She'll soon be leaving their employ. Who knows where she'll pop up next, hunh? DO NOT ALLOW YOUR PET TO BE GROOMED BY Ms. Linda Yost. Although she came very highly recommended by someone to the shop owner, she is no good in my opinion (based on recent experience). She cut my pet several times - 7 to be exact. I have very detailed pictures of her injuries taken 8/4/2007. I'd post the pix on here, but I don't see a link for that. WHEREEVER YOU GO TO FOR GROOMING MAKE SURE THIS GROOMER IS NOT HANDLING YOUR PET! There's no telling where she'll get a job next. My pet is 8 years old and has been groomed regularly since she was 6 months old. This is the VERY first time anything like this has ever happened. Despite all of this I'd like to say... I know the shop owner and she's fantastic. In a couple of months, when she gets a new groomer, I'll be back. I've recommended someone (Miss Leota) who is wonderful and I'm waiting for them to hire her. She has been grooming my pet for over 2 years now, without incident and she is without a doubt an excellent and gentle groomer and she is phenomenal with small dogs. Call and ask for her by name. If you know anyone who is a skilled groomer, give the shop a call, they are looking for several. I will keep this posting updated. Oh, yes, speaking to Mel G.'s posting. There is no such thing as bowel evacuation at a grooming facility, there IS however, "expressing the anal glands" - which is routinely done with a grooming and with a vet visit. This is very important as it impacts you're dog's health directly. Not doing this for your pet this cause an infection (and worse over time, can lead to cancer, etc.). My vet told me about this several years ago and showed me everything. I love my dog and I make sure this gets done.

Little did we know that we were in for so much more! So you walk in Pet Expressions and you realise that not only do they offer pet grooming and a SMALL selection of pet food and toys on one side, but, by God, they also offer flower arrangement IN THE SAME STORE! Brilliant! Not only can you get your dog bathed but you can pick up a lovely bamboo plant while you wait! What in the hell is that about?! Obviously someone didn't go to Harvard to learn to write that business plan! So anyway, I have to get my dog bathed and I drop him off with no notice which was fine with them since they're new and didn't have much business. The cost was good ($20 for a first-time visitor) and I didn't have to wait too long. The problem was when I came back. I show up and here comes my dog with some ratty-ass bandana tied around his neck! Now I know that PetsMART (which I love) does the same thing but at least their's is branded with their logo. THIS bandana looked like something that my grandmother would have had in her fabric scraps to use for quilting and the church social! I wouldn't have that crap in my house much less around my dog's neck so I borrowed their scissors and cut it off and made a mental note to ask for "no ugly bandana" the next time. So the groomer comes out and tells me how good he was and how she....(are you ready for this??)....EVACUATED HIS BOWELS!! What?!?! You did WHAT to my dog WITHOUT MY PERMISSION?! Yeah, apparently she shoved some water hose up my boy's bum to clean him out! Are you kiddin' me?! You don't do that crap without telling someone first! Now, when I take my boy to PetsMART, they don't pull that crap (no pun intended) so what made her decide to do it without my permission?! I decided right there that I'd made my last visit to Pet Expressions regardless of how convenient it may be. I'm very protective of my dog and NO ONE will be performing invasive procedures on him w/out my knowing about it first! I can go to PetsMART in the future for the bath and can't think of a time in my life when I've needed an ugly Lucky Bamboo Plant but if I do, I'll find it somewhere besides the pets store! UPDATE: 9 July 2007.....While walking my pooch last week, I was stopped by two of the (frantic) owners of Pet Expressions. They asked if I had seen a particular type/color of dog that had apparently gotten loose and ran out the door and was LOST!? DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS TO THIS PLACE! As a loyal customer for many…read moreyears, I was caught off guard at the change in management and rate increases when I boarded my dog in August. I walked in and immediately noticed some improvements in the rebrand and lobby design which looked nice, so I asked the person checking me in, and she said "I'm the new owner." without taking time to introduce herself by name or mentioning the changes in policy or how the boarding rate increased from $35 to $45 dollars a day. The vibe definitely seemed different, and it wasn't a great first impression. The business is currently owned and operated by a former customer, and I think that connection is neat because it shows faith in the organization. That's a cool story, and I sure wish I had received notification about that and the new business transition. If you're in charge, transparency in client communication should be just as important as taking great care of animals. My dog lost weight while there, and we were sent home with over 50% of her food supply because she is an anxious dog, but I've never experienced this while boarding her before. I appreciate the time the owner took talking with me over the phone because I called her to discuss my experience after we picked up our dog. The business seems understaffed and current employees undertrained, and those factors really came across in the whole experience. I wish Bark Avenue the best in the future, especially in their efforts to retain longstanding customers.

They came for a consultation to meet the cats and asked lots of questions so they knew where everything was, knew the cats routine, and were prepared in case of emergency. They sent us videos of the cats while we were gone to reassure us everything was ok, and left us notes of the details of each visit for us when we came back which were very cute. They were great with the cats and the cats were happy to have them visit and play. Reasonably priced. They went above and beyond expectations. Will continue to be a repeat customer.
