Sanatan Golden and optimal results physical therapy of Portland have changed my life! My name is Marshall and I am a warehouse manager of a local furniture company. I strained my back moving a giant marble table top. At 37 years old I thought to myself "this is it my back has finally gone out and I will have back problems for the rest of my life." (Dramatic I know but it's what I thought at the time) I went to my primary care physician and he referred me to Sanatan Golden of Optimal Results who he himself had been to an absolutely loved. I'm 6 foot 5 inches, 240 pounds and considered myself in good general physical health but had little or no interest in exercising passed the physicalness of my job. Be grudgingly at first I went to Optimal Results and met Sanatan Golden. His warm, attentive and professional personality started to change my low opinion on exercise almost immediately. He assessed my back and my situation thoroughly and we started working to fix my back right away. I felt some relief from my back pain on the very first visit. He eased me into exercises that I had never heard of such as painting rainbows, press ups and my now favorite the plank! When I first planked I think I clocked in at a whopping 7 or 8 seconds in a row. Looking back I was surprised at my inability to plank. I'm tall, slender and strong but I was missing core strength and didn't even know it. A few weeks before physical therapy ended I was able to plank for around 2 minutes and 15 seconds with ease. Sanatan's personal attentiveness, attention to detail and motivational cheerfulness has me now healthier, stronger and more confident than I've ever been in my entire life. When Sanatan is with you he is really with you, I mean present. The human connection is alive and well in his eyes and I could feel it as he helped correct my form and keep my core in the proper position over the weeks and months that he worked with me. When I was first injured I was obviously upset and disappointed in myself and felt that this physical therapy was somehow a burden. I now look at this experience as a BLESSING 100%! If I hadn't strained my back and met and worked with Sanatan I would still be the person I was (relatively healthy and strong but lacking a core and some self confidence). I now feel that I am much more the person I was meant to be and the person I want to be. That being said I may never be the person that goes to the gym every week but I did order a home gym on my last appointment right there in his office. I am also planning to go to a bouldering gym with my wonderful girlfriend. So in short, Sanatan Golden and Optimal Results Physical Therapy changed my life for the better forever. Last year, I went to a soccer tournament in Canada and in one of the games I badly injured my right ankle. When I returned home my foot was swollen; I couldn't wear my shoes, and I couldn't put any wait on it. One of my friends suggested paying a visit to Optimal Results. At first I was skeptical and I went to see my doctor, who confirmed that I had no broken bones but acknowledged that my injury was serious, and said that it would take me 4-6 months to recover. Anyway, I went to Optimal Results and I was examined by Keith. Since I couldn't put any wait on my foot, Keith started my PT with the G-Trainer (please see the video on the Optimal Results' website for more info http://www.optimalresultspt.com/). Keith and the staff were extremely friendly and made me feel welcome; they were also flexible and worked out my visits around my tight work schedule not to mention that at the time they were moving into a new office. During my rehab sessions Keith made me work hard, but he was also very sensitive to my needs. Being in so much pain I was often cranky and impatient, but he dealt with me like a true professional, and I always felt happier when leaving his office. He also provided weekly updates to my Home Program and often followed up with an email or a phone call to make sure I was doing well with my home activities. Keith is an amazing therapist and worked miracles around my ankle. In less than three months I was playing soccer again, and most importantly, I never felt any pain in my ankle to this day. Dr. Sanatan Golden, PT, DPT, CSCS at Optimal Results Physical Therapy in downtown Portland, Oregon gave me excellent assistance in helping to heal a strained hip/knee/back injury due to a long term pelvic twist. I tried to do some circuit training but due to being out of alignment for many years, I strained my hip. My knee and lower back were affected too, and I could not walk without limping or sit without pain. Sanatan Golden was recommended to me by someone who had success regaining shoulder and back mobility due to physical therapy with Sanatan. I found Sanatan to be very intelligent at looking at the problems in depth. He got me going on a series of stretches which suit my ability and personality. When I succeeded in these, he re-evaluated and increased exercises to keep the healing going. I feel inspired by Sanatan to keep up with my stretching program, and can walk without a limp and do some hiking. His approach is suited to my lifestyle, and this is excellent help for the long-term pelvic twist. Now I'm working on building up my core, and find my balance, walking and sitting are improving in a big way. One of the best Physical Therapy experiences I have had over 5 years - and I have been treated for knee and hip issues by 6 therapists in 3 clinics. Not that the others were bad - but my goal was to have a stable joint, hopefully to reduce pain and to resume biking, hiking and my life! Keith at Optimal Results is a pretty exceptional therapist in my view. When you are seen by him he listens very well, takes detailed notes and creates a holistic mind/body prescription of exercises and activities to begin to achieve your treatment goals. The plan is a partnership in which the patient is encouraged and held accountable to do the prescribed activities. You work in the office each appointment and receive your new revised plan by hard copy when you leave or he will also send it by email. Keith is creative in developing your personal home program and has some unique pieces of equipment to use in the clinic that help to keep us improving. He is caring, fun and committed to his patients return to greater health and will go the extra mile to help the patients achieve their goals. The office is small, conveniently located downtown and everyone