I heard several employees in the back room of the store but with the sign saying "employees only" I did not enter. I waited for 10 mins and no one came up to me or asked if I needed anything. I watched one representative meet a woman that walked in the door, walked her back to her product, looked at me and walked to the front registers. I walked back to the front and asked the cashier if she could call someone and the representative who had walked to the front again looked at me and then continued his conversation with the lady. I then walked to the back and waited another 3-5 mins with no one coming to the counter with several employees still laughing and cutting up in the rear of the store. I then walked to the front doors to leave and the same representative was still flapping his gums to the lady that had walked in 5 mins after I did and was already checked out. I stated no one came to help me to the cashier and walked out of the store. I'm opening a new business in the area and this ACE will not receive any business from us, hope the laughing and the extended unneeded conversations were worth it.

This store is broken up into two big rooms. The one towards the left is more upscale gift like. You will find lotions, cards, kitchen gadgets and candles/soaps. While it is a bit pricey, I love the local and well curated feel. They have nice candies and snacks from Asheville and some great natural products. Some old fashioned soda in the back for hot summer days. The right side is more your everyday stuff and traditional general store items. You will find actual hardware, command strips, soil, birdseed and leaning supplies. The front has cute games and books. Again, check the prices as some are quite fair (I got birdseed and a birdfeeder for the cat that costs similar to Amazon prices) but some can be high. Other random info- They also do handiwork and make key copies. That's nifty. You can become a member and get some discounts if you wish (it's free). I called in advance. Ensured the product was in stock and let them know I had questions and was on my way. The Festool guy asked two other peeps to answer my questions, including a phone handler who said she didn't know anything about the product. After the second staff told the Festool guy I had questions, he grudgingly came over. Pretty sure I was being marginalized cuz I am a chick. Really don't enjoy being treated poorly when I come to spend $500. We won't be back. I can be dissed for free.

The plants are very well cared for thanks to an employee named Lawrence. Lawrence has mega knowledge about plants, fertilizers, weed killers and how to treat garden pests. On the downside, I have spent time searching for an employee to help me. They just do not seem to care. I was looking for a specific tool. The young woman was stocking something. So she points to one of several isles . No walking me back to be sure I found what I wanted. Looking at fertilizers. Here again a man was stocking but did not offer to help. Poor customer service. They had issues related to a mill being stolen but I was willing to wait because they're a small, local company. So Jared says my slab is set to be cut first week of May and he contacted me May 3rd to verify measurements and he says they're getting ready to cut it. That's the last contact Jared had with me. I recommended to my family to go to hilltop for an unrelated wood project. While they were at hilltop in early July, they asked about the status of my wood slab and were told "yeah, we couldn't do that". That was the entire explanation. I never heard from Jared. Horrible customer service and honestly would never do business with them. I'd still be waiting if family members hadn't happened to ask while they were there. Do yourself a favor and go to Asheville Hardware instead, I walked in and had my pick of over 100 slabs, got one for cheaper than hilltop quoted me and had it in my garage that same day. So hilltop took 6 months and I got no slab. Asheville Hardware, I had a slab in my truck within an hour. The owner of hilltop left me a voicemail after I contacted them. Apparently he had no idea any of the issues with my order or the customer service I received which isn't a good sign for an extremely small business.
