I hired Welzig once, and a CMS technician showed up to do the service. He did the work quickly and replaced my humidifier contactor pad for free, but then the selling started. Replace my perfectly good Honeywell thermostat with a smart controller ($500+) that uses forecasts from the internet instead of the house temperature to decide when to run. Clean the ducts for $1,000 (do they know about the ValPak $299 company?). Add a water alarm device for $500 (I already have one from a multipack I got at Costco for $20). Literally $10k in recommended "improvements", and they really really wanted me to sign up for a service membership. Sure I get my tune ups, but also a plumbing and electrical consult I don't need each year. I have no confidence whatsoever they wouldn't intentionally damage or fail to service my unit in order to get me to buy a new one. I'm a redneck engineer from the South. I'm used to chainsawing my way out of the neighborhood after hurricanes, building blast furnaces using old lawnmowers, and cobbling together whatever I'm wanting to make (chicken coops, rabbit hutches, fences, you name it) out of whatever scraps are laying around or free on Craigslist. I'm scrappier and more miserly than most, but for those like me who are inclined to open their condenser when it stops running instead of calling an HVAC company to spend $250 on diagnostics, this is not the company for you anymore.

They got after it and did good quality work. Jake oversaw the project and he was always patient with my questions and ready to explain what needed to be done. Cost: I got 6 estimates for this project and theirs was the best price and the best plan. Cleanliness: The workers were careful and mostly cleaned up after themselves well (although I did find a handful of sheet metal screws on the driveway afterward). Promptness: They showed up when they said they would and worked quickly. Communication: On site, they did a great job of communicating. But contacting them with a question can require patience. I've waited 2 weeks for an e-mail response to a question before with them. I understand that companies get busy, but you have to respond even if it's to say "I don't have time to address this right now but you'll hear from me in a week." It's the only reason for 4 stars. Overall, we were happy we chose them. Jake was fantastic.

I mainly worked with Nate; he was on time and responsive with my many questions prior to, during and after completion of the project. With a job as big as ours, in a 100+ year old house, I anticipated that there could be issues. However, I like to judge a company not on if there are problems but how they take care of them when they arise. No worries with Nate. Bumps in the road were smoothed without incident. It is clear that Nate really cares about his customers. His crew cleaned up after themselves treating our home as if it were their own. The job finished on time and we love our new geothermal system.
