I went to a few of the larger Optometrist in Ajijic only to be told they could not create the lenses I required. I believed a trip to Guadalajara may solve the problem, or a plane ride to California. I was visiting the butcher shop and saw Optica - a few doors down. I spoke to Christina, who speaks great English as my Spanish is very poor. I showed her my existing prescription and after a few calls she said yes, they can make these lenses and put them in new frames that I chose. I have to be honest, I was skeptical - this is a small shop, not fancy, however Christina is very upfront, honest and cares. I chose two frames, I wanted 1 pair for reading another for distance. Two weeks later I received an email from Christina saying they were ready - and she would drop them off at my house. Now I am shocked. The glasses are perfect, I got two pairs for well under what a single pair cost in LA and Christina dropped them off. Excellent customer service - excellent glasses - and a price that is reasonable. I also explained that I wanted one mildly tinted, and that I'd need my first eye exam since getting lasik 12 years ago. Leonard performed the exam free, and firstly before giving a quote. I took one more quote a few blocks away which was a little more expensive and would take 3 days. I only had 1 day, and Inova Optica delivered. I started by picking out two dozen frames for consideration. Okay, that's an exaggeration. It was three dozen. Narrowed it to a dozen and tried them all on again. And again.