you meet in the clinic is personable, warm and friendly. (Even Frisbee, the sweet dog, who occasionally hangs out in the office.) Life changing. Since I was a young man, I had been working in crappy chairs, hunched over machines. I had regular back pain, and once or twice every year I would be seized up completely and be rendered immobile for days. I've tried acupuncture and a chiropractor, but didn't get the results I needed. I have even been working at a standing desk for the past year or two, and although it probably saved my back from getting worse, it wasn't enough to make it better. Keith showed me how limited my mobility was -- I hadn't known. After meeting once a week for about a month, he had helped me to correct my posture, and taught me the right exercises to strengthen my core and increase my mobility. My pain has gone away now. I even sleep better at night! As long as you keep with the exercises, and mention if you have problems, you will start to feel better and stronger. If I felt like I was doing something wrong, I let him know and he helped me out, even without a formal visit. Keith is also a pretty fun guy, easy to relax around. A good coach all around, with a good support crew. Also, located right by the food carts downtown, so you have your choice of wonderful food when you are done! Not feeling well? Go see Keith Glasser at Optimal Results. Whatever your affliction - major issues, little pains, meloncholia - I'm willing to bet that Keith is going to make you feel better. Pretty quickly. My issue has been a painful lower back that, as the years go on, has turned into painful hips and painful knees. Then there is the emotional cycle that goes with all that..feel bad=cut back on activity=feel worse and bummed out about it. I was headed downhill without poles. My doctor gave me a sketchy diagnosis and the option of steriod injections or a PT referral. The only reason I didn't take the steroids is my fear of really long needles - thank goodness, becasue meeting Keith, and sticking with the program he makes for me, is making a HUGE difference in my life. He respects your pain, he respects who you are (and how you might get in your own way when it comes to recovery). He is thoughtful and open, in addition to being a remarkable physical therapist. And no matter how crummy you feel heading into the office - and he get's that - you will be in less pain, and have more hope, when you leave. A few more months and I expect to be pain free. I met with Keith Glasser to rehabilitate a hip injury that has been painful for the last 2 years. Within 3 months Keith had me playing sports again pain free! He was extremely knowledgeable about all injuries and open to all the concerns that I had throughout the process. I've had many injuries and gone to many PT practices; however, Optimal Results Physical Therapy is the best I've gone to, in terms of patient care, and the overall friendliness displayed by the staff. Even from the first visit at Optimal Results Physical Therapy I could tell that they sincerely placed customer satisfaction and wellbeing above all else. They also have a rare 'Alter-G' treadmill which allows patients to increase walking (forwards and backwards) and running speeds at various bodyweight percentages (start at below 50% bodyweight, slowly progress to 100%). When I finished treatment with Keith I was stronger than I was pre-injury. I can not thank Keith enough for his results driven practice of Physical Therapy. About 6 months ago I received Physical Therapy and Acupuncture treatments from Optimal Results Physical Therapy for a Gastoc/calf tear. My activity and fun as a B level volleyball player was restored within 3 months post injury. The G Trainer provided a big jump in my early rehab and I know I could not have gained strength and confidence as quickly without it. Most of all I really appreciated the time Keith spent teaching me and my body how to heal safely and quickly. Keith was able to provide an environment that helped me to regain full confidence and abilities to play competitive volleyball, hike, run and train appropriately. I just finished up physical therapy with Keith at Optimal Results. I started treatment a little over a month ago to address some nerve irritation in my leg (have had two prior back surgeries years ago due to sciatica). On my first visit, Keith assessed my movements and knew right away what to get started on. He was patient and careful as I tried new exercises, ensuring none of them made the pain worse. You can immediately tell he is an experienced PT and knows what he is doing! Lots of knowledge and education on the spine and back. After a few weeks, the pain slowly went away and now I am completely pain free, with a great home program to continue using. If only I had seen him years ago I may not have had to have the surgeries I did - just needed to learn the proper exercises/movements to strengthen my back. I had been dealing with long-term pain in my feet from bunions. My podiatrist suggested surgery, but luckily another PT recommended Sanatan Golden at Optimal Results for his expertise with feet and his alternative, non-surgical approach to bunion pain. After working with Sanatan for only a few months, the pain was gone and I was able to return to all my favorite sports, including running. I am so glad I went to Sanatan instead of opting for surgery! Sanatan was wonderful to work with--he listens really well, is a patient and effective teacher, and he really cares about your progress towards better health. He is smart, positive and perceptive and as an athlete himself, he understands the frustrations of being injured or in pain. I came to Optimal Results P/T after a few months working with a Chiro, x rays, MRI and two meetings with Orthopaedic surgeons... Nothing was changing the pain and suffering with my lower back. Finally, with a referral from the Ortho, I met with Keith Glasser and his team at Optimal... Immediately I felt like I had hope again. He was confident in my ability to get back to good health quickly with simple stretching and light weight training. Fortunately he was correct. I have been in physical therapy for almost 30 years. This is the best physical therapy office I have ever been to. They have helped my back, neck and knee pain. I wish I had found them much sooner as I would have maybe not have had to have the surgeries that I have had. Keith and Dan are wonderful and so knowledgeable of the body and how it functions.
