Oh, what a beautiful and spacious area - I only wish that we had more time to spend at Olympiapark to see more of it. We had enjoyed a museumm across the street and decided to walk across it to Olympiapark and take a look, because the idea of walking around a place where the Olympics occurred sounded wonderful. We were trying to do as much as we could in Munich with the little time we had. We were not disappointed in what we saw - only that we didn't have time to see all of it! There was an event going on, so the place was very lively. Lots of people, at first. But as you walked through, the people lessened, and it got quieter. There were a lot of runners/joggers - and I could imagine that this is a phenomenal place to do that. I also imagine that this park would be absolutely great for picnics when the weather is nicer. I would definitely return and see more as I know that there is so much more Olympiapark has to offer.

Sunset pano from on top of Olympiapark hill at the monument

Olympiapark in Munich was a last minute stop on our way back from a day trip Regansberg. We wanted to check out the sunset on top of Olympiaberg Hill. We luckily pulled into the parking garage located right off of Lerchenauer Straße just across the highway from the BMW headquarters. We quickly made our to get up to Olympiaberg monument on olympiapark hill. It was a brisk walk since we maybe had 15 too 20 minutes tO catch the sunset. While making our way through the grounds and up to the top the grounds are spectacularly maintained. As we crested our way for the top we made it just in time and the views from up top are tremendous. Not only was the sunset amazing seeing the olympiapark from this vantage point were breathtaking! Once the glamor of the sunset tamed itself we walk the grounds a bit to take check the different areas of the park while it was twilight. Truly amazing even after all these year. I would recommend a trip to take the Sunset or sunrise in.

Germany hosted the Olympics in 1972. I always find it interesting to visit old Olympic parks so we made a point to stop by. These areas held so much pride, honor and excitement. Dreams were made along with tons of money. What's left is a mixture of dying buildings and history worth remembering. So many of the gaming structures are not needed anymore and for some the massive area becomes a strain for the city to maintain. Some old parks sell off some of the structures and others let things go to ruins. I thought that it was nice that a private school in my area purchased the pool that was built for the Olympic games in Atlanta. It would be nice to see more items repurposed. Thankfully Munich turned the area into a lovely multipurpose recreation center that is well used and loved. On the day that we visited a music festival and old time carnival was going on. We had loads of fun exploring the area and enjoying the festivities.

A beautiful architectural masterpiece. Very much worth walking around the grounds to take it all in, even more so when seen from the lookout above.

This is a beautiful park. It's so easy to get here by train and it's easy to get around. We didn't even get through all the park because it was a pretty gloomy rainy day when we went. I really wish we got to the roof climb of the stadium (http://www.olympiapark.de/en/home/tours-sightseeing/guided-tours/) or at least get to walk into the stadium. We did walk around the swimming pool and could look in on it from the top level and see some people doing lap swim. Overall its a great place to stretch your legs and of course, there is a beer garden. Where in Munich is there not? Conveniently, we went to the BMW Museum right after our stroll.

The most lovely place to be during the summers. It's a huge, beautiful park with a small lake in the centre and the sunset view point at the top of a hill. Amazing place for a day picnic with family and friends. It also has the Olympic Stadion, open to visitors for a small fee, a theme park for kids and the Olympiahalle where concerts are held.

Take a wandering stroll into Olympiapark or make several laps running through, the park is large and can be shared with both runners, cyclists and strollers. Perfect for a light picnic on the fields or watch dogs play amongst each other, I would not miss the park since the Olympiapark was constructed for the summer 1972 Olympics. Quite grandeur and still magnificent as it stands, its quite a beauty. The park houses a pond with swans and ducks floating, and small little huts and biergartens to enjoy after a little walk in the park x

Great tennis courts in the Olympiapark. Played my first game here since arriving in Europe almost two years ago and loved the place. Clay courts that are well maintained and in great condition. Nice little biergarten and change facilities next to the courts and easy to book and play. There are heaps of courts and they all look well kept and maintained. It is about the third time I have played on clay courts and must admit this was the best one by far. In Australia most of the courts are turf or grass and it is hard to find clay courts and as a result the ones you find are also poorly maintained. This place however is really well maintained and there was no sign of holes in the court and it was a pleasure to play my first game in Europe in such wonderful surroundings :-) Will definitely come back here regularly. Must try the tennis coaches and see what they are like soon :-) Need a few lessons after not having played for almost two years ;-))

The site of the 1972 Olympics the park is still in use today. It was amazing to see this place so much history here after reading about all that transpired. The view from the top of the tower is the best I've ever seen! It was somewhat rainy the day I was here however it made a lasting impression. IF you come to Munich please stop by the park, you can get to it easily off the metro. A must see! Cheers

Amazing views of the cityscape can be seen on top of the hills surrounding the Olympiasee. Also a great place to go on New Years.

Wow, what a pleasant surprise…read more This place isn't much to look at, but we had a terrific experience with a two year old and a four year old. The park consists of mostly three types of attractions: smaller scale theme park rides, playground type structures and animatronic storytelling scenes. So much to share, so I'm just going to bullet point it, otherwise I'm going to go off on tangents everywhere: - we went on a Wednesday morning/afternoon and it was nearly empty. Probably 30-40 people max, including the kids. We kept running into the same people all over the park. - the cafe closes early, around 2-3, so eat early. - entrance closes at 4, but you can stay later, though I'm not sure how much later. - may be different when the park is busier, but not all of the rides are constantly running. There will be posted signs of when the next ride is scheduled. For instance, the next roller coaster ride may be at 2:15, while the next time you can ride the train is 2:30. - again, this may only be on slower days, but the staff is pretty small. So, the guy who runs the train, may also be responsible for the teacup ride. It's pretty funny. He'll run the train for 10-15 minutes, then you'll see him shut up shop on that ride, then head over to operate the next ride. - some of the rides are do-it-yourself. You hop on, strap yourself in (if necessary), then press the start button. This includes some pretty elaborate rides that flip you upside down and swing you back and forth pretty wildly. Sadly, this could never work in the US, because too many people would feign injury and sue the park. When we first walked in and I saw a playground to my left, i had my doubts. But turned out to be a thoroughly enjoyable experience. I highly recommend. Definitely worth the 12-13 euros.

We stumbled across this park on our way to Oberammagau and decided to visit it on the way back…read morethrough. Our visit to Skyline Park marked our fifth visit to an amusement park in Germany (Legoland, Tripsdrill, Europa Park, and Schwaben Park being the other four). The park is fairly expansive and it seems like they are adding new rides, as there was some construction happening when we were there (July 2015). Skyline Park had some good rides and some original ones we haven't seen before. They had a Tarzan swing, which puts any zipline to shame. There was a boat ride which literally launches you off a ramp, then pulls you back on the ramp. My only issues with the park seemed to be the maintenance of the rides. We went in July, which should be peak season for the park. However, there were more than a few rides that were down for maintenance for half of the day and the rides that were working seemed to be in need of a mechanical and aesthetic overhaul. Overall, the park was a great way to spend a Friday afternoon, however, if given the choice, I would go with Trispdrill or Europa Park.
