The theatre is small and classic with a little concessions area and nice bathrooms. It's a single-level theatre but the seats are angled well enough that no one's going to block your view of the stage. Really, any seat is a good seat. I attended the inaugural Virginia Cat Festival (day 1) here, with Jackson Galaxy as the keynote speaker. I enjoyed my visit all around and the venue was clearly clean and well-kept. I'd attend another event there in the future.

The ushers were really friendly and helpful in guiding us to our seats. I recommend looking up parking information before you go. We were a bit confused, and later discovered there were closer parking options available.

She also asked someone where our seats were and the first female usher just pointed ( we were outside of the house) and said" you'll go through that door and down and to the middle". Another nice female usher at the other door helped my friend. The performance was phenomenal and it was relatively easy to exit the property. I'd definitely go here again for another symphony or musical.

Our cultural life in the Hampton Roads community has been enriched by VSO for more than 80 years. I feel extremely blessed to personally know internationally renown Music Director JoAnn Falletta. (She lives in our 'hood!) Just returned home from opening night at Norfolk's Chrysler Hall of Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto, and it was superb! VSO annually performs in venues all over Hampton Roads, including genres such as Classical, Pops, and Jazz. In fact, just this week, VSO provided a small Jazz ensemble at the local Pagoda restaurant as one of their many Outreach concerts. VSO also provides orchestral support of the acclaimed Virginia Opera, Virginia Arts Festival, and Virginia Ballet. Last year, we enjoyed the Eroica Trio with VSO at the Sandler Center in Virginia Beach, another wonderful venue.

Both my partner and I are tall so leg room is definitely a plus. The show was phenomenal and I feel so lucky to get to experience the arts here in Richmond! I would definitely reccomend a show here just for the ambiance alone, the theater inside is stunning with so many things to look at. Definitely arrive the 30 minutes prior to showtime to take in all of the sights.

It wasn't hot outside the evening we were there, but it felt like the inside of a refrigerator. Wear long pants and a jacket, and bring gloves. Lastly, the staff needs to be told to keep their hands to themselves. I turned on my phone flashlight so I could find something I dropped on the floor, and a staff member ran over and tapped me on the knee and told me to limit my cell phone use. The light was on for maybe 10 seconds, and I hadn't been using it prior to then. Not smart to physically reprimand a guest!

I thought we were really running late and were going to l be rushing to get in before doors closed but we got in with 20 minutes to spare. Getting through security was a breeze. Allied Universal did a great job getting people through efficiently. I had a clear bag so they didn't even have to search through it. The staff was very friendly and helpful from the security at the door to the usher who helped us find our seat. We purchased our ticket on Ticketmaster and they were super easy to quickly pull up and scan using the Apple Wallet feature. The show was fantastic and Josh Johnson was hilarious. I do recommend that if you want to buy merch or have to use the bathroom you do so before the show ends because it's quite chaotic with everyone trying to leave at the same time. The location of the men's bathroom on the second floor goes against the flow of the crowd of you're on the first floor like we were. All in all though I highly recommend this venue and would not hesitate to see a show here again.

As for the seats and auditorium: They were comfortable and wider than many other venues. The sound for my performance was real good. Staff: Very very friendly. Most seemed older and seem to handle moving the 1000+ folks in and out very well. Concessions: got pretty busy but it did move along. Maybe 1 or 2 more persons behind the counter could have helped. As for food and drink: Typical snack bar fair and wasn't too bad priced. Not nearly as high as other places. Parking: Although not necessarily the Sandler's alone. Wasn't too bad. But we got to the center early and I'm glad we did. I think a visitor could be pressed with parking if a Friday or Saturday night when the local restaurants and bars were more full. My show was on a Tuesday. So overall a solid place to take in a show. I would have no problem visiting again.
