Visited this lovely boutique while on vacation in Amsterdam…read more The experience was very pleasant. The charming owner made me and my friends feel welcome, helped pick out a few items of clothing, including perfect "Amsterdam" gifts for my friends back in New York. The items I bought are of quite high quality, yet, reasonably priced. I will definitely come back the next time I am in Amsterdam.
This store caught my attention as I strolled along Haarlemmerstraat in search of unique shops…read more Vintage and Design is a thrifty women clothing store with plenty of throw back clothes for vintage addicts.Vintage and Design focus more on trends rather then on so many brands. A great shop to browse through in search of old dresses, scarfs, swimsuits, unique handbags, and western old boots. If you are an eclectic girl, then you will consider this small shop a vintage heaven.

A lot of stores in Amsterdam claim to sell vintage, but the merchandise is more like second hand clothing. There is a difference if you ask a dedicated thrift shopper. Vintage has a direction and time period focus and second hand is anything that was worn by someone else and resold. They have a great selection of sweaters, jackets, fur, purses, belts, dresses, tops, and boots. I got one thick knee length black and grey sweater with buttons for 19€ and another sweater top which is more thin and delicate for 15€. They were both great purchases considering the prices I've seen for vintage in Amsterdam and the quality of both sweaters. If you want true vintage at a good price, definitely check this store out!
Visiting A Piece of Finland can broaden your general knowledge. At least in my case it did. Within…read more5 minutes I learned that the well-known brand iittala is Finnish and named after a city, that Nokia not only produces phones but also rubber boots (Nokian - available at the shop) and car tires (forget it) and the name of the recognizable hippo cartoon: Muumi, whose inventor Tove Jansson would have turned 100 this year. The Finnish intern welcomed me and nonchalantly started giving me a quick tour through the shop. They sell nice quality products (interior, some clothes and food) and she ensured me that she can get there all the things from her home country that she would miss abroad. In the back of the shop you can get Finnish sweets and coffee and sit down for a small talk. And don't forget to ask for the names of the sweets, I love the sound of the Finnish language. This place is definitely worth a visit, to have a look, a nice chat and maybe find a new favourite piece.
