A few weeks ago we reached out to Mia about building a website for our business. Our meeting was…read morescheduled for today. It did not go well. Mia emailed us today about the meeting to say, "It will be either me or my associate Sukhi who works closely on all projects with me." We thought it a little odd that our meeting (which was scheduled with Mia) was taking place in four hours and Mia didn't know who would be meeting with us. We arrived at the meeting and discovered we were meeting with Sukhi, who turned out to be her sister as well as her associate. Sukhi did not order food or drink, but sat down like a deer in headlights and stared at us blankly. We introduced ourselves and gave her our business card. She didn't have any business cards; she said she left them at home. After a little more awkwardness we asked if she had anything to show us. She said, "I don't know. Does this place have wifi?" Mia picked the location, but her associate didn't know if they had wifi. What was she planning on showing us? Apparently nothing. At the very least we expected to see a few websites they designed alongside price quotes for a similar site. Sukhi fumbled around on her computer looking for a website to show us. She mumbled so quietly that though we were the only customers in the place, we could barely hear her. When we asked her questions about ways to integrate payment and scheduling it became obvious that we were more familiar with wordpress and technology in general than she was. Sukhi was completely clueless. They are building simple websites with wordpress and charging a fee to manage them. It's hard to imagine that business model lasting with available tools like square space and a new generation of entrepreneur's that grew up with the internet. What their fee is we don't know because we never saw any prices or literature. Sukhi arrived without any clue what to do. There was no sales pitch or anything. We felt embarrassed it was so awful. We politely told her that we felt they wasted our time and blew us off. She apologized and said her sister had asked her to do the meeting an hour ago. Sukhi said she didn't want to do the meeting and asked Mia to do the meeting, but her sister wouldn't do it. She made it sound like her sister didn't have anything important to do, but blew us off without a good reason. Apparently neither of them wanted to meet with us. Perhaps working with Mia is great, but we will never know because she blew us off and sent her ill prepared sister instead. There were no apologies or excuses about an emergency. They wasted our time.
