I am torn what to give this shop...1 star, for customer service, or 4 stars for content…read more This shop made the top 100 quilt shops in a magazine. This aligns Homestead Hearth with Harpers in Overland Park, Kansas. The thing that doesn't align this shop whatsoever, with any other quilt shop I've visited, is the fact that the employees are kind of, snippy. I've dropped a kind of good yarn shop down several stars for snippy employees. I found one nice employee. The rest, not so nice. When people travel to your shop from other towns, cause you have a known well known shop, don't look up and say, "yes," then look down. Are you not proud of your shop? There's thousands of quilt shops in the country, and you are one of the top 100. As for content.....mostly home spun type fabrics, country fabrics, nothing bright, nothing spiffy, but beautiful quilts sewn perfectly. Gorgeous samples. The store winds in and around....but no pictures are allowed anywhere. None. I'd not take one of their quilts, I understand the copyright, but when you are from out of town, and planning to possibly buy something to create a finished product, the finished product is hanging on the wall, usually you are allowed to photograph. Trust me, after I experienced one, then 2, then 5 snippy raggy employees, why would I bother? Top 100 quilt shops? Make this one number 100 and skip it.

Their ideas and designs are inventive, new and bright. This is by far, one of my favorite store for quilting that I've seen anywhere. I had to stop myself from buying the beautiful floral butter flies panels there. No,I don't need every single panel, but these panels were the most artistic and beautifully designed I've ever seen. They have the city scape material, google it on their site if you're curious. I added a photo of the finished wallhanging. They have classes that are ongoing where you learn to make what they sell. The ladies are helpful and very sweet. They allow for pictures to be taken and have plenty of quilts and other designs to make. They have vests, jackets and table runners, and anything you can think of on display. It's a bright shop and innovative style. They also sell sewing machines and repair them. Already I have a list of classes I want to take in the following year. And ofcourse, a list of panels to purchase. Go check out Appletree Quilting Center, you'll be quite pleased and amazed.

My group went here for our annual retreat and it was great! They do not provide food but we each…read moresigned up for a meal and that was no problem. There is a fully equipped kitchen so you don't really need paper plates. The rooms are very nice and although they are upstairs, there is an elevator! The retreat center adjoins the delightful shop so anything you forgot can be picked up easily. Ironing boards and irons are provided as well as cutting surfaces on bar height tables. There is also a local woman who spends the night to help with any problems. I just can't say enough about how nice it was and I'm looking forward to next year!!!

We have found some wonderful fabrics at Anatols' for both the kichen and dining room chairs…read more We first found Lazarof Upholstery Solutions, in Ballwin / Chesterfield, and he recommended we visit Anatols, as they have a fantastically large showroom of so many fabrics. Anatol's is located off Hanley, just a couple minutes south of 40/64, so it's a quick drive from most any part of town... and it's very worth the drive. Depending on your mindset when you arrive, prepare to possibly be overwhelmed by the number of fabric options they present. Beyond indoors/outdoors, they have most anything your can imagine... and you just need to work together with your better half to get to some final options and then pick your final selection.
