Took the downtown trolley the day I arrived because I didn't want to waste time but was busy at the same time. It was a 30 min drive but it was extremely fun. We chose the trolley for its old fashioned charm and a more open view, over taking another popular tour by bus given by a different company. I booked a 2.5-hour tour for my family during our cruise stop - the boarding location was super convenient (55 West St.), right by the tendor port at Town Pier, and the check-in process was organized and a breeze. This tour includes 15-minute stops at three of the most popular sites in the park: Thunder Hole, Jordan Pond, and top of Cadillac Mountain. The stops are too brief for anything other than a quick walk-through to take some photos, but that was enough for my sight-seeing family. The park is huge so most of the time is spent driving and taking in the occasional breathtaking views along the coastline. The first time I visited this park (a much more thorough and extensive, multi-day trip where we camped inside the park and hiked all the most difficult trails that rewarded us with the most stunning views), the majesty of the landscape continuously awed me. There were fewer such moments on the tour due to the route and time crunch, but we were entertained by the excellent narration and stories about the park and the town by our driver Jim, a very knowledgeable local who's quippy to boot. They also offer a 4-hour tour that includes an extra site (Sieur de Monts Spring), with 30-minute stops at each location instead of 15, and is for age 12+ only. If you want to see Acadia park but are limited on time, don't have a car, don't want to deal with the logistics of planning a park itinerary, are mobility-challenged or don't wish to walk/hike too much, or simply like to enjoy the ride and casually explore the park while listening to some informative stories, I heartily recommend Oli's Trolley for your excursion! They're very professional and well run. Be sure to also check out their excellent gift shop nearby (1 West St.) which has a cute and well-curated selection of merchandise that are reasonably priced. As promised we did get a tour of Acadia and did not have to circle around for parking like those who drove themselves. We didn't find the tour guide to be the most entertaining to listen to. We enjoyed getting to see the sights, but felt very rushed and did not get to walk around very much. This is a good option for those who do not have a car on the island or have a very limited amount of time to see the park. We found ourselves wishing we had more time at the stops. It also got very hot on the trolley when we were waiting for those who were late or stuck sitting in traffic. We did not feel like the experience justified the price. Overall, we did get to see the high points of the park, just wished we had more time at the stops and a more engaging guide. read more

We had one day in Maine and since we didn't have enough time to go whale watching, we decided to book a trolley tour of Acadia National Park. We saw the signs and ticket booth just yards from where our cruise ship docked. We decided to book a 2.5 hour tour that goes into the park with 3 photo stops including Cadillac Mountain. It was $58 each. We literally paid for our tickets and were sitting on the trolley 5 minutes later. The tour is fully narrated and our guide was so knowledgeable! He grew up in the area and seemed to know everything about it . (He also knew many of the regulars driving or walking past us.). There were 3 stops for amazing, breathtakingly beautiful photos. You are warned that it's 15 minutes per stop so the trolley stays on schedule. We went all the way up to Cadillac Mountain and our guide was giving us facts about the park, the area, and its residents the entire time. If you have just 1 or 2 days in Bar Harbour I would definitely recommend taking an Oli's Trolley tour. It was enjoyable, informative, snd convenient. read more

We decided that it would a good idea to take a kind of tour of Acadia as a way to see all the sites with a short timeline. I think we chose well. Our tour was great - we learned a lot about the area and the park. I love history, so we got a great history lesson from Fred W, our awesome tour guide. A couple of things to know: -The one thing I did not like is that the tour left at 3:30 and at roughly 3:10, we received a phone call asking if we were coming still. That was pretty annoying to me. We know what time the thing leaves and we are planning to be there on time. But apparently, they really want you to show up early. -The benches are wood, so just something to know if you have a bad back etc. -Generally speaking you get 15 minutes at each of the three spots that you stop so you ether have to hit the bathroom or gift shop OR go see the thing. You don't have time for both really. -Questions are encouraged! You'll get more out of it if you pay attention and ask questions along the way. read more

It was a great way to see the downtown area. My friend isn't great walking in the heat so we did the tour to check things out. It was actually so fun! You get to sit in the shade and learn the history of what's around you. We are going to come back and do the longer park tours, because we had such a nice time. Best decision we made for our coastal trip through Maine was taking this tour through Acadia National Park. Our tour guide, James G, was so great! He knows everything about Bar Harbor and the surrounding area. We were never bored and just loved the entire trip. The amount of knowledge we got on this trip, we never could have received doing it on our own. Now, I feel like we can go back and check out places that we want to see a little longer. Jordan's Pond and Bubbles was awesome, and we are going back for tea and pop-overs (I think that is what you call it....lol). Also, the trolly is really nice and clean, with great sound. There are several options for guided tours of Acadia National Park, but we waited until the morning to make a reservation and we were lucky to nab the last two seats on Oli's Trolley. We were fortunate to have Gloria as our bus driver/tour guide. She was entertaining and a delightful speaker. We learned about the fascinating back story of the park, those who advocated for this National Park, the workers brought from Italy to make it happen, and other fascinating tidbits about the wild life and natural surroundings. We stopped at four key spots in a 2 1/2 hour tour. I would have preferred staying longer at each stop and, one other tour did offer that, but we saw a lot and learned everything we needed. It was a great introduction to Acadia and when we return one day, we'll plan ahead better and invest more time in exploring! read more

