We went here on our trip a couple years ago and we loved it. My family friends are from Wrexham so…read morethe night we arrived, after they had gotten us some fish and chips, we went out here for some drinks. Since it was our first time in the UK it was a great start to our trip. The outside of the building is exactly what an American hopes to visit in the UK. It is in an old building with a thatched roof and it looks like it has been there for an eternity. The drink selection was great and by drinks I of course mean beer and cider because what else would you get from a pub? We sat in the back corner and were able to have a good time before we were on to the next pub. A couple days later before we went on a drive through the Welsh countryside we stopped in here to get some breakfast. We got a traditional English breakfast and for those that have not been luck enough to try it, it is amazing. It is more food than you could possibly eat for only a couple pounds. Hash browns, bakes beans, toast, eggs, sausage, tomatoes, mushrooms, etc.. Since we were with our local friends the owner came and spoke with us. He was very nice and we loved it there. We will be returning during our next trip to Wales.

It is highly distinctive as the only surviving thatched-roof property in Wrexham. When we walked by it, we had to stop in! Happily it looks like it hasn't changed much over the years. Apparently it is the combination of 3 cottages that have been combined over the years. It was definitely the most authentic pub we've been in so far and Rachel, the barkeep, was fun and friendly. Cheers!

Well with that out of the way, after a day walking around the town, visiting the Turf and looking in at the Stadium...I wanted to get a nice pub dinner. I was looking for some other place that turned out the be closed, and then rounded a corner and saw the Nags Head. Earlier in the day I tried to get a Guiness at The Turf, but they had run out, probably because they had a game the night before and the taps were drained. The Nags Head had my dark gold in a glass. They also had a wonderful Chicken pie with peas and roast potatoes. Just a perfect pub dinner. The place seemed to be filled with happy locals, probably a bunch who were tired of seeing american tourists like me taking up space in their favorite pub. It's ok guys, I'm home now so you can get your seat back. The Nags head was a wonderful pub in a nice Wales town that is having a moment in the limelight....enjoy it folks, it probably won't last.
