They are missing several…read morepieces of equipment that would make lifting safer (such as a hex bar) and seem to have little drive to acquire them when asked. There does not seem to be a culture of wiping down the equipment after use (which is maybe more on the patrons, but they could post signs, because gross). The "free" personal training session is basically a high-pressure timeshare presentation to buy more personal training sessions, but that's to be expected, I suppose. Tends to be less busy, which is nice, and the prices are very reasonable. Front desk staff are always friendly.

I decided to hit the gym again and I joined my local In-Shape Fitness center. I really don't get the negative vibes that are found in some of the reviews here. My experience, since joining in early June of 2026, has been life changing. On my first day, I was greeted by Edvard. He was warm-hearted, welcoming, full of positive energy, competent, and he made me feel right at home. He took his time to show me around the facility and was patient with me and my ignorance. The place is a hit. It has everything I need and more. A full-court basketball gym, multiple saunas, a jacuzzi, and plenty of space and sophisticated exercise equipment. Also, worth mentioning, it never gets overcrowded and the members are wonderful people. Thank you Edvard. In-Shape Fitness, their customers, and the Carmichael community are better with you around.

Current "member" here. I was required to sign up for a full-year membership in order for my…read moredaughter to participate in their 8-week swim season. I understood the commitment and chose to move forward because of the convenience of the location near my home. Unfortunately, my experience as a member has been disappointing from the start. Getting basic information has been exhausting -- phone calls go unanswered, emails don't go through, and when I finally reached someone, I was told the club is somehow "separate" from the swim team while also connected to it. Most of what I've learned has come from navigating the website myself or asking other swim team parents, who have honestly been more helpful than the staff. Communication overall has been poor. I constantly receive emails asking for donations and fundraising support for facility renovations, yet Imsomehow important weekly updates and member information emails don't come through. For the cost, the value also feels questionable. Membership dues are higher than many gym memberships, yet the amenities are limited to a pool, and tennis courts. On top of monthly dues, I was still required to pay separately for my daughter to attend a school field trip hosted at the club. The atmosphere also feels very exclusive and cliquish. Many of the board members appear to be friends, family, or married to one another. I was sold on the idea of joining a welcoming "community," but I have not felt welcomed at all. Whenever concerns are raised, the response is usually "I'm new" or "we have a new system," with very little effort made to actually address or resolve the issues. Overall, this has not been the positive community experience that was promised.
