Let me first start by saying I take all my reviews seriously. I communicated with Ed via email before I made my purchase. I had a specific firearm in mind and it's all I wanted. He got back to my email in now more than two hours. Hard to put an exact time on it due to the fact I was working. I walked in and introduced myself and he recalled our correspondence on the particular firearm. I had multiple questions of the firearm due to the fact that it's a major purchase for anyone to make and you want what's right for you. You need it to work and you need to know how it works. Ed was able to answer all of my questions except which variant that firearm was just that it's the only Massachusetts compliant version. Which at the end of the day is all that matters. For those who have never purchased a firearm it's a different experience. In this state it's a process of paper work for both you and the seller. So you get talking and sometimes the conversation is stale but sometimes you walk away learning something you didn't know before. I walked away learning something. Went in the other day as I had a couple questions about tuning the gas block on an older style Colt ar15 rifle. I think his name was ed but whoever I spoke to at the counter couldn't have been less helpful and 90 percent sure he had no idea what he was talking about as all the advice he gave me was centered around ammo type. Refused to receive a mass compliant firearm that I purchased direct from manufacturer. The reason i was given was "we sell those, so why would we transfer it?" They are listed on gun broker as an FFL which receives transfers. This purchase was from manufacturer not gun broker but they would not even look at paperwork to know this was the case they just said no before knowing any details. Went to Lakeville gun shop instead and Ed had no issues receiving the transfer for me. No idea why on target wasn't interested but it makes me not want to go there for anything. Its a simple service any gun shop should offer as its no work for them and they still make a small profit. Gun shops should help customers with any firearms related needs, big or small. Thats what separates the good shops from the lesser ones. Edit: after reading the response of the shop owner I must mention he did indeed give me a buisness card for an FFL they said would do the transfer. Due to the off-putting and somewhat rude nature of the interaction at the shop, I chose not to contact him immediately and instead went to the next shop on my list which happened to be Lakeville. I also never said you were confused and was pointing out that your shop is listed in multiple places including gun broker as accepting transfers for a 25 dollar fee. If I had bough this gun through gunbroker would you have accepted it even if you sell them in your shop? Edward, feel free to explain the breakdown of expenses your claiming for you to accept a firearm since this is the point you have chosen to address. If shops can charge 25-35 dollars on average to do a transfer and still make money it can't be costing much if anything outside the 10 minutes of labor cost to fill out paperwork and submit a background check. You are certainly not losing money to do it, and at the very least should be providing it as a service to your local firearm community, while building long term customers who will want to come to you for all their firearm needs. I dont need to own a gun shop or have a degree in business to figure that out. Also, a quick google search shows it cost you nothing but the time it takes to fill out paperwork so please feel free to give me the breakdown of what these costs to you are and why they are too high for you to provide this service yourself. Your response solidifies my point that you don't seem to care about your customers as you have chosen to attempt to shoot down and discredit my review rather than fix the way you treat your customers. Prove me wrong and I will happily update my review again. Until then all I can do is report my interaction with you and your staff, and how it compares to dozens of other local shops, all who are willing to accept transfers for a small fee. read more

Main guy at the desk didnt know how to use an armorers wrench to remove the butstock off the buffer tube of an AR15 (basic magpull stock) . I went there to buy and use an armorers wrench for that reason. I wanted to know how to properly use it before I went home. Ended up researching & got it done in 5 mins. After quite some time, I've decided to write a review because I'm compelled to let everyone know my experience at On Target Training. After much research I settled On Target Training to take my gun safety class to obtain my LTC. The trainer, Ed, seemed like a respected and experienced person in the field of firearms. I opted for the live fire class at the Braintree Rifle and Pistol club. The class was informative and Ed did a good job of teaching the curriculum and explaining everything. After receiving my permit I returned to On Target to purchase my first firearm. Again, I exhaustively researched my options and coincidentally Ed had sent out a email newsletter, which I had subscribed to, announcing a sale on the firearm I was planning on purchasing. I immediately called him up and asked if I could place a deposit on it until I was able to pick it up. I was in the middle of a move and had not been able to pick up the gun for two weeks, when I got a call from Ed saying that if I didn't pay off the balance or pick it up by the weekend he would sell it to someone else. Not wanting to lose out on the opportunity, since the gun was back ordered for about 2 months, I gave him the balance over the phone. That weekend I took the hour drive to the shop to pick up my new gun. As I stood at the counter with Ed waiting for him to complete the transaction, another customer approached and asked me what I bought. I told him the model and he replied "Very nice! We finished everything up, I signed the paperwork and was on my way. I went out to my car opened to box to admire my new hardware and to my shock it was a completely different model than I originally ordered.. so I closed the box and walked back in. I explained to Ed that this wasn't what I asked for. He proceeded to tell me that's exactly what I asked for in the email I had sent him. The truth was that I had never had any email communication with him about this deal.. ever, yet he insisted I did. When I asked him to show me the emails, he couldn't produce them. He carried on by saying, "Just taking it out and pull the trigger, you have fun with it! And if you don't like it, you'll easily get your money back when you sell it". I can say now that was all a hoax just to get me out of the store. I've recently sold the gun and in fact lost money on the deal. Incidentally, I fell for the old bait and switch. I firearm I had on hold was likely sold and what I was given was put in its place. Ed had the opportunity to correct me when I told that customer what I thought I was buying, but he instead took my money and ran. With the questionable integrity and business practices of a place like that I will never return, and also make it a point to discourage anyone else from doing business there as well. I realize that my experience may not be typical, but it happened none the less. read more

