worth your time to go to someone that takes time to make sure your eyes are healthy and your prescription is right. Big box fast service doesn't cut it, I've tried several and it always causes issues with incorrect prescriptions or incorrect fittings. read more

Great visit! They called ahead to confirm insurance information and appointment so we didn't spend as much time in the waiting room filling out forms. Eye appointment went well, Dr. Beck answered any questions I had and didn't seem rushed through the appointment. He also made sure to discuss the new contact prescription with me, and gave me a few days wearing the new lens to decide whether or not that would work for me or not. The ladies at the front desk were very helpful, and gave me space to look at glasses. When I decided on a pair, they gave me a great discount, and they were ready within 2 days! Always courteous and knowledgeable! They were able to prescribe a specialty lens that was perfect for those who deal with dizziness and vertigo issues. Great Drs. Really listened to the problems I was having with my contacts. They looked at different options and came up with a solution!

Dr. Beck does a great job, but my advice is to take your prescription and get your glasses somewhere else because the staff in charge of the glass store is completely incompetent! I had to go there 3 times because they didn't make the glasses right to see far, therefore I couldn't drive with them. They said they were going to fix them and get new ones in one week, they didn't. I called them and they said the glasses would be ready in ten days and that they would call me to let me know, they didn't. I called them after 2 weeks, they said the glasses were already there. Okay, I went to the store and they put the new lenses in, then I tried them on and they were worst than the previous ones. The lady said, try to look outside and get used to them, seriously??? I said, no, there is something wrong with them. Guess what, they had switched the left and right lenses! Unbelievable! If I didn't insist, they'd send me home with switched lenses in my glasses. And I could hear (while waiting) they were laughing about it when they realized the mistake! read more

I thought the eye exam was reasonably thorough, but the glasses the store made weren't set in correctly. I requested transition lenses, and I nave had major problems with trying to find a distance that I can read from comfortably. I don't intend to go back there. read more
