If the store advertises they are open until 10 PM, then you should probably stay open until 10PM. Not start shutting down the store and turning off half of the lights at 9:30 and scaring the sh*t out of people. Incredibly rude. Service was a Zero for me. read more

This place rocks if you need anything to stock up a home. I mean, they have large selections of plates, cups, placemats, frames, pillows, wall decorations, towels, curios, lamps, chairs, candles, and more. And everything is at cut rate prices! I think of checking this place out before all others if I need something for the house, or even as a gift for someone else ie a housewarming gift. They do seasonal items in a big way, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas. I know I must sound like a salesman for this place, but I am not! Just really like that this place exists so I can get great, unique decorations and ideas at cheap prices. read more

Old Time Pottery - Home Decor Near Me - Murfreesboro, Tennessee

Since I believe this is one of only two OTPs in Middle Tennessee, I started visiting this store on occasion a very long time ago -- long before I had any other reason to go to Murfreesboro! This store has always been well-stocked and is amazingly tidy considering how large it is. The items at OTP are things you'd find at, say, Big Lots, Tuesday Morning, or HomeGoods. Some items are a great bargain, while others seem a bit steep to me. I have had great luck in finding curtain panels here for a great price. And while I think a lot of their planters are overpriced, I recently found the water trays here are far more reasonably priced than what I've seen at big chain hardware stores. This is also the only place I have found a square water tray for my square cement planter. I am elated at such a find! My favorite bargain here recently is the outdoor door mat I purchased. They have SO MANY to choose from, and I was able to find one that suits my picky self for only $9.99! Now that's a deal! Definitely add OTP to your list as one of the many Boro offerings to shop housewares for your new home. read more

Came here tonight looking for bedding and shower/bath items. They had a wide variety (more than Walmart, target, and tjmaxx had) and the store appeared to be clean and well-stocked. This has always been my go-to store for home decor/household items and i will continue to keep coming back :) read more

Oh man... they have some of EVERYTHING here! Such a huge selection of outdoor/ indoor furniture, and home decor. I had no idea what to expect when walking in, but my gosh... they have a little bit of everything here, and at such reasonable prices! Sheets, comforters, bar stools, picnic baskets, crock pots, clocks, there's just so much! I'll absolutely be back again! Went today, and there were plenty of social distancing signs, hand cleaner, and cart cleaner available. I'm not one of the people that buys into the fear, but for those who do, this store is never busy and it's easy to steer clear of others. This is my favorite of the Nashville area Old Time Pottery Store's. It's nicer, cleaner, and better organized than the one in Madison. If you are looking for deals on home decor, linens, lighting, housewares, or floral then this is the place to go. They also usually have an especially great seasonal selection. If you're looking for home furnishings, seasonal decorations, cookware, kitchen gadgets or just general knick-knacks, this is the place to go! The prices can't be beat, and you never know what you will find from one visit to the next. The store is always clean and well organized. If you are into any kind of craft type activity, they have tons of that kind of stuff, too. I was in just a couple of days ago, and even ran across a bin is discount tools! Store is gigantic. They carry everything to stock up a house and outdoor stuff too. Plants and garden decor too. They sell fabric. They do not sell yarn or outdoor storage benches. They pretty much have evruthing else though. read more