Great place to go whether you are new to guns or have an arsenal already. I took my gun safety class here which was the first step in getting a LTC in MA. They offer classes either at the store location or a live fire class at Braintree Rifle and Pistol club. I took the live fire class. The guy who owns the store, Ed, is a great guy to talk with and is not into any high pressure sales. I went to the store over a dozen times looking at various guns before I finally made my first purchase. After that, I spent another several dozen visits looking at other guns and just having fun talking with everyone there. And yes, I did make other purchases finally! The store was originally on the small side but still had quite a bit of stock. They recently expanded the shop after a Zumba closed down so the store is quite large. He normally keeps a good selection of guns on hand. Lot's of Rugers, Smith and Wesson's, some Sig's. He usually has a bunch of gen 1 and gen 2 glocks for sale as well which can be hard to find here in MA. He keeps ammo stocks as best as he can in the current ammo shortage. Other than .380acp and 22LR, he seems to always have ammo in stock. Prices range from good to "MSRP". I've purchased some ammo that would be considered on the very low end of price but he also has ammo that is very expensive. Examples would be when I saw Magtech for about $20 a box for .40 caliber (which is low price in today's market) and some Winchester for $30 (which is really high). regardless of prices which can fluctuate a lot these days, he usually has ammo in stock if I need it. Gun prices are usually around MSRP. I've seen some of the guns he sells for less elsewhere but Ed will have sales from time to time or you can haggle with him a bit. He also carries a lot of used guns so you can save a lot of money grabbing one of these. I bought one and it has been flawless for me. Overall, a great place to stop in and do some shopping. And also a great place to learn stuff whether it is gun saftey, gun laws or just general shooting. Everyone who works there is friendly and willing to help. read more

I had high hopes for this place after driving past it by accident. They had a lot of Glock accessories which is great so I made a point of going back. However when I went back the owner (not 100% he was the owner but I think he was) was talking to someone else in the store. The guy asked the owner why does it say LE only on some of the hand guns? The owner told him it is Law Enforcement and that only certain firearms (in this case he meant Glocks) in this state can only be sold to cops. My mistake was adding the fact that basically an FFL can't sell a Glock to civilians after 1998 or whatever but I have a few anyways including the one on me. I then explained how it's legal to own and carry one just not legal for the FFL owner to sell one to me past 1998. The owner then said that that's not true and told me it's illegal to own or possess or carry a Glock. At first I laughed thinking he was joking when I realized he wasn't joking I proceeded to ask him "So you think it's illegal for me to possess or carry a Glock?" He Said "Yes"! Then I said "So your telling me that if a cop was to pull me over with my Glock on me I will be arrested and charged and basically I'm considered a criminal cause of my Glock 43 right now?" He said "Yes it's illegal". I put down what I planned on buying and as I was leaving I said to him "I find it sad and disappointing that an owner of an FFL does not know the law and even worse passing on falsehoods to new law abiding gun owners!" After talking to few people on some Facebook sites apparently I'm not the only one who has had this same exact issue with this store. Besides this guy the store seemed nice he had a lot of stuff and if it wasn't for this issue I'm not going to lie I'd go back however I can't in good conscience give my business to a place that doesn't know mass law and worse is telling people the wrong thing. Glock owners beware! I also left a review on their Facebook page my intention is not to hurt a small business owners especially a fellow gun owner but I think it needs to be said and to tell fellow Glock lovers to go somewhere else. read more
