Panic-stricken, I called the phone number printed on a sticker on the water heater, which was leaking profusely. Kay, being able to afford to miss a day of work, stayed home. Someone answered my call immediately and a South Hills Electric employee arrived shortly after I left. I came home to find a state-of-the-art, factory-fresh, forty-gallon digital water heater (complete with an expansion tank, reworked copper pipe, and a ten-year warranty) in my basement. Recently (2026), we had an electrical surge that destroyed about $3000 in various household electrical equipment. We found out that South Hills Electrical installed a recalled and dangerous UL de-listed surge device (SYCOM) and the mfr. company is no longer in business since the device was installed (2016). Owner Pat Cray refuses to accept any knowledge of this device being re-called or de-listed (says it is not his responsibility). He refuses any financial responsibility for our losses...not even agreeing to simply refund installation costs. Instead, he has told us to contact the out of business manufacture and that they only warrant their work for one year. Use Caution if you decide to use this company!
