Books & Coffee - Choux Sésame & Myrtille (4,00 €) - black sesame and blueberry choux. It's OK. Choux pastry feels a bit stale. Cream is really firm.

My wife did not - she just got a couple of a la carte items, and we both got a croissant. I'm going with 5 stars for a couple of reasons. One, coffee was excellent. My cappuccino was delicious, but every one of them was during this trip. Second, it's hard to find an american breakfast - it just isn't their thing. Third, the eggs and bacon were very good (but it was just scrambled eggs and bacon). Fourth, the croissant was delicious. Maybe I'm just so happy to have gotten a regular breakfast. The shop is very nice and seems like a great place to work if you need to. Its spacious and the staff was very friendly. I'd make it a stop on your trip if you plan on having breakfast that isn't just a baguette.

Great place for breakfast/ lunch. I stopped by for a lunch…read moreon a weekday and I waited about five minutes to find a table. Salad lunch combo (formule) was excellent. Salad was seasoned with base of balsamic vinegar and basil pesto on top. In this very meat-heavy country, I was glad to find something I could eat (and enjoy). They were so busy each step of service took a little longer than I'd have liked. But at least they were all very friendly and helpful.

Books & Coffee - Flan Vanille de Tahaa (~4,50 €) - super sweet and rich, very creamy. Good, but I wish it were less sweet.

I would give this place 1,000,000 stars if I could…read more Of my 5-month studying abroad stint in Bordeaux, the Cock and Bull is arguably what I miss the most, and I definitely spent more time here than I ever spent in class. You will find no better pub in the city for expat Anglophiles, especially if you happen to be a student from the University of California studying abroad in France. If you fall into this category, let the bartender know...trust me, you will be hooked up. For everyone else, the Cock and Bull is a really lively pub managed by an Englishmen and staffed by French, American, and English bartenders who are all fluent in English and French. They have a full bar and a small but solid selections of beers on tap (Kilkenny, how I miss thee). It can get pretty crowded on Thursdays and Saturdays until the place closes at 2 AM. The drinks are strong and the crowd is a young mix of French and foreign college students. The onion rings and potato wedges are bomb. BEST PART: plastic cups are kept at the door, so if you're heading out you can take your beer TO GO. God I love Europe. Quiz night is a ton of fun on Monday nights, and gets very very crowded, so make sure to get here early for seats. The questions are read out in English and French and there's a chugging contest in the event of a tie. Can't beat that. On nights of a big football game, there's a giant pull-down screen that broadcasts the matches (they also let us watch the inauguration of Barack Obama here. It's appropriate to celebrate the first African-American president with shots of vodka...right?). Beer is about 7 euro, 4 euro during happy hour. Mixed drinks run from 8-10 if I remember correctly. The place is also really easy to get to - literally a hop, skip, and a jump from the Musée d'Aquitaine tram stop on Line B and a 1 minute walk from Pey-Berland/Hotel de Ville. What makes this place though, is the staff. Mickey, who runs the joint, is sometimes belligerent, always hilarious, very generous with the complimentary shots, and the sweetest guy ever. The bartenders are some of the friendliest you'll ever meet, too. So if you find yourself looking for a chill place to get your drink on in Bordeaux, head to C&B, have a whiskey-coca, toast to santé, and enjoy your night in one of France's most beautiful cities.

1 Star only, the owner has been hateful and rude (obviously drunk)... Bad experience is this place,…read moreeven though this pub was supposed to remind us the Cock and Bull at W 45th St, NYc, whatever not at all, we ordered at 1:25a and they asked us to leave 5min after, like "give the money and get out". They have three different patties but I went with the good ole classic beef burger. You get 5 free toppings (fresh or grilled) so I went with lettuce, a sweet onion compote which was fantastic, and zucchini. They also have a few sauces to choose from and I went with one of their house sauces and it was also pretty good. The fries were heavenly. All I needed was a milkshake to complete my meal but all in all this place is a must. There aren't a whole lot of make your own burger places in Bordeaux so it was nice to be able to choose what went in my burger. Will be eating here more often now that I tried it.

It is really small inside on the first floor but they have seating on the second floor. They play really good music which can always add or take away from the food for us. The owners are really good guys and make everyone feel welcome. The burgers are made with quality ingredients. Ordering is styled after 5 Guys in the states. I like to get pesto on my burger and this was the first place I had it and it blew my mind, super good. Meat is fresh, veggies are fresh and the bun is decent. The place is still pretty new (they opened in January 2013) so they are still improving and getting better every time. Wait time can be a bit long sometimes as they are often training new staff. It is a bit pricey and could be a little cheaper because of the burger size. It's about 12-15 euro if you get fries and a drink. A good burger spot in the center of Bordeaux and a guaranteed good meal.
