The quality of this orchestra is phenomenal. They are so dedicated and talented and come together as such a unique and special part of this community to provide people with the privilege of hearing them play. I love symphonies. I have seen the Philharmonic once in NY and loved it. My husband and I both play piano and appreciate classical music. This is something you can't pass up when you live in the area. Check out their website, find when they're playing and get over there because this is a really special piece of Hampton Roads.

Our cultural life in the Hampton Roads community has been enriched by VSO for more than 80 years. I feel extremely blessed to personally know internationally renown Music Director JoAnn Falletta. (She lives in our 'hood!) Just returned home from opening night at Norfolk's Chrysler Hall of Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto, and it was superb! VSO annually performs in venues all over Hampton Roads, including genres such as Classical, Pops, and Jazz. In fact, just this week, VSO provided a small Jazz ensemble at the local Pagoda restaurant as one of their many Outreach concerts. VSO also provides orchestral support of the acclaimed Virginia Opera, Virginia Arts Festival, and Virginia Ballet. Last year, we enjoyed the Eroica Trio with VSO at the Sandler Center in Virginia Beach, another wonderful venue.

Walking in we were greeted by the wonderful attendants and our seats were surprisingly spacious in regards to leg room (we sat center orchestra Row J). Both my partner and I are tall so leg room is definitely a plus. The show was phenomenal and I feel so lucky to get to experience the arts here in Richmond! I would definitely reccomend a show here just for the ambiance alone, the theater inside is stunning with so many things to look at. Definitely arrive the 30 minutes prior to showtime to take in all of the sights.

Why is it that I always feel like I'm taking a flight when I go to see a show. This is absolutely true here as well. I'm at 6'3" and my neighbor was about that wide. To say it was an uncomfortable seat was a crazy understatement. Oh well, taking a cue from a discount airline: pack them in. I wouldn't be cranky if it was just the seat. The Roman empire did better in logistics for shows. Trying to go to the bathroom was a joke and don't even think of getting a drink during intermission. This place is just not laid out for a full show logistics. GO for the Nutcracker. Anything else, might not be worth the squeeze.

I thought we were really running late and were going to l be rushing to get in before doors closed but we got in with 20 minutes to spare. Getting through security was a breeze. Allied Universal did a great job getting people through efficiently. I had a clear bag so they didn't even have to search through it. The staff was very friendly and helpful from the security at the door to the usher who helped us find our seat. We purchased our ticket on Ticketmaster and they were super easy to quickly pull up and scan using the Apple Wallet feature. The show was fantastic and Josh Johnson was hilarious. I do recommend that if you want to buy merch or have to use the bathroom you do so before the show ends because it's quite chaotic with everyone trying to leave at the same time. The location of the men's bathroom on the second floor goes against the flow of the crowd of you're on the first floor like we were. All in all though I highly recommend this venue and would not hesitate to see a show here again.

Community outreach is entertaining and educational. The professional quality is exceptional. This is first class-quality dance with informed, traditional training and practice with both traditional and contemporary application. It is a joy to watch and frequently involves the audience during community engagement. Annual productions are beautifully conceived and produced and unique in the area. This is local production, but it is the highest level of professionalism and production value. Education through the Latin Ballet is highly skilled with professional dancers and advanced students who are members of the professional company. Classes are taught in both English and Spanish, and both languages are spoken in the halls during and between classes. Students and families are diverse in culture and background, and the sense of community at Latin Ballet of Virginia is the warmest, most caring environment anyone can imagine. The whole organization breathed creativity and nurturing. One only has to do a search for Ana Ines King, the organization's founder and director, to see the elevation of the art form and direction of the Latin Ballet of Virginia. The highly-decorated Director is an expert in her field and first-rate performer, as well as an extremely down to earth and involved in the organization's operations, outreach, and educational programs. Classes are available in multiple formats (Ballet, Salsa, Flamenco, Hip Hop, Jazz) for all ages, including adults. Classical ballet is the Latin format (rather than Russian or French formats most commonly found in Central Virginia), and classes are instructed in both Spanish and English. As a homeschooling family, we appreciate the physical, cultural, and language benefits in the instruction of the courses. I cannot recommend the school of the Latin Ballet of Virginia for immersive instruction. My child loves the classes, the instructors, and the community at the Latin Ballet of Virginia. I've taken a course as an adult and also enjoyed it and learned a lot about the art forms in addition to practical application. Whether enjoying the company's performances or learning through the Latin Ballet of Virginia's school, you will be exposed to the very best of this art form and its cultural and historical importance.
