After going to the Sammlung Scharf-Gerstenberg (Collection Scharf-Gerstenberg), a Surrealist gallery nearby featuring Hugo, Picasso, Hellmer, Dali and more, I was directed here by museum staff who knew that this place existed. Not a ringing endorsement, but I was starving, so quickly jumped at the idea of getting lunch. The staff makes an effort to give guests an Italian experience - "Buongiorno!" they happily yell as soon as you walk in. Inside, this restaurant is decorated like an Italian trattoria. There are tables with checkboard cloths and memorabilia all around. Part of the dining room is decorated to look like it is situated at an outdoor alley near a two story Italian building, complete with shutters on the second story and (fake) laundry hung out to dry. Most members of the staff are English speakers; they even provided me with an English menu (though the German one isn't hard to read - it contains the names of the Italian dishes, which are familiar to me, as an American who has eaten a lot of Italian). For lunch, I ordered: - Minestrone : it was okay, but filled with carrots, potatoes and cauliflower. I saw a few tiny bits of tomatoes but was a little disappointed that there wasn't more. No beans i this minestrone, either. - Penne rossini : penne pasta in a cream sauce with fresh mushrooms and pork. The sauce good except for the fact that there was rosemary as one of the herbs included, which I thought really clashed and overpowered the other components of the dish. - Still water. The total came to €15 for this lunch. It's a convenient spot if you will go to the gallery or Schloss Charlottenburg. Though service was amicable and atmosphere was nice, the food was lacking: I gave it 3 stars because it felt a lot more like German food instead of authentic (or close to authentic) Italian cuisine. read more

Came here after a boat tour on the Spree River. Convenient location and nice terrace. Our meal was great and service as well.

During our lunch there, my niece was groped by the waiter. First, he insisted on ordering his favorite pizza for her, touching her hand. Then when she went to the bathroom on her own, he intercepted her and kissed her on the cheek without permission. He was waiting when she exited the bathroom, took her by the hand and tried to lead her away "for a picture." She firmly told him no. He followed her back to the table and announced for everyone to hear, "I'm sorry I like the blond girl." Our food arrived shortly after and my niece insisted she wanted us to stay and eat. Afterwards, we asked the host to speak to the manager, who told us he speaks no English. The offending waiter insisted on "translating." Posting this review to warn others as we have every confidence this is not an isolated incident and no confidence it will be corrected. NO WOMEN SHOULD COME HERE. read more

I went to this restaurant with a mixed group, and on our way out (after paying a decent tip) we overheard our waiter mocking Asian accents with nonsense words. It was extremely uncomfortable and embarassing. Don't take people you care about to this restaurant if you don't want their and your night ruined. read more

Yes, it's opposite Schloss Charlottenburg, you may think the tourists would flock the restaurant. Maybe they do at noon, weather permit. Yes, the service is typically slow. Yes, the prices are on the higher end of the spectrum (this is not a €3.50 per pizza diner). Parking can be (will be) a problem. Their tables at the back side of the restaurant are not the best. If you go as a group, you'll probably be seated to these tables. So why 4 stars? Not that I'm a fan, but for me this restaurant represents a safe place if I ever want to treat a guest with dinner outside. It has been so for the last five years. May they preserve their quality. read more

I came into this restaurant very excited and optimistic to have authentic Italian food, as soon as my family and I were seated, we were not taken seriously. 4/7 of us actually got to order for ourselves before the waiter basically told us what he would serve us. He wouldn't even let me order the food I wanted telling me he would make me "his favorite pizza". As I was looking at the menu he was messing with me, (made a pen mark on my hand, flicked my menu, and winked at me). I didn't take it seriously until I got up to use the restroom alone, and I walked into the restaurant approaching our waiter when he then asked me to take a selfie with him, he pulled out his phone and then groped me and kissed me on the cheek. I pulled myself away and ran down the stairs to the restroom. When I was finished using the restroom he was waiting for me at the top of the stairs. He grabbed my hand and tried directing me somewhere and I pulled my hand away exclaiming, "no what the heck" and walked back outside to the table where my family was sitting. Seconds later he brought drinks we ordered outside and said, "I'm sorry I like the blonde girl" I felt very uncomfortable and unhappy with my food! When my aunt and uncle talked to the manager the offending waiter insisted on translating to the manager about the incident, we were not taken seriously and given the impression this happens on a daily basis but the manager is only worried his waiter will be hit! Instead of how his customers feel!!! If you are a woman, do not come here alone!!!!! I felt very offended and violated when I left!!
