If you told me I was going to love a gas station this much, I'd tell you you're crazy. Freshies is…read moreunlike any other gas station- it had a full service sub and pizza shop. I got a caprese pizza, with fresh basil and balsamic glaze on top. The dough was hand stretched and created, and made to order. The wait was a little long, and the staff moved a touch slow- but I considered this the pace of the state, and as an out-of-towner, I just waited patiently and explore the rest of the offerings. They had a FULL liquor store inside this gas station. As a NYer, this was insane to see- they had scotch, vodka, etc- everything you could want! There was a nice coffee station, milkshake machine, etc. It was so good, we went here again a second day to get sandwiches for the road. They also had a good supply of Humpty Dumpty chips in a flavor called AAll-Dressed. These were life changing. I bought ALL of the bags they had (only 4 left) and ate one on the drive home, and another that evening at the next hotel. This place is clean, accommodating, has a lot to offer, so if you are going to picnic at Acadia or just want to stock your campsite- this is a great place for everything, and to get some fresh-made and affordable food.

Happened as we gathered coffee for all the chief figures within our RV. So there was this gas station in the fork betwixt two roads. Our purchase for today was simple. Coffee. At the very least, we wanted good coffee. We didn't want pizza nor gasoline nor cold brews, which is also served here. We sent two people to fetch us one cup but unfortunately, they returned empty handed and with expressions of shock. Apparently, one of the people we sent in asked for the quality of the coffee. One of the employees replied with a tone nobody would like. "I don't know, why don't you ask the cashier?" Ack. From the bowels of the probably sleepy headed worker came forth that question. You see, folks, submission and helpfulness are two aspects of a sales associates' proper repertoire. Not questioning nor biting tones nor negative emotion. Cry and gossip when we are out of sight, okay? That's what I did when I was a sales associate in the Bronx. Our coffee starved chauffeur knew what to do. Go in and get coffee. So we followed him, which was probably what set those two employees off into a demonic rant to call the cops. Yes, call the authorities over a dirty mug of java. Wish for your higher figure to be here to retaliate with a fusillade of retaliatory rage. To say that I am a slanderer and that I am a yellow journalist (or a yellow yelper (= ). Not a good reaction at all. So we left dissatisfied of course. The rancid scent of their coffee did not follow into our auto, but we trumped out with puddles of brown liquid all over their gas station floor. Sugar accompanied the floor. Oh yeah. The gas station and it's pumps were empty around 5PM when this happened. During the touristy season of Summer.