* DISCLAIMER: I do not now, nor have I ever been employed by Old Time Pottery. Over the past couple of years I have come to realize that a store I once enjoyed as a customer is failing miserably for its employees. Employees are dealing with miserable work conditions both physically and miserably. In this article, I will lay out the problems of Old Time Pottery in hopes to open the eyes of other customers. I also hope, with deepest sincerity, that my words make their way to Scott Peterson, CEO, and that genuine changes will finally occur for the sake of these employees. There are many issues to discuss, so I fear this will be a long article; but these things need to be known. First we will tackle management. This includes anyone who is in charge of people on the floor, registers, restaurant, floral, or in the warehouse. There seems to be a lot of confusion in general amongst management as to who is in charge of what. As a result, employees are told multiple things about the same issue. The result of this is write-ups and other punishments (including loss of job) for following one manager over another when conflicting information is given. An example of this occurred around 2011. An employee I know was witness to the following occurrence: An employee was assisting a customer loading items onto their truck. A member of management was outside with him at the time. There was conflict as to the amount of item to put on the customers truck and the manager present gave a solution to the issue. The employee did as they were told and the customer took his purchase and went on his way. Later, said employee was fired for this event. Reason for firing? Stealing. Another manager had seen the event and determined that the employee knowingly gave the customer more than he was supposed to. The manager who had been present at the time denied involvement even though multiple witnesses saw what had happened. Note, this is just one example. Secondly, I'd like to address safety issues. In the sweltering summer heat of 2012, both customers and employees were greeted with no air conditioning upon entering the store. Employees dealt with dehydration due to a lack of breaks that they were not allowed to take to replenish with water. On one occasion, it was reported to me that the alarm system was making a high pitch buzzing sound. This went on for a period of days causing tinnitus like symptoms in employees who worked nearest the buzz. When head of security was asked about the noise and if the buzzing could be stopped, employee was told that it could be easily. The manager then laughed and walked away. The buzzing seemingly stopped on its own several days later. Another example of very dangerous lack of safety precautions occurs on a regular basis. Often times employees can be seen alone, on high ladders with no one to secure the ladder, no safety equipment and no one to make sure the ladder isn't bumped. This is a serious hazard issue for the employees at the top of the ladder. Finally, in the area of safety, though not as closely, I will note the lack of concern for employees' health. In freezing weather (we are talking snow and ice) employees are forbidden to wear coats when going outside to retrieve carts. Secondly to this, employees have risked their lives and other drivers lives being forced (with threat of being fired) to drive to work in thick ice that has already caused death on the roadways. The responsible thing for management to do would be delay store opening so ice could melt and employees could arrive safely. I would next like to address scheduling issues. It is common practice for the schedule to be posted a day before the next work week starts. This causes difficulty in the personal lives of employees, especially if they have second jobs. Multiple times, it has been reported to me that schedules also get changed throughout the week without warning. An example of this; an employee planned to work until a certain time as scheduled the day before on the weekly schedule. At lunch time the next day, the employee noticed their hours had been changed and they were to work an extra hour that day. The employee was given no notice of this and was unable to make accommodations for childcare. Another example of poor scheduling practices relates to hours a week an employee is allowed to work. According to the employee manual, an employee who works a certain amount of hours per week over a certain period of time is to be moved up to full time status. Part time employees are often scheduled to work 35-40 hours a week up until a week before they would become full time. They are then dropped back to 20-25 hours for a week or two and then a returned back to 35-40 hours. read more

I love this place. Inexpesive seasonal items, basic kitchenware and party supplies. None of it's terrific quality but i don't feel like it needs to be for seasonal items i'll use for a year or two. I love to wander through here. Sometimes i'll get nothing sometimes a few things and sometimes i feel like i've found a bunch of things that are fun to have. Skip the bed linens, and furniture which are really poor quality but have fun in the rest of the store. read more

This place is awesome for some home decor and cute stuff. But what is really terrible here is the customer service. I wandered around for some time looking for an item that is in their advertisement this week..after a while I decided to seek some help...I asked an associate if they could tell me where the item was located and she had no idea..after saying it was in the ad this week she still had no clue..so she called over another associate who was just as dumbfounded as her. After I finally found them with no help from those two I proceeded to the ONE check out that was open. (please note that there were several employees just standing around the closed registers just shuffling around) The line was lengthy and again have been waiting a while.. Finally salvation..an associate walks over and opens the next register and instead of taking the next person inline (who wasnt me) he waves over to a man walking towards the registers and proceeds to talk care of him. All this while the two head honchos stood there blabbering back and forth with each other.. Don't expect good customer service when you come to this dump. read more

I hate, hate, hate what they've done to this store. Haven't been there in a few months until last weekend. I'm not sure what they are trying to be, but it's not working and I doubt that I'll be back. Loved the old store - well stocked and reasonably priced. Now it looks like junk that;s trying to be upscale and prices are ridiculous. Bad move OTP. read more
