We've been going here for 3 years. This year was the worst! Every year we ask for a later spot and are told none are available. So when you do your taxes the end of January and you don't have everything it makes it hard, but when you get everything to them in Feb, why is is April 3 and only after calling weekly and bring told they're going to be filed in a couple days did they just get filed? And that was after saying I was going to go there in person! Asked for a call from David and did not get a call back.very unprofessional. I think they have too many clients to be client focused. Been seeing David (both Sr and JR) for over 18 years now. I cannot believe that I haven't left a review! This family has managed our taxes while we lived in a few other states, some complex situations and even helped us when we started our business. He helped us get our books set up, our payroll, looked into retirement options. Yearly reviews for tax planning. He helped from start to finish. Through all the moves (former military) David was always available to talk and help me through my questions. I wish I could share some of the personal situations but let me say this. If you get audited and need an expert in tour corner you better make sure you have someone like David and his team to back you up and walk you through the steps. read more

Cannot continue to do business with a firm that we patronized for well over a decade. When Olympus staff releases with our tax docs, copies of their other clients' documents containing their names and partial SSN, and then calls and leaves a recorded voice mail message (forever saved), apologizing for the screw up but "know that your information did not go out to anyone else", and this firm has access to routing and account numbers and other highly sensitive information that clearly they have cavalier attitudes toward (owner called, more worried if we had shredder or fireplace to burn their other clients documents, than the clear violation of privacy committed by his business - buck stops with the owners), they have serious internal issues. This is not a joke! This was a crystal-clear violation of minimally 4 clients' right to privacy and a duty of care violated by Olympus Financial. We are willing to bet that no notification was given to the other four (4) clients that in early 2023 some of their information was released to one of Olympus' other clients. Moreover, when we send a grandchild to Olympus Financial for 2022 tax preparation of the grandchild's taxes for the first time, ask Olympus to set up an LLC for the grandchild's new business venture, and our grandchild ends up with a tax bill of a few thousand MORE dollars and is supposed to pay the California FTB, the grandchild reaches out to the "professional" accountant about the tax-due notice and fails to have the accountant return phone/text messages and, until we, the grandparents, see the tax notice from the California FTB and encourage our grandchild to keep calling the "professional" accountant until he responds, and then is finally told by the accountant that there shouldn't be anything due or owing, but to "just pay it" to the State of California !! What did Olympus' accountantant do wrong in the tax preparation or LLC extension, and why would you just condone paying anything to a taxing authority without PROTECTING your client's financial interest? Did Olympus Financial drop the proverbial "extension" ball on an LLC? Then, reading a review by another client that said: "I had the other accountant file an extension on our personal taxes, but it was already too late for the LLC. Yesterday I received a letter from the IRS charging us with a $1680 penalty for the LLCs." Sounds very familiar to what happened to our grandchild, only on the State of California FTB level (so far). Still waiting for the IRS "audit" shoe to drop on our grandchild's taxes. Isn't that Olympus' job as well? Duty of care? Professionalism? Client protecton? Timely client responsiveness? And, as for their financial service referrals to independent contractors, referring a client to one of their mortgage lender friends, who pre-approves loans and then ultimately ghosts the client from all communication in the middle of escrow, only to cost the client the home, this is not a financial management firm that is maintaining good clientele relationships or utilizing the services of other 'professionals' who are qualified or competent to manage new business. Documentation, phone calls, texts, and emails all exist, forever. This is an acurate, fact-based review. read more

I had an appointment today. I left without having them perform any services for me. The office doesn't social distance. Staff do not wear masks and customers are not required to wear masks. I asked Nancy (office mgr?) if they were in violation of the Governor's order. She responded that the order "applies to public" locations. When I asked one of the owners, Dave Jr., about not requiring masks he said, "We're not into that bullshit." He then told me the CDC is over-reporting Covid/coronavirus data. He offered to wear a mask while he did my taxes. I left because I don't like the idea of supporting a business that disregards what every public health expert is telling people to do. Also, because he's been letting potentially sick people sit in his waiting room (without wearing masks) and sit in his office while he does their taxes, there was some risk (probably very small, but still some risk) of me getting infected. This isn't about politics. It's about caring enough about other people to protect them from your own germs. Wear a mask! I will no longer do business with Olympus Financial. read more

I worked with Olympus for my 2018 returns. Early in 2020, I received a letter from the IRS saying that I hadn't filed for 2018. I followed up with Olympus multiple times over several months to find out what happened, but they failed to give me an answer despite repeated attempts via phone and email. Eventually I checked my transcripts on the IRS web site, and discovered that they did indeed fail to file the return on my behalf. It's bad enough to fail to file a client's return, but it's quite another to ignore their requests for help to resolve the error afterwards. Avoid at all costs. read more

