He attempted to defend a 35% in crease in a homeowner premium after a single claim (we have had Allstate for more than 20 years) inferring that the state Insurance Commission mandated this increase when in fact the Commission simply approves of the rates Allsate submits, then holds Allstate to those rates. After having had our house burglarized, we felt robbed again. Although Allstate can legally gouge customers, this corporation's practices are highly unethical.

Most were really mules. Fate led me through Brent's door and I was thinking "well here goes another one" After chatting for an hour I turned over 1/2 my portfolio to his management. After three months I was pleased enough to consider moving the other half over. So on a late December Monday morning I showed up at Brent's office. As we talked about the recent snow storm he started telling me how much fun he had pulling people from the ditch. He had spent the weekend helping people in his extended neighborhood who had slipped off the road. His selflessness (a trait not found before in a financial advisor) sold me on trusting him. Brent is part of a pair. Karen manages the office, interfaces with the banks. Together they are like Batman and Robin. Over the years they have both become friends and my wife and I love them like family. These two helped my wife and I get our farm in Idaho which would not have happened had it not been for their tutorship in the process. Poor Karen has to deal with my wife and I not being tech savvy. But she slaps the ol' training wheels on us and guides us through all the hoops like a parent teaching a kid to ride a tricycle. Seems the paperwork keeps getting worse and more convoluted si Karen is a real treasure. Brent has become a friend so one little fact no one knows is he gets up at three in the morning to start tracking stocks and doing his research. Hell I am an avid fisherman and I don't get up that early. As an old retired artist who works in watercolors. At 75 my eyes are going so I don't paint anymore but I do one painting a year now for their office. I don't do any paintings for my family just one a year for Brent and Karen's office. That is how much I respect them and how much they have helped me. We have been with American Family insurance for a few years and insure four vehicles, a house and…read morethree boats. On September 13 our boat sank at the marina and we immediately contacted American Family. We reported the sinking and then attempted to contact our local agent Tim Lopez, Gig Harbor, WA but American Family forbade him to talk to us. The boat remained underwater for over a week before a salvage company was available to raise her. American Family has refused to cover any expense during the salvage operation or to mitigate any environmental damage or help protect the vessel from further damage. Why? Because they want to collect premiums, not pay out on claims. Approximately, two weeks after losing the boat we received four like form letters that identified the claim and offered to replace our child restraint seat, totally clueless concerning insuring a yacht. We had to burden the cost of raising the boat, some $24,000 and counting. The USCG issued us a warning letter about diesel fuel in the water and the Department of Ecology is concern about the environmental consequences. In the meantime American Family has not done anything to help us and is looking for a way to deny the claim. Ironically, three weeks after losing the boat they assigned a Claims Investigator/Marine Surveyor to inspect the boat on October 6th, timely? He offered no explanation for the boat sinking but agreed they was nothing we did to cause the accident. After one month and counting we received no response from American Family. We have secured an attorney and filed a complaint with the Washington State Insurance Commission who gave them until November 6th to respond. Do not insure your boat with this company because they are incompetent when it comes to marine claims and the many issues involved with the USCG and Department of Ecology.
