Tom's Farm Market is the go to destination for so many reasons. It's owner is as down to earth as…read moreit gets. Gardening supplies and plants. Flowers. Fruit. World's best musk melons. I mourn when they go out of season. Celebrate when they return in summertime. Same for the best sweet corn in the midwest. Burn wood? Got it Mulch. You get it right? But wait. Tom's Grill makes excellent sandwiches. Bread's pies cookies donuts Salsa Guacamole Salad dressing.

I wanted some strawberries (as did my strawberry fanatic of a toddler--a girl after my own heart)…read more So we packed up and headed to Tom's to get some. No interest in U-Pick, thank you, though they do this throughout the season (check their instagram for info on when they are allowing U-Pick). It was a fine place but I'm not sure if I would make the trip again. It was an hour drive and we got our strawberries, walked around a bit, and left; all told we were there for maybe 20 minutes or so and I don't think it was worth the drive. I'll probably pick up from a farmer's market instead, unless I'm nearby. They have more than just the produce here, as there's a little gift shop area on the one side of the building that has gift items, children's toys and clothes, and more. They also have a counter where you can order food, and a nice outdoor area to eat at. I will say that what I REALLY appreciated was that it wasn't a farm carnival, as some of them are now with rides and lines and parking that's blocks away. This is a more straightforward farm stand, which is what I wanted.
