Proof of receipt. Disappointed in this business.

BEWARE. SMDH its been years since I wrote my first review on this location, and the issues I experienced with the staff members charging items twice to my final grocery bill. See what they do there is hope you don't ask for a receipt. Now at first I thought it was a mistake on certain staff member parts simply because being charged unfairly didn't occur with every employee I encountered. Since my first two encounters of being charged unfairly, of course I made it my business to ask for a receipt. This was my issue with the store years ago. Example: Lets just say they charge every person for an extra item on their bill. Their profits turn out higher. Now lets fast forward to today's encounter with the store clerk that is servicing their location now. Sorry but not sorry, clearly she's incompetent. I was the only person in the store and each item was rung up separately and in a timely fashion. Its not like she had to rush to get her line down, so how the error occurred is beyond me. After the transaction I asked for the receipt and left the store to continue my errands. I didn't get far after I realized her error and went back for a refund. BE VERY CAREFUL when visiting this location. I don't have to go to this location at all, its just convenient and located right next to 1 other local store I shop at frequently. Cheating customers by ringing someone up for extra items on their bill is something this location has been doing since they've opened. Now when I wrote my 1rst review on the same subject years ago, the manager could have replied and tried to rectify the issue. Instead I got some dumb a** college student who wanted to reply on the matter as if it was their business. Next step a complaint to the Attorney's general office- Consumer Business complaint. I'm fed up to know that after all this time, this location is still doing the same thing. 1 of thing, I can add very well, which is why the 1st review years ago was written. SMDH

Don't come here if you're claustrophobic! My brother and I stumbled upon this place while a couple doors down at the Thai place. They have wine(some chilled), many different brews, produce, vegan snacks, spices, etc snuggled tightly into this small store front. We ended up buying a cute little French rosé for $9 that turned out to be yummy! I appreciate that they add in the tax for you on the handwritten signs so you know exactly what you're paying for your bottle :) I'll be back because I'm sure that if I spun around too fast I missed a gem hiding in a corner. ;)

Best Little Grocery Store in Hyde Park, maybe even Chicago. We're lucky to have a shop like this in the neighborhood.

Great little produce store on 55th with the coolest staff ever. My recent favorite finds: raw sugar cane, tubed pesto and canned kimchi :)

A solid small business with more heart than Hyde Park Produce and Treasure Island combined.

Wow this Farmers Market is truly a market, mushrooms, collards, pastries, fruit and many flowers…read more Street parking was not a hassle on Saturday morning. The crowd was manageable and we didn't experience no buffoonery. I'm going back because I had a greedy spirit and finished my treats from Pleasant House Pub and Royal pies. Shepherd pie Peach hand pie Spinach & cheese pie GONE is it Saturday yet?

I'm sorry, I really wanted to like this market. Don;t get me wrong, the vendors were great and we…read morebought more than we should have, honestly. But there are some significant issues. From outside in, the parking sucks. All very narrow street parking. Good luck. Then just finding the market is a challenge. An almost unmarked door just down from a coffee shop. What is this, some kind of speakeasy? Once you're in you're looking at two rooms of about 8 vendors per room. Kinda weak. And only maybe 2 of them were actual "farmers". The others had juices or baked goods or breakfast burritos or whatever. Not bad, just not exactly farmers market items en mas. The venue is...weird. It's like an artist coop or something. Really poorly suited to the market. The first thing I noticed was the smoke from cooking (burned?) breakfast foods hanging in the air. Less than ideal. The prices are stupid. Like stupid high. Sure, you expect that from "artisanal", "organic", "small batch", etc stuff. But this was over the top. $8 for a loaf of bread less than 1/3 of a loaf at any other bakery is stupid. The vendors are great, the quality is great. The space, both inside and out sucks, and the prices border on criminal. I suggest you look around for other venues if you are on a budget.
