    hair in my burrito.
    Diana C.

I found a hair in my burrito. They don't wear hairnets so I figured it could happen and was going to eat around it. When I pulled on it I noticed a lot more hair was coming out so I started to record when I found out it was completely cooked in the burrito. I went back to tell them I just wanted a refund on the burrito, but they said no because I ate part of the other half of the burrito. They instead offered to make another, but at this point I wasn't hungry anymore and I was annoyed that they were implying that I did it myself. I told them that they could clearly see if was inside the burrito, and there was no way for me to do that and they waved me off and finally gave me a refund.

    Conch Sandwich

Kudos to the owners for starting a business in a pandemic. The conch sandwich took awhile to make (I am an impatient New Yorker), but it was well worth the wait. Fresh ingredients. Hot fries. Hit the spot after a bike down there.

    Beef Tacos

Menu is on the more expensive side and the portions are kind of small which is a con but I think the perfect location is a factor in the price. I got the steak/beef tacos and they were great! I also got the Miami Vice as a drink which was ok. Right on the beach and had games with lots of places to sit. Super cute!

These guys that run this are amazing and adding a ton to Crandon. I can't wait to see how they thrive over the next 10 years.

Upon arrival, I was immediately captivated by the breathtaking views of Miami's native plants along the beach, which provided a serene and picturesque backdrop for my meal. The restaurant itself is spacious, with plenty of seating options that allow guests to fully enjoy the natural beauty surrounding them. I wasn't too hungry, so I ordered the Fish Croquetas, which were priced at $12. These croquetas were incredibly delicious and fresh, showcasing the high quality of ingredients used by the cafe. The fish was perfectly seasoned and cooked, with a crispy exterior that gave way to a tender and flavorful interior. Each bite was a delightful combination of textures and tastes, making it a standout appetizer on the menu. To complement my meal, I chose a media colada, which proved to be the perfect kick of energy. The drink was expertly crafted, with a refreshing blend of flavors that enhanced the overall dining experience. It was the ideal accompaniment to the savory croquetas, providing a balance of sweetness and tanginess that was both satisfying and invigorating. Despite the restaurant not being full, with only four tables occupied and six employees on duty, there was a wait for your food. This unexpected delay was somewhat surprising given the available seating and staff, but it did not detract from the overall enjoyment of my visit. The staff was attentive and friendly, ensuring that all guests felt welcome and well taken care of. In conclusion, the Lighthouse Cafe at Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to enjoy a delicious meal in a beautiful setting. With its fresh and flavorful dishes, stunning views, and welcoming atmosphere, it offers a memorable dining experience that is sure to impress. Entry to the park was $8. Lots of parking available.

In a word everything. The decor is not awful itself, but feels a little industrial, with televisions plunked over the walls. But the service and the food just take it to a different level of bad. Our waitress hadn't the faintest clue to what she was doing. She asked how well done we wanted our carpaccio. She so clearly didn't know what she was doing, I had her recite our orders back to me. How could she mess that up? Good question. How about serving all of the food at one time, appetizers and main course? We had carpaccio, supposedly Argentine beef; a pancho; a filet mignon; and Milanezza Martin. Starting with the semi edible, the fillet was not good, the presentation was awful, stock dry on its own on a black plate, with mashed potatoes in a separate ramekin on the side, and the sad chimichurri sauce also in a separate ramekin, but you could swallow it. Everything else was a disgrace. The milanezza was junk they got out of the fridge and microwave before they planted it on the table. My daughter found it literally non-edible, and she is the kindest of diners. She said it tasted like the fridge... A kind way of putting it The pancho was a profoundly bland hot dog in a stale bun. But the "carpaccio" took pride of place. Simultaneously part-frozen and decaying beef, of which my daughter took a bite, and then was stuck finding a polite way to spit it into a napkin. North of inedible. All of this terrible food was put onto our table at one time, about three minutes after we ordered it, because obviously it had just been defrosted in the microwave. And to add insult to injury, the waitress came by, with a toothy, TGIF smile, and said how are we doing? Bloody awful is the only answer. In a move that clearly reflects where the restaurant is at, I noticed they put 19% automatically on the bill for "service". Then they had the cojones to ask for more of a tip when you sign electronically on the tableside device. I looked at the waitress incredulously with raised eyebrows, and that was that. Never again.

With that said, I will never return. There is no strategy when it comes to welcoming and servicing clients. No one to sit you when you arrive. Tables were left filled with other's trash. Clients often picking it up themselves to be able to sit. When I finally got a table, I had to wait 30mins for it to be cleaned. I waited another 20 mins to be helped after waiving down the overworked waitress (who was really nice). Ordered an overpriced charcuterie board from their VERY limited menu and two Pinot noirs. I asked for the manager to discuss the trash and lack of service --- manager never came. After 30 more mins we got our charcuterie board, no waters, no utensils, no wine. Finished the food, wine got there 10 mins later, it was oxidized and undrinkable. I asked to talk to the manager again. Waited. Nothing. I approached the security guard to ask for the manager, he was very nice and apologetic, I believe Fabian was his name. He said the manager was busy and could not talk. Very disappointing experience. I will never return. The hope is that ownership sees this and changes management. Poor management turned into poor staffing, which turned into disappointed customers. We were not the only ones. If you decide to visit, I say...... BYOB and enjoy the views. They are so incredibly understaffed, it's not worth the frustration to try and get service. Food quality was poor.

We are passionate about following expert award winning chefs so are critical of service, presentation and quality of food. And we travel around the world experiencing flavors of the world. Our recent experience at Novecento was spot on! Checking off all the boxes (as Paul Hollywood would say on the British Bake off ). We took advantage of the '34th anniversary lunch / dinner menu". A great 3 course meal at almost half the price and to top it off the '50% off Tuesday' special on the fabulous wine selections. My burrata and my husband's Ceviche = fabulous and generous. All 3 of us ordered NY Steak, again spot on - cooked as ordered, and a generous portion, and flavorful. I rarely order mashed potatoes and not only did I eat mine I had to help my aunt with hers too! The deserts- also something I generally skip - I couldn't resist; excellent Flan, outstanding Crepes with Dulce de Leche with spectacular vanilla ice cream. And the Wine!!! Absolutely amazing. Thank God my husband is quite a connoisseur of wines. It was fabulous to the last drop. Luis Perez was our waiter and he was truly focused on our any everyone's needs.
