It's a beautiful hike filled with dense forest and streams. It's a fairly easy hike, well kept, with stairs at most of the steep paths, very narrow at spots and a lot of poison oak/Ivy off the sides of the path. Located on the Bartholomew Winery, a private park with hours from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM when the main gate gets locked (big sign). There is plenty of free parking. My friend and I walked the trail around 1:30 PM. on a Wednesday. We only saw one other hiker the whole time, so nice, so peaceful, we had the whole forest to ourselves. LOL there was a warning sign for Mountain Lions, we did not see or hear anything, only the birds and the stream. I would definitely recommend this trail and I would come back to walk it again.

It's amazing how this former busy train depot is now a placid park. The depot has been transformed into a cool little museum with creepy mannequins about area history. Depot Park was dilapidated when I first moved to the Wine Country about a decade ago, and luckily it's been cleaned up. It's far more pleasant. It used to be a nasty, sketchy place, but now it's an oasis.

I came here today as part of my birthday Sonoma Tour and it was really fun. Really charming cute…read moregardens spread out over acres and tons of pretty Zinnias and other old fashioned flowers. Lots and lots of tomato plants and sunflower plants. Lots of bees. As soon as you get there, there's a small red barn. We went straight to the barn and picked up some garden vegetables, Chinese long purple beans for 3 dollars and two eggplants and one green apple. A volunteer weighs the produce and you pay with a credit card. They had some zinnias and sunflowers for sale but an older woman got there upon opening and bought two buckets of it for 62 dollars and there were no more flowers to buy. I was there for an hour admiring the flowers and different varieties of gourds and vegetables growing. You can rent a private plot for 200 dollars and lots of elderly people were tending to their plants happily and chatted with us as we walked around. A lovely community garden beloved by the old and young. Definitely recommend a trip here and especially on Saturdays when you can get some super fresh garden produce. Cute place.

Cool trail I found just above the main town square of Sonoma. Like less than a half mile going…read moretowards the hills. I actually found where to park from now on if trying to roam this touristy part of town, instead of trying to find a space near the park and all the retail businesses. Much more room back there without the traffic due to parking sharks stalling traffic. This is pretty much an up and back so not a loop. It goes about a little over a mile up in a gradual fashion about 600 feet in elevation gain. Nothing strenuous but will get your cardio revving. About 50/50 shade/sun ratio but once up top it is all exposed. Up top there is a great view of the valley below. It is worth the trek. Went on a Sunday afternoon and it was pretty popular. Probably saw over 30 peeps either coming or going. I bet it is much more relaxed on the weekdays, which will be my next op. Trust. Great workout, picturesque views, clean air, and lots of entertainment just minutes below this trailhead. So glad I found this, only took me 20 years of visiting this town to find it. As they say 'better late than never'.

Instead of entering the trailhead parking entrance, I entered through the sleek veterans memorial and entered the meandering cemetery way. The more higher one got, the more historical it got. Follow the arrows to continue to the trailhead. No I returned where the arrows lead you back and then continued up and right. What another beautiful hike and view passing even older markers. I enjoyed this part the best. I will definitely want to visit and admire the history of it's families, again.

Then comeback for 1 mile loop. This way nothing is missed and don't go in circle. Mile 5 is a little tricky but all is great. The staff was super helpful too as I was I initially planning to only do the mile loop to see the spirit guides. He made those view sounds great, and they were on the outskirts. Its a…read morenice little hike with some pretty vantage points, but there are many nearby regional parks that are just as lovely for parking fee only. It would be better if they just charged $5 for parking. We noticed lots of people parking and just going up the hiking path and not paying. I guess we were suckers. Paying is not worth it, but if you dont pay, its a bargain. Its worth a parking fee but not a per person entry fee.

Jack London's gravesite and ruins of Wolf House. We came for the abandoned house and were very…read moreimpressed by the scale and size, Jack London must have been very wealthy for the time to have a house like this. The sad thing is it burned down right before completion so they never got to live in the house. The use of stones and rock kept a lot of the walls despite the fire and it reminds me of of an oversized version of a Greene and Greene style Craftsman Bungalow I saw in Pasadena, CA. If you are a fan of abandoned places you will like coming here. It's fenced off for safety so you can't go running around the structures but you can do a full 360 walk around and there is a platform you can walk on that's about in the middle of the house and you get a good view of the pool and different floors from here. The hike from the parking lot to the museum and to the grave sites and house are easy, my senior parents and young kids were able to do it easily. I would stop by the museum on the way back, there are some nice artifacts from Jack London as well as a scale model of what the hosue was supposed to look like.

They have a large fenced-in play area with lots of picnic benches, chairs and water provided! Although there weren't other dogs that day, Midnight still had a lot of fun running unleashed, back and forth to mommy and daddy! I loved looking at the bright orange poppies and other flowers as we explored, as well as the nice bridge in the distance! I would recommend visiting this regional park and we'll be returning to explore more! Stumbled upon this incredible FREE historic park in the heart of Sonoma. I was on vacation with the…read moreladies in my family here and we were walking around down by the Square of Sonoma and walked upon this spot. First of all, I love that this is a free attraction. So incredibly amazing. At first, I thought it was just the open area with some old buildings and a few signs that explained a little bit about the history. But as we continued walking down the street, we realized it was a lot more to see! There's a hotel you can look in and see how it was setup back in the day (1800s/early 1900s) which was so cool. They also had artifacts enclosed that you could look at as well. They even had a room where you could watch a movie playing that told more about the history of Sonoma. It was seriously such a cool experience and I honestly don't want to give too much away. A good experience even for kids to run around and see. Definitely think it's worth stopping to enjoy and love that it's free to the public!
