The Omniplex is a small six-screen cinema in Carrickfergus. It is clean and well maintained, and they have a good selection of the latest films on offer.
I don't mean to sound at all ungrateful, because I am glad Carrickfergus actually has a cinema, and I can well remember the days before it was built, and how glad we were when we got it, but generally, I would tend not to use this cinema.
I'm not a huge film buff or cinema fan, it's just not one of my favourite pastimes, but when I do go, I like the proper 'cinema experience' with the nachos, hot dogs, ice-cream, the works, and unfortunately Carrick cinema doesn't have any of that, there is just a small pick 'n' mix area, and a vendor of soft drinks and popcorn, which just doesn't quite do it for me, I'm afraid.
The other reviewer did make a good point, though. If you want to see a movie in a quiet cinema without giggling teenagers talking, tittering, and munching their way through the film, then this is the place for you.
It would also be spot on for parents taking their children out, as there are some fab places to eat nearby and it would make a great day out for a Saturday daytime. read more
