Later on in the week and after work, I met with a group of people and we discuss what happened, what we bought, if we enjoyed it or not, if we would return, and if any improvements needed to be made with a moderator. The session is video-recorded and we're being viewed from a one-way mirror. The discussion lasted about an hour and a half, we were paid afterwards and we could leave. Although I was referred to Lucimar Musch, my tax return was assigned to her husband, Michael Musch. I mentioned that I was not comfortable with that arrangement because my referral was based on Lucimar's work. However, I was assured that everything would be handled properly. I provided all the documents requested for my 2022 tax return. Unfortunately, the sale of a property from that year was not reported on the return that was prepared. Because of this, I later received a notice from the IRS asking for corrections. When I returned to the office to resolve the issue, the problem was not properly corrected. Eventually, I received another IRS letter stating that I owed approximately $235,000 in taxes, penalties, and fees, which created an incredibly stressful situation. During this time, communication with the office became very difficult. Calls and emails were not consistently returned, and I felt that I was left without the professional support that a client expects when dealing with a serious IRS matter. After many months of stress, I hired an independent CPA who reviewed everything carefully, corrected the tax return, and resolved the issue with the IRS. The entire situation lasted close to a year and caused significant emotional stress. I am sharing my experience so that others can make informed decision hefore choosing a tax professional.
