We have been here a few times and came Tuesday night for the Jon Pardi concert. There were 8 in our group and we sat in the third row of the Mezzanine level. This is a great venue for concerts with fantastic acoustics. Its capacity is around 1,000, so it feels intimate and not a bad seat in the house. This is a very cool historic building in downtown Lexington. They have some neat memorabilia throughout the building. I suggest checking it out for a concert or play. read more

I love the Lexington. Opera House shows, they feel so much more intimate than reparation. There really isn't a bad seat in the house. I've been twice this past year to see Ross Mathews and Fortune Feemster comedy shows and I can't wait to see some Broadway shows in the upcoming season. My only complaint is that it's very difficult to know the real ticket options. When I got to Ross Matthews, I saw people with VIP tickets that got to meet the artist after the show but none of that was explained on Ticketmaster. read more

Great concert venue! This is an old historic opera house that was once quite opulent. Today it looks like a nicely aged theater. Everything is "no cash". Getting into the venue was simply scanning ticket from phone. Beers purchased using Apple Pay. So modern for such an old place! We had front row tickets for John Hiatt concert. Plenty of leg room on front row, but seems that's not the case everywhere else. A great concert! read more

The building is what it sounds like, and offers a tiered, upscale performance venue in a very downtown location. There are places nearby that charge for parking, but Lexington's meters are unlikely to require payment at the hours of a performance, and there is a variety of street parking within a couple of blocks (moreso north and east). The building was in good condition, and is modest enough in size that it wasn't wildly difficult to get in or out. The size also means the price per seat is higher, but I enjoyed my show. A smaller quaint venue that doesn't have a bad seat in the house. We literally were in the last row at the top of the theater and loved our seats for Kinky Boots last year. Looking forward to more performances this year. Nice areas to hang out in prior to the performance. They brought in a local bakery for goodies and had drinks on the mezzanine of the second level before the performance we attended. read more

Watched Don Giovanni yesterday and today, great show, nice that Lexington has this theater. However the security system and rules make the place very unfriendly. Entering an opera house like you are at the airport, not even a water bottle allowed with you, God forbid to have even slightly bigger then wallet size purse. And the best was, then at the second show I could finish it, because I had to step out during intermission, and they did not let me back. I mean, why?? I love this venue! It is an amazing mix of old and new it opened in 1887, but has been updated to hold today's shows! I have seen stage productions and concerts here many times. I've sat everywhere from box sets to the balcony and I have always had a good experience. Reasonably priced parking is available near by, you have many great dining options within walking distance (check Yelp), and recently the city has launched a program to keep the panhandlers at bay. (This is something I wish was happening in other cities!) I was there recently to see Travis Tritt do his "unplugged" show. The sound was good and the staff was helpful. This venue a gem in Lexington. read more

Great ambiance and history to the place. Came here to see Isaac Humphries perform Songs of my Life. Amazing acoustics and lighting to enhance the show. Drinks and snacks were also available, which was a nice touch. I felt that the security getting in was a little over the top with an armed police officer there and people scanning tickets like it was an airport. Also, as a taller person myself, the seating in the Mezzanine section was very close and uncomfortable. read more

The Lexington Opera House is a very stunning, smaller venue for some of the best shows and concerts that visit our great city. It is a more intimate setting that makes the event seem more personable. It is located on the corner of Broadway and Short. There is a parking structure across the street or there are a few street parking slots randomly around. I have saw a couple of concerts here over the years. The acoustics in this place are unreal. The lighting is spot on. The seating is pretty tight. So hope you don't mind sitting on top of strangers or very close to say the least. On this last occasion I saw Ben Folds here and it was amazing. The piano and his voice just filled the room so well. Perfection. If you get a chance to see a play or show here, I suggest to do you. You will thank me. read more

What an absolutely gorgeous venue! I saw a concert here and all of the concessions and other work was carried out by volunteers. Everyone was kind and helpful. We were able to do some exploring before the show and had a great time visiting the ballroom and viewing all the old playbills. The opera house is within walking distance of some really great restaurants, as well. I don't spend much time in Lexington but I really enjoyed my visit! My only complaint is that because of the age of the building, seating is a bit cramped. Some seats are also located somewhat awkwardly, behind and around large pillars. read more

Built in 1886, the Opera House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its historical and architectural significance. It is a beautifully restored theatre of only 900 seats which can be relatively tight in space. Lexington is fortunate that the OH was saved and is still in use today. One of my favorites there is the Black Jacket series. Annually in May, there is a free preview evening of the coming season of Broadway Live with musical numbers from those shows. This is a beautiful venue. I'm used to the grandeur of the Detroit Opera House, but here was something especially charming about this smaller, slightly more casual setting. Perhaps because we were seeing "The Nutcracker" and it felt more like a family place? We had nosebleed seats (because we came on a whim) but even they were great - only a little bit of stage right was obstructed. And the price was very reasonable for a show with professional dancers. Bottom line, this is a great place for an afternoon or evening out. I'd come back again in a heartbeat! read more

Good seats, great show. But but don't go too early trying to beat a rush on parking. The opera does not let you in until near curtain.

