For Christmas break, our fam' road-tripped from Buffalo NY down to Bridgeport WV to go somewhere we…read morehad not been before ... and darling Bridgeport did not disappoint! Market on Main is an adorable boutique that showcases dozens of local artisans and their wares. From apparel, to greeting cards, to seasonal holiday gifts, to WV souvenirs, to wall art, to jewelry, to decorative pieces, to unique gifts, to even a small area of locally produced groceries, this shop has a lot to offer. My teen daughter and I had a splendid time perusing all of the high quality items. Had I won the Mega-Millions the night before, I would have cleaned them out! But alas we had to keep it more reasonable. Both my daughter and I purchased a few sweet and funny greeting cards designed by a local artist, as we both New-Year's-resolved to mail more hand-written notes to friends and family. I also purchased a lovely handmade ornament with a Tarot card design. We each spent under $30 and walked out with a few nice gifts. We didn't have time to go upstairs, but apparently there are two additional vendors on the second floor, a record shop, and another boutique. The building it is all housed in seems like a historic repurposed house or maybe a church, which I also loved. Such a great way to get a second life out of a still solid structure! Market on Main is right across the street from Almost Heaven Bakery, and close to a few public parking lots nearby. So grab a free spot, shop at Market on Main, and cap it off with a sweet treat at AHB, a truly lovely way to spend an afternoon in quaint Bridgeport.

At age 9, and yes I felt guilty that I never took him before! He was immediately enthralled with it. I explained to him that this store and Books-a-Million was always a weekly trip for his daddy and Aunt Nay-Nay Noel Lori-Elizabeth Teel growing up!! It was always one of their favorite stores to shop! He took my hand as we entered because he didn't know what to expect. When we went in, he whispered "Maw Maw, is this a Library?" I said " No Baby, we can buy these books not borrow them!" He said "Do I have to be Quiet here, like the Library?" I said "No Sweetir, you can talk and laugh like Normal"...he said "I Love it".. We looked at all the books and stuffies (he loves them both) he had me take pics of everything he wants for his upcoming Birthday in October and Christmas !! I'm gonna have Kayla Beth Fields put some of these items on his wishlist and even gift cards here would be a great gift for him!! Deacon loves to read! He loves Diary of a Whimpy Kid Series, Dogman Series, Captain Underpants Series and DORK Series! Plus any stuffie related to them. He got on the storyline stage and played with the puppets. He put on his own very short puppet show. I would like to take him and Calliope some saturday at 2pm for a puppet show! He picked out a book for himself, one for Calliope and one for Saige! He left with a big smile wants to go back again (which I highly encourage) and can't wait to show his mommy Kayla the wonderful new store maw maw took him too!!

As far as Barnes & Noble Booksellers go, it's pretty much your run of the mill location,…read moretruthfully. The bonus side to this location is that they have plenty of staff working around the location to make sure you're getting what you need or assisting you when you can't find that book you were looking for. This location has a coffee shop located on the right-hand side of the bookstore and has a few tables for you to sit and hopefully not read the entire book before putting it back on the shelf... Anyway, the café was clean. I did try to go over there but the line was long and not moving fast and I was feeling impatient so I decided not to get anything. In the back of the store is where you'll find your movies, cds, and vinyl. I was pretty impressed with the selection of new vinyl they had in the store. I'm always shocked though at the prices of their DVD's and CD's knowing how cheaply they can be purchased elsewhere. The rest of the store was neatly organized in the traditional B&N fashion. Everything listed at the top of the bookshelves making it easy for you to find what you were looking for or maybe you'll stumble upon a book you never knew you needed. Either way, this location will suit you just fine.
