My wife and I recently relocated back to Northern CA after 18 years in Los Angeles, and we brought…read morewith us a difficult tax situation. We tried for 2 months to find a CPA that would do something really important: put us at ease and instill confidence that our tax return would be in good hands. We were just about to give up and file for an extension when a coworker recommended Summer Morris. I called her immediately, and upon talking to her I instantly knew that we had found that CPA. She was extremely professional, and her wealth of knowledge and experience was obvious. We set up a time on the spot and she gave us access to a secure portal where we could upload all of our documents in advance of our meeting. I really prefer that method, and it made our meeting go quickly and efficiently. In person, she is extremely pleasant to work with. She addressed any questions we had and did some rough calculations on the spot to estimate our tax liability...which put my wife and I very much at ease. On our short drive home, she had already emailed us some additional thoughts about our taxes; a rare level of service to get during tax season. Any time that I contacted her she immediately responded, regardless of whether or not it was outside of business hours. When we got our final return back from her, everything was absolutely perfect. I looked at every detail and could not find any errors whatsoever. There were many different forms and additional work done to lower our tax liability that I would never thought of or known about. Her knowledge and experience saved us a significant amount of money. We used a CPA team back in Los Angeles for many years, whom we were happy with at the time. After having just worked with Summer Morris, I realize now that our old CPA was not so great after all. It was a real pleasure to work with her, and the whole process was so easy, affordable and worry free. We were lucky to have found Summer, and will be going back to her every year from now on, no doubt about that.

We wanted to find someone in Sonoma County and are only up there on the weekends. Randy not only met us on the weekend, but offered to come to us (about an hours drive). We had just got married and were confused about how that changed our tax preparation and how we should file. Randy explored both filing options and gave us the best option. He did our taxes for a few years…read moreand, not paying much attention (busy professionals as we are), we later found out that many of the deductions we should have been taking were not being applied to our taxes. This year we spoke with several other CPAs, all of whom confirmed this for us. We decided to pay a second CPA to prepare our taxes this year after asking Randy if he could apply the deductions for us. Although the cost of paying two CPAs was not insignificant, our savings still exceeded the added expense. Nevertheless, Randy was surprisingly angry and rude when we gently told him we would be using a different tax preparer. Later, his online payment system went down. He notified us that we would have to pay him with a paper check this year. And so we wrote and mailed the check to him. Very shortly thereafter, apparently not having received the check, Randy went straight to threatening us with small claims court over the "late payment". In our process of asking around about tax advice we heard from a number of people that they too had either directly or indirectly found Randy to be angry, vindictive, and to have been inflexible with their tax preparation. Ordinarily, we would not wish to spread negative vibes on the internet, but having received numerous threatening communications from someone we have paid to do work we ended up not using, we felt we should caution others in our community.
