Lakeshore Handyman Services - Toilet, and tub/ shower removed. Ready for new shower unit

Lakeshore Handyman Services

Jason, with Lakeshore Handyman Services, has been an amazing craftsman. He came into our condo to…read moredo some work to assist me in my personal renovation. I had a tiling project where I didn't trust myself to be able to properly cut and space the tile around our irregular shower wall. He did such an impressive job and I'm a perfectionist. It truly looks fantastic. You would never know that there isn't a straight angled wall in that bathroom. In addition to our tile project, he also cut and hung our new interior doors, framed in a wall in the back of our laundry room covering a poorly built machinery access. Everything he did was well built, and his trade skills were impeccable. I am notoriously picky about perfection when it comes to finishes, and Jason was a level beyond even my standards. When it comes to customer service, he was very respectful with noise, and the work area was spotlessly clean after he left. Jason also impressed me with his ethics and professionalism. If I was not able to be present for some reason, I would trust him to continue working in my home unsupervised any day. I also knew that any quote I received would not mysteriously change after work began. As a resident and as the Condo Association President for my neighborhood, Jason with Lakeshore Handyman Services has been one of the best contractors I have ever had worked with and comes highly recommended.

JORGE TO THE RESCUE: We wish we called Jorge to do the self-leveling and installation of our floors…read morein the first place. It took three attempts to do the job! Jorge is an honest hard worker and EXCELLENT at his job. Now after 3 months of remodeling, we can finally say we are finished thanks to Jorge! Highly recommended. The back story; We had our garage converted. And the floors had to be re-leveled. We installed bamboo wood that ended up buckling due to moisture and a bad sub-floor level. The bamboo had to be ripped out and the floor was "supposedly" re-leveled a second time by our contractor who admitted to making a mistake, This time we installed laminate wood instead to be safe. And the sub-floor again was STILL UNEVEN! We fired our terrible Contractor who messed up twice then ghosted us and cost us a fortune. We got another team all together - one to pour self-leveler a third time and Jorge to install the laminate wood. There were still portions of the floor that were dipping. And jorge told us about it, he went out and bought cement and re-leveled the two spots himself right then and there knowing exactly how to install our floors to perfection. We are so grateful.

I can't say enough good things about Jim and Mike! We got ourselves into a situation in which we…read morewere living on an air mattress in the living room, had moved all of our stuff into a shed and the attic, started painting, opened drywall and relied on a friend to do the work for payment, and he bailed. With less than two weeks before my mom came for the holidays we were freaking out just a little. I reached out to Jim via Yelp and he responded within a couple hours, arranged a time to come over around our evening schedule, sent the bid within a couple hours offering options to add and subtract services based on our budget and was absolutely polite and professional. We had two other bids and JEM Flooring provided an inclusive cost to include moving furniture, installing trim, a toilet and added on some drywall for us- none of the others included these services and one wanted us to rent a pod, was dismissive of the flooring we purchased and didn't provide a complete bid. His costs were very reasonable, too. They worked through the weekend to keep the process moving with our approval and made our home look five times better than it did when we purchased. The floors have no gaps, the trim is caulked, the air return vents are no longer falling off the wall and they even installed extra trim throughout the rest of the house we planned to install ourselves. This was such an amazing surprise because this involved moving a couch from the kitchen, the washer and dryer, sweeping our pantry floor full of dry dog food and moving the fridge. Mike also installed it behind the toilet and a bathroom where they repaired the drywall. Lastly, Jim did a final walk-through with Mike on their final day to ensure everything was top notch before he met us in the evening again to walk us through everything before making the final payment. Invoices were easy to read, included the change orders and showed the discounts for the items we removed. Between the professionalism, politeness and personality of Jim and Mike I can't imagine working with anyone else. OMG, we are so happy!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Style Trend Kitchens & Baths

Style Trend Kitchens & Baths

We're so glad to be done dealing with StyleTrend Kitchens and Baths…read more The design process for our kitchen remodel went well with their designer, Gina. The demolition of the old kitchen and the installation of the cabinets was fine. The flooring went badly. We wanted to replace the vinyl flooring in the kitchen and in the nearby front hall. Between the entry and the kitchen is a set of eight stairs that we had carpeted just a few months ago by a different company. Style Trend suggested they could replace the carpet on the stairs with the vinyl tile they were using everywhere else, and it would look great. We agreed to that. They started with installing the vinyl tile in the kitchen and the entryway, but it turned out they hadn't ordered nearly enough. The owner, Randy, blamed Gina for that. Who knows? So, they ordered more flooring, which took another couple of weeks. Their installer came back and finished the kitchen area, and started the stairs. He tiled the stairs, but he ended up removing it to do it again, as he hadn't done a good job of lining up the seams. He laid down more tile on the stairs with the seams aligned better. He started putting on the bullnose pieces on the stairs, but then quit for the day. When he left, I looked at how he was applying the bullnose, and realized he was DOING IT WRONG. The bullnose and flooring are tongue and groove, and at the top of the stairs he had cut off the edge of the tile. Even if he hadn't, the kitchen flooring was installed 180 degrees in the wrong direction. No way for the stair bullnose to attach. I had consulted the manufacture's website and learned the CORRECT way to do it. When he returned the next day, I showed him what he was doing wrong and sent him away. Randy said that Gina had ordered the wrong bullnose. Bear in mind, it was the bullnose that the tile maker made for the tiles. Part of the system. Randy said there is third party product that can be used, so he ordered that, and it would take a week. About 2.5 weeks later it arrived, and the installer started again. He also had to retile the stairs (AGAIN!), because he had left too much gap between the end of the tiles and the wall...because Randy hadn't told him that there would be no molding, and the fit had to be exact. He was almost done, but struggled with cutting 45 degree miters where they were needed at the bottom of the stairs. He was cutting with the wrong type of saw, and the cuts were ragged and looked horrible. The third party aluminum pieces also looked poor with the tile, IMO. The installer said he would be back the next day with the right saw. We called Randy and told him we were done with Style Trend. Send us a bill for what you think we owe. He sent a bill, but it was more than the original amount. He was charging about $1400 extra for tile that he failed to order in the first place and for the tile that their installer had ruined. We agreed to pay the bill, minus the $1400, immediately, or he could wait until we consulted our attorney, which could take a lot of time. He agreed to take our immediate payment as payment in full. Believe or not, this is the condensed version of the ordeal. We called our favorite carpet store and they still had a remnant left from when they carpeted our living room and stairs this spring. They installed carpet on the stairs in an afternoon, and it looks fantastic. We would not use Style Trend again.
