I've always been intrigued with boxing, I practice with my partner and brother from time to time- both whom have experience. I got there, the front desk person-who happens to be a trainer there too- was welcoming, helped me put on my wraps (you have to purchase theirs for $13 if you don't bring your own) told me where the locker room was to get ready and showed me the cubby area. I was ready in no time! To start the instructor warms you up with jumping jacks, jump rope and burpees- amongst other things- & then you get to business. Gian was very thorough with explaining posture, form, & combinations. We practiced what we learned and boy was it a workout!! We also had a chance to practice hitting the bag and ended the class with some core exercises. Needless to say, by the end of the workout I was beat!!! But it felt sooo good. My Monday morning mishap turned into a great opportunity, one I'll be frequenting on a weekly basis

With a class of 8, I didn't feel like I was left out of the group. Parking and traffic around the area are not as difficult as I thought (drives a 7 passenger and lives in Flushing). There's plenty of meters and a garage close by. I find street parking every time I attend. His gym is also walking distance from some very good restaurants nearby, so that's another plus. Overall, I highly recommend Chinatown Flow to anyone who is looking for a clean, organized, fun, and motivating instructor.

Typical workout session: I do 2 sessions/week that focus on a fully body workouts. After each workout I feel like I've been challenged and pushed myself (usually hit a new personal best every 1-2 weeks) but I don't feel sore the next day which is absolutely the perfect balance for me. He also is very attentive and receptive and helps customize my workout plan so it works best for me, my schedule, and my personal goals. Adrian is very focused on sustainable training so every session consists not only of doing the exercise but taking time to reflect when things go wrong, and focus on form and efficiency of each movement. He has excellent cues and tips and even sometimes tweaks some of the exercises if my mobility is limited for example. In addition to growing stronger (going from new-lifter to now being able to deadlift 315lbs for reps), Adrian has taught me how to enjoy exercise and how to consistently workout in a way that's good for my growth and focuses on good form, mobility, and strength. For those…read more30-60 minutes, you will be moving, sweating, moving some more, sweating some more, you get the picture. Mike is one of the most strategic technical trainers that I have ever met! In high school psychology, I learned about gestalt or something that is more than the sum of its parts. Gestalt totally describes Mike's workout strategy. Depending on the workout that you are doing i.e. 4x4 beginning, 4x4 intermediate, the gauntlet, you will do 4-5 rounds. In each round, you will do 2 sets of each exercise and within each set, you will do anywhere from 5 to 30+ reps. In the beginning of each round when Mike first explains each exercise, nothing looks or sounds too crazy, but put together, oh baby, you feel the burn and that round somehow becomes more challenging than you thought it would be. Despite that challenge and the fatigue that you will definitely encounter, Mike makes the whole experience positive and always is watching your form. The most challenging part of the workout is remembering the exercises and number of reps for each exercise for each round and then keeping track of how many reps you have done. Only recommendation I would add is perhaps getting dry erase markers and writing out the exercises on the mirror and the number of reps for that round. Major bonus points to Mike for always remembering clients' names!
