Alvarez Organic Farms

I would give it a negative one if I can. The vendor is very mean and violates the law. He tried to…read moreforce me to pay him more than what I owe, and when I displayed reluctance, he retaliated by banning me from doing business with Alvarez Organic Farm in front of all customers. On August 27, 2026, I went to the lake city farmers market located at 12501 28th Ave NE, Seattle, WA 98125. Alvarez Organic Farm has a stand in this market. I tried to purchase four zucchinis and four corns from the vendor at Alvarez Organic Farm stand. The vendor told me it will cost 12.70. Customarily vendors at farmers will round off the $70 cents. So I asked the vendor at Alvarez Organic Farm stand if he will sell me the merchandize for $12. He said "No. $12.70." Since I already paid him $12 dollars in fresh bucks vouchers, he told me to pay him 70 cents in cash. I told him "Why don't I give you back one corn." One corn costs $1.50 so I asked him to give me something in return because $1.50 is greater than $70 cents. He said "No! You want to argue! Take your $12 dollars and go away. I do not want to do business with you" in front of all the other customers. I think it is not the 70 cents. Customarily vendors at farmers markets round off any amounts if it is less than one dollar. In my past 15 years of experience in going to farmer's markets in Seattle, I never ran into and vendor who refuse to round off 70 cents. I think the vendor at Alvarez Organic Farm stand just want to make me an example. He wanted to force me to pay more than what I owe, and when I displayed reluctance, he punished me by denying me business. He wanted to humiliate me in front of all other customers so every one else will learn from my example. Legally, a vendor cannot force a customer to pay more than what they owe, and the vendor cannot retaliate by denying the customer business if the customer refuse to pay more than he/she owes. What this vendor at the Alvarez Organic Farm stand did to me today can be the tip of iceberg. Since he did such an act to me, he can do it to other customers as well. I want to warn all other customers about Alvarez Organic Farm vendor's spirit. By the way, their produce is not that fresh compared to other organic farms. Alvarez Organic Farm sells produce that look liked they have stored it for a week, not the fresh produce just picked.
