When I visited there were about 25 - 30 stalls - selling food to go (pizza, sausages etc), cakes and doughnuts, cheese, arts and crafts, clothes (espeically plaid shirts and scarves) and jewellery. If you live even remotely nearby it's a no-brainer to check this out because we don't actually have many weekly markets like this in Greater Manchester. You might not want to trek from the other side of Manchester though, as it's fairly small unless they have special events on.

It takes a lot to get me out of bed early on a Saturday morning, but with my wife saying for months…read morethat she wanted to check out the ever expanding 'Levy' market and my other biggest driver in life, hunger, coming together, I couldn't resist the allure of going along to see what the fuss was all about. Levy market has around 50 stalls with around half being craft, vintage and record stalls with the rest made up of super tasty foodie huts - served up by the royalty and crème de la crème of the Manchester street food scene. Local favourites Trove are there selling their always quick to sell out loaves, while Robinsons the bakers keeps the floury items flowing from the other side of the market (don't miss out on their Danishes which are literally the size of a gorillas hand but I'm sure a lot more tasty!!) Little corn pockets of magic is how I'd describe them - stuffed to the brim with beef, chicken and guacamole and some specially imported Colombian sauces. Don't even think about going to Levy market and missing out on these!

Yet another shop in Levenshulme that is painted bright yellow! I just don't get it. Well I do…read morereally. It is quite eye-catching. But it's also very yellow! Pound Choice Plus is yet another one of those mega cheap shops that sells random tat. Half of which is mega useful and cheap. The other half of which is totally pointless but also cheap. This shop has all of the important useful stuff, like piles of cheap loo roll, washing powder, cosmetics and tools. The shop is light and airy too, which is a welcome change to other dingy pound stores. What I always love about these places is that there are some hidden gems to be found that almost make you laugh out loud. My personal favourite in Pound Choice Plus is the "Elegant Drinking Glass Chess Set." Which now I think about it could actually become an amazing drinking game. Hold on, I think I'm going to back and buy the thing.

This shop is a fun, inventive way of subverting consumer culture. (cheap prices too!) Hannah (the…read morelady who runs it) recycles things found in the bins left by students and cleans them up. (I'm always shocked by what people throw away!) I came in for school supplies and left with kitchen bowls, a bookcase, a vase, art books, glasses, and a smile on my face. Such good energy in there. :)
