I am very grateful for the role that Nicole Freeling played in our son's college selection process, and would like to explain it in some detail. My wife and I approached Nicole during our son's sophomore year. He had suffered a brain injury the prior summer and was struggling in school because of visual deficits and persistent head pain resulting from the trauma. At that moment, we were more concerned about how to get the right treatment for our son -- and the right accommodations in place -- so he could finish high school. But engaged Nicole because the decisions we made would ultimately affect our son's ability to attend a great university, and we wanted him to believe that this was still within his reach. He's a deeply intellectually serious young man, so we wanted to keep his horizons broad. Nicole did the research and returned to us with the conclusion that we should extend our son's high school career so he could focus on his recovery, and that a fifth year of high school would be a better solution for his circumstances than graduating on time with a less rigorous curriculum. We plotted his high school trajectory to maximize time spent in recovery during this junior year, ramping up the rigor and density of his coursework through a "gap year" that allowed him to finish his A to G requirements most at UC Berkeley and BCC, to great success. Nicole believed in our son and supported his application to a range of selective colleges. She had on-point advice on making the list, ensuring that it included schools he would likely get into as well as reach schools. Most importantly in this process, she encouraged our son to tell the story of his recovery, which he was not otherwise inclined to do. In the end, he was admitted early decision to a highly competitive college, where we believe he will thrive. We are all very grateful for Nicole and On My Way for their role not just in the college process, but in our son's overall recovery. These are good people. read more

We worked with Julie Mozena for my son's college research and applications and she was a lifesaver! I had a phone call with Priscilla Vivio, from the very beginning she was not welcoming and by the end of the call I was crying. As the meeting went on she was constantly condescending, snarky, laughing at me, and having audible reactions when I shared my information , all which is very unprofessional. When I told her I didn't appreciate her laughing at me she quickly said she wasn't and we weren't going to be a good fit. Which I agreed I don't think someone who is behaving that way on the first phone call without even having my transcript to see my qualifications is going to be able to help me. Her attitude and actions not only made me cry, but also feel discouraged to reach out to someone else. Instead of denying the clear fact she was never nice to me and continuously mocked me, she could've handled it differently. Julie was a fantastic counselor! Our son got into his top choice public UC! Julie is a career editor who puts that experience into the kids' essays. When I read her comments on my son's drafts, I told him that if he could respond to these comments in a thoughtful way, his essays would be fantastic. We received handwritten notes from selective private schools telling us how much they appreciated his story written in his essays. We were so happy with Pricilla's help and guidance when each of our sons began the college admission process. Many of our kids friends parents who had previously applied to college said it was torture and they regretted not hiring a consultant. I rarely put 5 stars because I always think everyone has a chance to be better....however in this case, even though I am sure Priscillia would say she always tries to "be better", I have to give here a 5 star...We had signed up with her last year BEFORE "the pandemic" and were looking forward to whatever help we could have gotten....AND I can say for certain we would have TOTALLY been lost once COVID hit. Priscilla was a godsend for my kids and me as we entered the college decision stage of their teen years. One of my smarter decisions. Nicole Hosemann, who owns On My Way Consulting, made the college search, application, and essay process for my daughter go smoother then I could have ever imagined. Nicole's care in getting to know Maddie and what she desired in her college experience, knowledge of the many colleges and universities both in CA and outside CA, assistance with the essays, and more made this a completely positive experience for Maddie. The best part for me, as the parent, is hiring Nicole allowed me to "just be Mom". This eliminated the stress of arguing with and nagging Maddie to get all the various steps in the college application process done in a timely manner. The bonus has been seeing my daughter reap the benefits of her work through this process by receiving acceptance letters from all of her top choice schools.
