My father passed away in 2016 and my aging mother wanted to honor my dad's then favorite candy, which was "Christopher's BIG CHERRY" When they arrived they were solid on the inside instead of milky. I've been eating these for many years but never seen them so dry before. The cherry was very dry and overall an unacceptable experience from this company. I buy these in California from my favorite grocery store and they are always creamy and never dry. My dad would have been so disappointed and so was my mother. This was our first time ordering from old-time but it will be our last as well. After reading the reviews, it seems like all or most orders were either hard or broken or something else. Not at all 100% satisfied. Not even worth requesting a refund on the stale order. They should feel terrible about the reputation of the company. This has ruined the nostalgia for us all. read more

105 pcs out of 160 received were badly broken and this is for my friends Wedding candy table. This candy was obviously broken prior to shipment. It was packed inside smaller boxes and then bubble wrapped in a larger box. This did not occur during shipment. This company is obviously running a scam by selling broken candy. When I informed OldTimeCandy of the badly damaged candy, this is the response I received: We do our best to pack it but we cannot offer refunds or returns. Unfortunately stick candy breakage is not included with the shipping insurance. Thanks for your candy order. Who knew you needed to consider shipping insurance for a candy purchase. We ordered two boxes of stick candy for an event. One box only had nine broken pieces out of 80, the second box had 58 broken pieces out of 80. Carrie was quick to respond to our inquiry about the large number of broken pieces but stated there was a warning on the website and also on our confirmation. We did find the warning on the website after some searching but nothing on our confirmation that we saw. The main point is the lack of packing, it was no wonder the pieces were broken the way they wallowed around in the shipping box. Oh, after receiving our order we found a shipping insurance option on the bottom of their home page. Would have gladly paid $.98 extra if that had meant we'd receive our order intact. Oops, forget about the insurance if you're ordering stick candy, they just sent word stick candy isn't covered by the shipping insurance. Extremely disappointed after being so excited to find this company....I wish I never found them...buyer beware. I can not believe the attitude during my call! I was constantly interrupted and ask the one of three people in the office to continuously interrupt and stated to her that she was being rude at which point she hung up on me. When ordering the "Whirly Pops" I saw their disclaimer about them being fragile and possible breakage occurring. I needed 3, so ordered 4 ($28.28 with shipping!) to allow for 1 possibly being broken. When delivered, all 4 were broken. Because of their disclaimer, my bank says I have no recourse. Obviously the company has received complaints about breakage, so why not pack them better. All 4 were wrapped with one sheet of bubble wrap as a bundle...wouldn't common sense call for wrapping each one individually? Beware! read more

They used to be good. Last order I placed had a free ship discount (*High Shipping Rates) & I also had what they call 'Candy Coins' which you earn each time you order. When I tried to use the 'coins' they would not accept them w/shipping discount. Nowhere on the checkout page does it tell you that you can only use 1 discount per order. I emailed about it & they stated in return email that I can't use the coins. Well, I lost the coins in the process & no one bothered to offer to reinstate them for next time. I opened my box to find the Happy 57th Birthday box damaged (corners squashed) and 3 out of the 4 candy (by decade) packages split open. Split as in sliced, not accidentally broken open in transport. I love this place so much! They have all kinds of old time favorites, from the candy of my childhood to the even older fashioned candies my grandmother would give me. They pack and ship by the next day, and even at the cheapest shipping the product arrives in less than a week. They pack with care, I almost never have broken candy, and I often order fragile things like rock candy, or candy sticks. I was having issues with my account because I had forgotten to activate it, and the woman I spoke to in customer service was so kind and patient and fixed it immediately. I found 3 errors and my comments were dismissed even after providing a video screen capture of the issue. Not only that, but they went back and fixed the error after the fact AND removed my ability to comment on their facebook page. I ordered online at the holidays and received pretty quick service. They could have been a little nicer to me when explaining that the broken stick candy I received would not be replaced. Also, the customer service rep could have sounded less like she was doing me a favor when offering to refund the amount I paid for the broken candy. I understand that the ground delivery company broke the candy, but couldn't she offer a sincere apology? After all-- I had only PART of my order for my kids' gift. And the candy sticks were in a thin cardboard box with no cushioning, inside a shipping box with other candy. Oh. I am a small one person business that has used this company in the past. However, in the last shipment I received 5# of double bubble gumballs that were so hard they literally shattered in my mouth. After a phone call to find a solution, they would refund the money only after I paid for shipping them back. No refund on shipping. NEVER ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY! I placed an order from them. Rather than use the address I requested, they delayed my order to call and confirm my address. I offered to pay for expedite shipping and they refused. I ordered something in bulk, 1000 pieces, and made sure that the representative I spoke with knew when I needed my delivery. The delivery arrived and rather than 1000 there were only 100 pieces included. Apparently neither the U.S. Post Office nor Fedex services Lagrange Ohio, because the company insists that they are unable to send me the remainder of my order for overnight, first, am delivery. Horrible customer service. The customer service is not always right with this Co. I ordered late for Father's Day and did overnight shipping. It was on a Friday so I knew there was a chance it wouldn't get there till Monday. I told my Father who lives a city over from them. Then I get a call Monday on my VM. Called back at 1:00 my time, 4:00 their time and said it had not gone out yet and it was too late to ship overnight on Monday. I saw red. The candy is cool and the price is good. They just screw up orders. They didn't mention that my order needed an ice block which delayed shipping for over one week. They said " we can't ship to California until next week" HUH???? Why not? And then we modify order so that I can still get it. I call the day before to confirm and guess what? It didn't get modified and it didn't get shipped. I can only get it one week later. They refuse to do anything about it and to make it right. They screw up and you can either just sit and wait (even though they already took your money) or get a refund (and still have to wait for that) STAY AWAY--ITS NOT WORTH THE TROUBLE. Because the order was over 250.00 they had to verify the order. Not to mention the shipping alone was 100.00 for express 3-4 day service. Which brought my order to a total of 324.00 The company called one time and left a message stating they needed to verify my order. They never emailed me nor followed up.