A couple friends and I saw Les Miserables here a while back. It was a great show, but this review is more concerned with the building/staff. Getting tickets was easy, and the student discount were great. The box office staff were friendly. The seats we had were a little nose-bleed, but the acoustics were fine even up in the balcony. The usher staff there were friendly, and they helped us find our seats, like you'd expect. The beauty of the main room was noticeable. It's amazing to see such a gem in Lexington. The ornate room was wide open, and you could easily see the whole stage. When you go, take a moment to look at the interior! I definitely want to see another show here, before I graduate. This place has beautiful architecture and is a great venue for concerts. I've seen a few here over the years. I've never seen a play here, but I'm sure it's just as great. There are three levels from seating. Prior to last night I had always sat in level 1. I feel like if I'm going to fork over some of the high ticket prices I want to be able to see the people I'm paying for. I admit it, I can be a ticket snob in that way. I'd rather not go than fork over the money and have bad seats. I didn't do that with the Travis Tritt acoustic show though. I always thought there was "not a bad seat in the house" as well, but I found it. Level 3 row B seat 121 and 123 have an obstructed view due to the railing that goes up about 2 ft at the end of the stairs. I'm sure it's to keep people from flying down the stairs and flipping over the balcony. Even my husband who is 6'3" had to "fight" the rail to see the artist. Even though the seats weren't the best, it was still a great show and didn't deserve to be knocked down on star rating. I think there is just a handful of those type seats that are that way so I will know in the future not to get those. They do serve alcohol at the concerts as well. Oh and one more thing on the seating up in the level 3, the seats are smaller and closer together than on level 1 and not as much knee space. read more

I went to see Kinky Boots over the weekend. It was great. The only complaint I had is that it was pretty warm in the show. Also the drinks were pretty pricey. A small water was $3. I wasn't about to get a glass of wine. They had Kinky Boots pastries but I wasn't going to attempt that either. If it wasn't so warm during the show, I think I would have enjoyed it more. read more

The staff is pleasant at best. Venue is beautiful but has been an almost unbearable temperature every time I've been in attendance. There is a no picture/video policy that they enforce with a hammer. My husband and I travel to concerts all around the country and this is the only venue I've been to that is this strict, or has the policy at all. They seem to have trouble filling seats, sad to see 20 or so seats open in the first 4 rows each time. One concert I attended had entire sections open in the front while the back was totally sold out. Perhaps they should allow the free advertisement that comes along with people taking photos of performers and posting them on social media. read more

Attended Rain: A tribute to the Beatles on a Sunday afternoon while UK was playing a BB road game. Reminds me of the smaller quaint venues - Sunset Center in Carmel CA - the mixed aged audience of baby boomers, flower children and grand kids and some 70s dressed down in jeans. Wonderful two hours of "Beatlemania" pictures, lights and music. Very nostalgic. Early songs included "I Want To Hold Your Hand," "Please Please Me," "Yesterday," "Let It Be" and many more. I grew up attending and performing in shows at the Lexington Opera House. It has always been one of my very favorite spaces, and I was delighted to find that they rent the building for weddings! Working with the staff was incredible-they met with me multiple times to show me around and understand the vision that I had for the event. They were always prompt to respond to emails, got me set up with lighting for the event, and helped design lay-outs for different ways to set up tables on the stage. The day of the wedding, everything was exactly perfect. Everyone arrived on time and I was very pleased with the set-up and the lighting. They really helped make it a perfect day! read more

Grand architecture inside and out. It's so much fun to get dressed up to see a show in such a lovely theater! My friends and I saw 42nd St on Saturday night and greatly enjoyed the experience. The theater is small, and I recommend getting seats on the lower level. The view is better on the lower level and the seats are a little bit bigger with more leg room. Beverages (including alcoholic) and candy are sold in the concession stand before the show and during intermission. Sometimes desserts from the Sweet Spot are also sold. If you would like a place to sit and enjoy your drinks before the show, go upstairs where a few tables are set up. read more

I took my daughter to see Mama Mia and we had a great time!! Our seats were on the second floor and we had the last row and i thought they were great! I don't think there is a bad seat in the house! we could hear everything happening no problem and see with no obstructions!! The lines for the concession were never long, they keep you moving! There was a business set up with sweets and treats which was nice if you wanted a little something. Defiantly will go back for future shows! read more
