Good;Beautiful place, calm, serene and convenient…read more Bad: property manager (Margaret) is a fluke, had an appt last Saturday to see the apartment I applied, qualified and set deposit for. I showed up to a note on her door saying she was in a meeting. I did not receive a phone call to even inform me she would not be available. Dates of move in kept changing, my boyfriend was trying to make sure I wouldn't get screwed over with my first apartment and Margaret told me he was mean and offensive Bc he called her out on her fluctuating move in dates. The Worst: my boyfriend goes in to get paperwork so I can sign on the dotted line and she gives us the news that the residents have decided not to move and to extend their lease 6months. Could this be why she had a last minute mysterious meeting the day I was scheduled to see the apartment? I believe so but to each it's own. She also leaves such a long vm that my phone cuts her off. Her last vm was what sounded to be an apology but also ended " I don't have anything to lose if you decide to be refunded since I have other clients waiting on apartments". How effing rude. My first apartment has been an epic fail and Margaret did not fulfill her role as property manager successfully due to the lack of professionalism.

The apartment is newer and well- maintained, and overall you get great value for what you pay. While we can't control how other residents act- like leaving dog waste or not using the dumpster properly- management has been fair and responsive. Compare to other options in the area, you either get cheaper but rougher places, or pay significantly more for similar apartments or double for luxury. This place strikes the perfect balance between quality, price, and community. Highly recommended!

A good test of any property is how they treat residents after move-out…read more I moved out in May and didn't receive my full refund until four months later - only after filing in small claims court. Alta tried to charge a $165 "general cleaning fee" that wasn't in my lease, recorded the wrong move-out date (costing me hundreds), and issued multiple incorrect statements. The worst part was the silence from Carly and the team, with long gaps in communication unless I followed up repeatedly. Tips for other tenants: * Carefully review your move-out statement. * Cleaning fees must be clearly stated in your lease. * Request itemized receipts for any cleaning or damage deductions. * Double-check your listed move-out date - it affects your prorated refund. * They are legally required to send your refund and documentation within 30 days. * Read RCW 59.18.280 - it outlines your rights as a Washington tenant. * If needed, contact the Washington State Tenants Union - and don't give up. To Alta/Greystar: During my lease, I felt like a valued resident. Afterward, I felt ignored. I made every effort to resolve this directly but had no choice but to go through the courts. Please don't reply with a generic "We're sorry, contact us" - I did, many times. What started as a series of administrative mistakes ended up feeling like a system designed to wear tenants down and discourage them from recovering what they're owed. Based on this experience, I would be very cautious about renting from any Greystar-managed community.

University Glen - Cozy Fireplaces

We've called University Glen home since 2015, so you know they're doing something right!…read moreEverything you could want in terms of location and apartment amenities is available here! Large windows with wide sills for your favorite plants. Well designed layouts that cleverly give both space and privacy to each unit. So many businesses, parks, the library and other places of interest in walking distance. Police and fire a stone's throw away for a sense of safety. The best school district for your kids and the best city in the area. All of this and more are some of the reasons UG is our choice for home and will continue to be. But at the end of the day, a lot of apartments can be quite nice and have much to offer. So what sets UG apart and above and beyond any competition? Without question, our manager, Janet and our maintenance maestro, Rene. I can't think of a more professional, kind, caring, accessible, authentic person than Janet. She is an absolutely amazing person who brings all her skills, imagination, patience, kindness and humor to her job. She feels like family to me! Rene has shown himself to be the best of the best at his job! He assesses things so quickly and he does the work needed with such skill and perfection. But equally important, he is incredibly personable, a true joy to talk with, and someone who makes me feel valued . He's a great new addition to our community. Thank you to Janet and Rene for being the best at what you do and being here at UG. You make a difference and you matter to all of us who live here! To anyone debating about moving here, I urge you to stop in and take a tour. Meet Janet and Rene. The decision to move here will be an easy one!

Madrona Estates Townhomes - the ONLY wall that justifies a full repainting

Madrona Estates Townhomes

I lived in this apartment for just under 5 months and was charged for 5 gallons of paint and 6…read morehours of labor during move-out -- including charges to repaint both upstairs bedrooms, which I never painted or placed anything on the walls in. I asked for photo documentation and was told that all photos taken at move-out had already been provided. However, none of the photos I received show any damage in either upstairs bedroom. If those were the only photos taken and no documentation exists showing damage in those rooms, then the charges should not stand. As it is, I was billed for work that has no photographic or documented justification. There were a few holes downstairs where items had been mounted, but they were properly patched before move-out. At most, those areas would've needed basic spot painting -- certainly not a full repaint. And considering that 5 gallons of paint is enough to cover an entire 1,200 sq ft apartment, the charge seems excessive and more reflective of routine turnover than tenant-caused damage. Communication was another constant frustration. Jessica, the property manager, was consistently difficult to get in touch with. I always had to follow up first, and it often took days to get a response. Whenever I called, she would say something like, "I was just about to reach out," which felt disingenuous. After I asked about the move-out charges, she abruptly stopped communicating and referred me to someone outside the on-site team with no explanation -- just more deflection and lack of accountability. The entire process felt unprofessional and unfair. If you're planning to rent here, take thorough photos, save all correspondence, and be prepared to push back on vague or inflated charges. Once, they gave us notice that they were doing electrical work but didn't say how long it would take. My power was out all day. I got different time frames from management and the contractors. When I moved out recently, it took them 2 months to send me my deposit. They withheld almost $500 for "blind cleaning" and "unit cleaning." I have never had my deposit witheld (I've moved around a lot as a travel nurse the last few years). When I asked, the temp office manager said "almost everyone gets the $285 unit cleaning fee." The place was spotless when we did our walkthrough and the employee who did it with me did not inform me of any of these issues.