Been going to David Jr. for three years. We thought all was prepared correctly. But, when we were contacted by IRS that it was done incorrectly we had accrued all these penalties and our attempts to contact him to ask and resolve the problems was never addressed. We called, emailed over and over to speak with David Jr. but the front office brushed us off. We became increasingly worried because of penalties accruing and not understanding what went wrong... We attempted to set up an appointment and they refused to meet with us.. A second IRS letter came and thru much worry and frustration we hired another tax preparer to review and help us resolve the mess we were under. We found out through speaking directly to the IRS that our document was not complete and they took our money but lied to us that all was good and complete. We have the most awful experience with them this year costing us thousands of dollars in IRS penalties! This would have been our second year working with them. First year they were fine. Fast turnaround, someone responsive to calls and emails, and reasonably priced. This year was a total nightmare. I sent them our documents (personal and business) first week of February. They have been incredibly hard to get a hold of the entire time. They would acknowledge receipt or respond to any questions only about 1 out of 5 times. I've spent most of February and March trying to confirm they have everything they need to file our taxes before the deadline. Towards the middle of April I started panicking. I called or emailed consistently trying to get an update on the progress. At one point I was basically yelled at saying "we have everything we need, we are working as fast as we can. we will file on time. STOP calling". At that point I reached out to another accountant and found out the deadline to file for our LLCs was MID MARCH. We had already passed the deadline! Olympus Financial either had no idea what they were doing and was too busy didn't have the audacity to let us know. We trusted them in guiding us and filing our taxes as this is THEIR ONE JOB! Any way.. April 18 deadline came and passed and there is still NOT A SINGLE CALL OR WORD to apologize they missed the deadline despite yelling at me when I was rightfully so concerned about making the deadline. I had the other accountant file an extension on our personal taxes but it was already too late for the LLC. Yesterday I received a letter from the IRS charging us with a $1680 penalty for the LLCs... Completely unbelievable and unacceptable. I would NEVER advise anyone to waste their time with this company. I waited 3 months for them to file for me when I should have been working with another accountant that wouldn't have me panicking on April 18 as well as incurring thousands on penalty fees to the IRS. read more

Terrible customer service. I did my taxes with David Sr. last year and scheduled a telephone appointment for this year. The appointment was schedule a year in advance and was confirmed multiple times. I sent in all my paperwork 3 weeks prior to the appointment, and confirmed they received that as well. Appointment day rolls around and I get no phone call. I call after 10 minutes because I know it's a busy season and I don't want them to pass onto the next client if it turns out I was supposed to call. The receptionist tells me David will call back in 20 minutes. An hour goes by and still no phone call. I call them back and they tell me David just went to dinner and he'll call back in 30 minutes when he returns. An hour goes by and still no phone call. I call them back and they tell me David is with another client and that he'll call me in another 30 min when he's finished. ANOTHER hour goes by and no call. I call them back and they've closed for the day! I spent FOUR hours after my initial appointment time trying to call this guy and not once did someone call to ask me to reschedule or to tell me he's running behind or ANYTHING. I call back the next morning. It's a different receptionist who doesn't know what went wrong because she wasn't there. She apologizes for the frustration and reschedules me for the following week. My new appointment was this morning. 30 minutes after my appointment time, still no call. I call them and they tell me he's with another client, and that he'll call me in 30 minutes. An hour and a half goes by and still no call. Are you kidding me? I call back to cancel when they finally put him on the phone. He is very apologetic and tells me it's an all new staff but that there is no excuse. He gives me a discount and does a great job on my refund. Hopefully next year won't be this frustrating. Update: Another year and another telephone tax appointment. I confirmed the appointment a few days prior. This time I call right at my appointment time, but yet again, he is "finishing up with another client." They tell me he'll call me back in 20 minutes. An hour goes by and still no call. This year I didn't have a whole day to waste waiting around for him so I call back to tell them I have to reschedule because I have to be somewhere. They tell me the next appointment is more than a month away so I tell them "nevermind just cancel it. I'll go somewhere else." Unfortunately, despite how good of an accountant he is, the scheduling and appointments are a joke. I hate to leave a 1 star review, but I'm truly disappointed in this businesses practices. read more

Extremely disappointed in the service. The firm made a mistake and did not scan both pages of W2- there for underreported to the IRS in 2016. The gal scanning made the mistake--you would think its her job to make sure both pages of a got scanned. When I contacted them to fix it Dave is always on vacation, or they are looking into it. This is a father son business with one receptionist, I had been going to "the son" for over 10 yrs, was happy with the tax service, referred numerous people there, thought I'd be going there always, that is until he made a mistake when filing my taxes which caused the IRS to audit me and his mistake cost me over $1500! He assured me he would fix the situation, but didnt. I called him a milion times to see what the status was on the situation being that it had been a year later and I was afraid of the interest charges being sky high. The receptionist was rude, always saying he was busy, I left message after message and never got a responce back for over a month! "The son" avoided me at all cost. When I finally got a hold of him he was EXTREMELY rude! Very unprofessional! Talked down to me, made up lies about my husband, bad mouthed my family and literally made me cry because he was so mean to me. I will never step foot in this unprofessional business again.
