I hadn't noticed previously but there was a restaurant right by my hostel called Olive's Crib. It's right by the popular local bakery.
I dropped in on a Thursday evening (around 9:00pm). There were only a couple tables occupied. There's a bunch of pet cats roaming around and randomly, country music playing in the background.
The menu is up on the chalkboard by the counter; sizzler plates, main dishes, pasta, salad, pizza and d(r)inks.
- Stingray with coconut milk (250 PHP) - I added garlic rice (20 PHP), which is always worth it in my books. Good flavour but a tad small portion wise. The stingray was excellently cooked and there was SO much of it (too much even). I would have preferred more green beans. Sauce was creamy and rich but too heavy. Eating a whole plate was difficult.
I'd definitely come back to try OC's other seafood dishes (grilled squid was my second choice). Good find, slightly hidden as it's off the main pathway. read more
