First off, I am in Calgary, not San Francisco. After trying "home remedies" to deal with a wasp infestation under our concrete steps, none of which worked and only made things worse, we decided to get a professional in to deal with them. We phoned around to get estimates and settled on One Man and a Ladybug. In the evening of the day we called, 2 Ladybugs showed up. I showed them where the wasps were and they very quickly and efficiently dealt with them. The next day there was no sign of the wasps. The cost was the lowest of the estimates. PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT to All Calgarians in search of an exterminator for mice...DO NOT CALL!! I had called several places that I found on line and these guys called back first...Good sign right? Setting up an appointment was a bit of a gong show but Calgary has a growing mouse problem so I understood. Then came THE day I was waiting for... I HATE mice and after living in Brooklyn with rats and cockroaches, I would still take them over mice... So I was very excited about them coming :) The girl came in walked around the outside of the house with some tips on how to keep them from coming in, like keep the back door closed...hmmm... Then she got to work! She put out boxes with poison in them... You know the kind you buy at the hardware store? That will be $250 she said without laughing... After less than 20 minutes (including the cheque writing part) that was it! $250 to put traps in cupboards! My son should get paid more for at least almost loosing a finger while setting the little death traps... We were told that was all they do... No spraying, nothing else...Which thrilled the little mouse that came out 2 days later to say hi.. oh and another one of his family members that was trying out some mr noodles through the package in the cupboard (beside the trap) a week later... DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! We had an aphid infestation and wasp problem that was serious due to our 3 month old New born. They promised to come on a Sunday in the morning, did not show up and called in the afternoon saying they did not show up because of a concern about thunder storms. It was beautiful and clear all day and night. We called the next day and they said they could come that night. They then called at about 7:00 and left a message saying they were not coming because they were concerned about wind. There was absolutely no wind. We called again to reschedule the next day and they again promised to come out that night. They did not show up and claimed it was because it was too hot. The temperature was exactly what was forecasted for the night. They then said they would call when they were going to come over with no timeline as to when. I called and gave them a chance to come out and do it as promised. They did not. Plus they were rude, saying I did not understand the business. Give me a break!!! I called the tree doctor, they did it the next day and for less money. Very disappointed with the unprofessionalism of this company. Do not use this company!!!!! read more

I recently called 'One Man and a Ladybug' to come and identify a small bug that seemed to be infesting my yard. The service was prompt and pleasant. The bug was quickly identified as ladybug larvae which had recently hatched which was a good thing, given our elm tree had aphids! I was advised that it would be best not to spray the trees but rather let nature take it's course and allow the ladybugs to take care of the aphids, which was exactly what happened. This company could have sprayed extensively and charged me a fortune, but chose to to take the ethically correct and 'green' approach! I then asked them to look at some climbing vines which were not doing well. I had had this same problem six years in a row, and every timeI had had expensive chemical treatments that smelled foul, left a mess and not only did not solve the problem, but resulted in the leaves turning yellow and dying. I had tried six different companies! This time the problem was correctly identified and treated with no mess. I was delighted to find my vines thriving and healthy for the rest of the summer. Furthermore, the cost was significantly less than I had been charged by any other company! I highly recommend this company. The only reason I have given them 4 stars is that I have only had one experience with them .... but that one experience definitely rated 5 stars!! read more

Called them after a neighbour said they had used them.... 3 weeks later and two phone calls by me to check up on this supposed 'appointment' and still nothing. Not a phone call to update on weather situations, no communication whatsoever about why I was hearing nothing. They just said they were waiting for a solid 2-4 days of no rain, wind etc. I finally called another company today and they are coming tomorrow morning at 10. Same price. Don't bother. read more

Do not call this company!! They forgot to call to book an appointment with me, showed up at my house, called me and proceeded to berate me for not being home! They wanted to come back tomorrow "when they could" and when I couldn't confirm that I would be home all day long for them to show up at their convenience again she thanked she for wasting her time!