Gayle, Erin, Jim, and I were on a Norwegian "Fall Colors" tour and one of the day excursions found us in Bar Harbor and on Oli's Trolley for a partial tour of Acadia National Park. These tours only scratch the surface and in Acadia's case, the carriage trails, sunset/sunrise on Cadillac Mountain, and other parts of Mt. Desert Island will have to wait for a longer visit. We took the 4-hour Acadia National Park Tour. This tour hit a lot of high points including: Rich history of the area. Spectacular scenery (e.g. Paradise Hill, Frenchman Bay, Cadallac Mt.) Various Sights: Jordan Pond, Thunder Hole, Sand Beach, Otter Cliffs, etc The trolley was comfortable, the tour guide was knowledgeable and fun, and staff support was professional and Down East friendly. A must when visiting Bar Harbor! Everything about Oli's is top notch. Ordering our tours was super easy online. Friendly reminders via email were so helpful. We arrived for our first tour super early as we wanted to secure a parking spot (not easy to do in Bar Harbor) and the woman at the Trolley was so kind and make a suggestion to us for how to spend the time before boarding. Our amazing tour guide and driver, Jim, was super personable and interesting, and even helped us find blueberries and took several pictures of my husband and I with the beautiful backdrops of Cadillac Mountain and Jordan's Pond. We had a great bunch on the tour, and can say that this tour was the highlight of our trip. Jim even recommended a great place to eat, and it was so good, we went back again for dinner! But the icing on the cake was again customer service. We booked a second tour for the next day, and woke up to crummy weather, so we decided to head home and skip our tour. As we had passed the cancellation policy time of 24 hours notice, I did not request my money back, but did call and leave a message to let them know we would not be attending, so they wouldn't wait for us. Imaging my surprise when I looked in my email to find they had refunded my money! We would (and will) be touring with them again, and highly recommend them to anyone. read more

Stopped at bar harbour for a couple of hours on our road trip. We were looking for some tours to visit the national park and for sightseeing. A lot of the tours were sold out already, and we were told to go to Oli's Trolley. The lady at the counter was quite friendly and provided us with lots of info on the tours. Unfortunately a lot of their tours were sold out already and other tours were too long, which we could not take because we were on a time limit. We got the one hour tour to Cadillac mountain, which cost 25$ per person. The driver/tour guide gives you a guided tour on the way up the mountain which includes history about bar harbour, info about the area (ie lots of igneous rock and bar harbour is famous for blueberries). It was a 20 min drive up to the mountain, 15 minute stop to look around and 20 min drive down the mountain. One issue I had is the trolley was not air conditioned and very hot. Overall staff were pretty nice. We got a better deal buying directly from the office as opposed to buying it through an agency. read more

My family and I took a Trolley Tour during a port visit to Bar Harbor, ME from our cruise ship. We didn't have a lot of time but knew we couldn't stop in ME without checking out Acadia National Park and the Cadillac Mountain. We were very lucky to snag a tour that was for one hour so we wouldn't miss our tender time back to the cruise ship. Jim, was the best tour guide and driver. He was knowledgeable of the history and charm of the town and provided an insightful tour. Talked about the neighborhood and history as we ventured up to the mountain top. He shared stories of his biking days as well. He drove safely as the weather was starting to change on our way down the mountain. Big Trolley and small/narrow roads. He was very courteous to other drivers on the road as well as his mannerisms throughout the tour. He was punctual and was patient - careful not to leave anyone on the mountain as we had two tourists that didn't return on time. We waited an extra ten minutes and they luckily showed up. He said he's never left people on the mountain and had started to make calls and contact the park folks on what to do next. He was organized and patient. This was a very nice tour of the mountain, too bad I didn't have more time. If I did, I would've picked the longer tour (1.5 hours to 2 hours). Trolley was comfortable to ride and the attendants selling the tickets were very nice as well. I recommend Oli's for sure. read more

We did the 2.5 hour tour of Acadia National Park. The tour is conveniently located if you are coming off a cruise. The park is beautiful and the this is a good way to see the park quickly. The stops are a bit rushed, but enough time to take some good pics. You will be called out if you are even a minute late back on the trolly. Our guide Nancy was very knowledgable but also a bit rude. We had kids/families with us and we were told to stop talking (in a not so nice way) as soon as the tour began. The tour is narrated the ENTIRE time you are on the trolly. Some facts were interesting and many others tedious and unnecessary. I literally saw about 3 people asleep 15 minutes into the ride. If you have kids with you and want to talk and enjoy the ride, this is not be the best choice for you. This a tour for people who want to sit quietly and just listen. On a very busy summer day at Acadia, the. 4 hour tour gave us adequate time at the most popular places without the nightmare of parking. Loved the time at the stops. However, for my taste, the tour guide spoke too quickly and never paused his rapid narration, making the ride feel unending. Instead of sharing highlights and a few interesting facts, he tried to cram in everything he knew, often interrupting himself to switch to a new story or comment that he had to speed up because he had more to say. Overall, if you're looking for a tour that will hit the highlights and help you avoid the parking mess, this is a very good choice. Our guide was really nice, and obviously loves the area which is great. When we got there I was impressed with the fact that there was hand sanitizer, and plexiglass between you and the person who gave you the ticket, etc. And honestly it's not a huge deal, but I was disappointed that Covid guidelines were not elucidated and certainly not encouraged, unless I missed it. For example. Most people came onto the trolley wearing a mask, which helps you feel more safe, but there were four people who almost never had one on while we were in the enclosed trolley. I didn't want to be a Karen, but it was frustrating to know that I was wearing mine, hating it all the while to try to keep others safe. There was one guy who literally coughed without covering his mouth a few times and I was just trying to be OK with it because the windows were open and so there was fresh air coming in and out. Anyway, it would've been nice if they said something when we sat down about guidelines for when to wear the mask and when not to. Otherwise it was a positive experience and Acadia, of course, is gorgeous. Oh, and we did the shorter tour with 15 minutes at each stop: next time I would do the longer one because it felt fairly rushed.
