Hi, We're Open Space.
We are glad you're here. If you've come this far, you are choosing to take care of yourself and work toward a healthier life. That is a brave and important decision, and we're here to help.
Here's why our clients love working with us (and why we love working with them!):
Queer-knowledgeable: All of our therapists are a part of the queer community or queer allied with a variety of intersectional identities, so you don't have to explain your gender identity, sexuality, or relationship style to us. No need to waste your time educating your therapist!
Strength-based: You've made it this far because you are smart, empathic, creative, and strong. We will use your strengths to build new tools and strategies. The path to empowerment starts with everything that makes you who you are.
Therapy curated for you: The therapeutic process is an intimate and significant personal endeavor. As a creative and queer person, you think differently than people around you. Our therapy work together will fit who you are and how you see the world. We consider it an honor to work closely alongside you as you journey down a healing path and achieve your goals.
History
Established in 2022.
While our founder has been a practicing therapist for 10 years, it became clear through the pandemic that our Queer community needed more support, resources, and connection. Hence, Open Space was born. At Open Space, we recognize the connection between historic systems of oppression and mental health. We are committed to fostering an anti-oppressive, anti-racist environment that centers the safety and healing of marginalized groups. Our community also includes allies and we welcome anyone who supports our collective vision.
Meet the Business Owner: Renae J.
Hi, I'm Renae.
Like most other things in life, therapy came into my life as a total accident. I was in graduate school in New York, studying painting and working on an MFA. All my art work focused on what I cared about most, people. To fulfill some elective credits, I took a course in the art therapy department. It was one of those few moments when it felt like two parts of myself were able to click together. It felt utterly authentic and one of those moments where I knew there was a space in the world for me.
After years of running nonprofits and supporting the career growth of junior therapists, I am working in therapy practice and supporting the mental health and growth of queer, trans, artists, and other therapists. I love it. I am excited to have launched the Open Space Collective and I look forward to seeing it grow as a hub for our community.
