Worried after reading these reviews but pleasantly surprised…read more Reservations are a must during peak season -it was packed and people were sitting outside on a 50 degree night (with portable heaters) Service was great. Large menu with plenty of food and drink options Food - salmon delicious but small portion - Cioppino was done well- scallops perfectly cooked. Shrimp overcooked. Sauce was a little watered down - sticky toffee pudding: best thing we ate hands down. Get it. - fall risotto: loved it - blueberry pie and French onion soup was okay - sweet potatoes fries: fantastic but we got 7-8 medium sized waffle fries for $6 Honestly for the price? Underwhelming BUT it's Bar Harbor and this is the standard. Outside of Bar Harbor 3.25. In Bar Harbor 4 stars

A bit of a bummer, but honestly, the rest of the experience more than made up for it. The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, which was a relief after coming from another place nearby that just had a terrible vibe. I started with the drink, the Tiger's Blood, and it was really good, refreshing and well-balanced. I was hungry so got right to the order! I got the truffled seafood risotto and wow absolutely incredible. Rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. I devoured every bite. I also had the halibut with orzo, green pea sauce, and broccolini, and that was another standout. Everything was plated beautifully and tasted just as good as it looked. Next, I tried the French onion soup. It was good, but I'm just not a huge fan of onion soups in general, so take that with a grain of salt. Now the crème brûlée....that was perfect. Crisp top, smooth and creamy inside. A true crème brûlée done right. The entire place had a calm, quiet atmosphere that I loved. Super cozy and just the kind of spot you want to go back to. I'll definitely be returning when I get the chance, maybe even when lobster is in season!

I'm convinced this is one of the best restaurants in Bar Harbor…read more We wandered in on a random Thursday afternoon to get a very late lunch. It was close to where we were staying, and we noticed it had a deck overlooking the water when we drove by. We had just come into town and were trying to get our bearings for the start of our trip. We were lucky enough to get Missy as our server. She was so incredibly with a big, friendly personality. If you choose to visit, I'd highly recommend you ask to sit in her section. We realized through her conversation with others, that there were several tourist regulars eating around us. She said one couple had been in town for two weeks and visited The Chart Room daily. There was another couple seated next to us that only ordered blueberry pie and coffee, then told their server they'd see him later as they'd be back for dinner time. That really says a lot about how good this restaurant is in my opinion. Obviously, being in Maine we had to try everything blueberry. The blueberry marg recommended by Missy was great! The real stand out though, was the blueberry pie. Truly, my husband and I agree, that it was the best dessert we've ever had. I can absolutely understand why people were returning and ordering just pie. We ended up coming back for dinner one night with the pie being our main motivation for dining here again! The food was also really good. I don't eat seafood and that's the bulk of most restaurant menus in Maine so unfortunately, I can't attest to how good it may have been. My food choices were more "boring", but still good. My salad was huge and tasty! My husband ordered the scallop special and while it was more expensive than he would've liked, he said it ended up being in the top 2 favorite meals he had during our vacation.

I had the Mediterranean Mezzo for my meal and if you'd like it gluten free you can ask for extra cucumbers instead of the pita bread. The waiter was nice enough to bring me the cucumbers after he brought out the dish as there was an abundance of pitas in comparison to the rest of the items. They give you 3 dips which were all delicious. Tzatziki, olive dip and a Muhammara which is a red pepper dip. We then got the Oysters Rockafeller to split. Lots of tobiko. Heavy sausage flavor. I would probably skip those next time. I will say regarding drinks, they have a beautiful cocktail list but my stomach wasn't feeling great so instead of a normal spicy margarita or something similar, I asked for a dirty martini and it came out with a funky flavor. Most likely too much vermouth. The poor waiter took at least ten minutes before returning with a new martini without vermouth. He or the bartender clearly did not know how to make this. If I returned to the area I'd definitely return for a funky cocktail and something a little more adventurous on the menu.

This spot is cozy and quaint and full of friendly local staff members. It was Kentucky Derby day and a lot of folks we were watching it as we walked in, ambiance was jovial and loud. Greeted immediately by the hostess and bartender and waited a short while for a table to open up. I ordered the chicken sandwich and my husband ordered the Reuben. He is Jewish and loves Reubens, gets them all the time. He said this one was really, really good. Great texture to the meat. Now, my Chicken Sandwich - was the best I've ever had in my life. I told my husband, I will be holding any and all future chicken sandwiches up to this one as the benchmark. The breaded chicken breast was huge and delicious quality white meat. It was dipped in buffalo sauce, and had fresh slaw, pickles, tomato and blue cheese sauce. It was DECADENT and it really hit the spot for me after a long day. I could not stop eating it. YUMMMM. Oh, we also ordered the pub fries - loaded with aioli and cheese and greens. Fries were delish but a bit too much aioli for our taste. Still, wonderful! Huge portion. Overall, food was yummy, out quickly, service was great and we loved the vibes. Easily a fav for us on this trip and we'll be looking forward to coming back again some day!
